      @John Sluder Japan suffered two major economical crisis since 2005. First was the 2008 global crisis or recession and then the 2012(or was it 2010) earthquakes and tsunami that costed 430 billion dollars of damage and caused them to shut down almost all their nuclear plants which increased imports of coal, natural gasses and some other energy sources a ton hurting their economy two ways a ton.

      I used to own a Camry V6. Nothing fancy about it, but it was a great vehicle. I kept it for few years, and wished it would break down so I could buy an LS-430. After 170,000 miles, it was as good as new, so I got rid of as a boredom. LS-430 is an amazing car in every aspect you can think of, but it is also expensive to maintain. I have really missed my Camry these days.

    • @BPoweredLove
      @BPoweredLove 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ***** The LS430 is expensive to maintain compared to what? An incomparable Camry or a comparable S500 or 740iL?
      My LS430 simply will not break and I have the UL which has a HOST of extra things that could break. Nope. Damn thing with over 100k miles simply won't break.

    • @afa6361
      @afa6361 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gangrene Vagina It is more expensive to maintain compared to my former Camry. I know they are not comparable, and LS is far less expensive to maintain than BMW or Benz.
      Having said that, I am still spending quite a bit of money to keep it in pristine condition. When you drive a beautiful car like LS, you pay extra attention to the details that you normally don't care about on a Camry. I love my LS though.
      It is now 11 years old, but drives better than most of the brand new cars. And I get a lot of compliments from people.

I would like to this to go head to head with the S class in an autobahn-speed crash test. The engineers will be pulling the dummies out of the S class while the jaws of life had to cut open the LS. Volvo is the only brand that can compete with Mercedes-Benz head on in safety. And most people think that the main knock against Lexus is driving dynamics!

    It would have token them 6.3 Hours to drive the 380 miles at 60 MPH. They would have to drive an average of 76 MPH to achieve 5 hours. So they didn’t hike, they didn’t ride the snow mobiles, they didn’t walk the beach.

    "it took over 4,000 hours of time to determine the result" That is equivalent to one person having a 40 hour a week job for two years. Seems a bit excessive and to think it has all been distilled into this next 19 minutes,WOW!,this ought to be great

    I've owned the BMW 7 series, Jaguar and S Class Mercedes and this is my second LEXUS having had the previous LS400. While very much improved on the previous, it still looks bland and on country roads feels sloppy. At speed it doesn't feel as secure as the BMW or S CLASS. Great specification, super silent, very quick, brilliant sound system but just is a big Toyota and not in same league as the S CLASS, it's far better.

      I had two M-Bs before my LS and the former did have somewhat superior driving dynamics but they were exceptionally unreliable; it seemed that something was always broken. Problems began within the first weeks of ownership. The Lexus has been highly superior. I'll never return to lesser German (or any other) cars.

      Eugene Barry Exactly right. Toyota and Lexus are not bad car brands but they are not for people who enjoy the invigorating driving dynamics of something designed to drive every day on twisty roads and the autobahn.

      I got the 2005 one with 6 speed amazing car drives like a tank and that is what Lexus wanted for the car to drive like a tank to leave the outside world outside. It is not a car that feels like a sporty luxury car but out of my experience put aside the feel it definitely handles better than a Mercedes and is close to BMW but it managed to do that along with boat like ride yea got the 2nd GS as well and well GS is a great sport sedan while LS is a living room. my GS with its suspension shoot took an exit going almost 70 an 25 mph round exit not a tire sound smooth while a week ago brand new E class Mercedes that felt so much sportier lost its tail at about 40mph same exit ended up almost throwing me and my friend out of the road. Never been in a Mercedes that handles better than a Lexus of same class it is just that Lexus does not give you that feel of a performance sedan not what it was made for. And 2 gen GS is has sporty feel to it right amount and is a fun fun car to drive.

      Anyone that's looking for ride/handling characteristics closer to a BMW should *absolutely 100%* buy an LS430 that's equipped with the "Euro Tuned Sport Suspension". The standard suspension is very soft and plush but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of high speed stability, and body roll and pitch. The air suspension is also on the softer side in every setting, including "sport mode" and shares a lot of it's unfortunate dynamics with the standard suspension. I've driven all 3 types of suspension and the far superior suspension is the Euro Sport suspension. It has stiffer anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and shocks, and stiffer bushings - providing a much more "planted" feel especially at high speeds as well as a little bit more feedback through the steering wheel. 2001-2002 models with the sport suspension also swapped the standard 225/60/16s for 225/55/17s , and in 2003-2006 models the sport suspension replaced the standard 225/55/17s with 245/45/18s (which helped to further provide more road surface feedback through the steering wheel due to the shorter, stiffer sidewalls). The sport suspension minimizes a fair amount of the unwanted body movement with very minimal impact to ride comfort. While still a soft ride, I would never call the handling of my '04 Euro Sport "sloppy" even on more 'adventurous' country roads. In my opinion, its the perfect blend of responsiveness and stability while maintaining excellent suspension compliance. Also, the suspension was tweaked more than a little for the '04 model year for both standard and Euro Sport suspension models, so for the best overall ride, shoot for a 2004-2006 with the Euro Sport suspension. A purebred "sports sedan," this is not, but it was never supposed to be.
      ...maybe I should take up auto journalism. Not to pat myself on the back (ok, maybe a little), but I feel like this could have come from a car magazine lol

    Wow...sun sensors for the left and right climate control. My 2002 W220 Benz has that, draft-free A/C, and a humidity sensor. There's four cabin air filters including activated charcoal. It also has two separate zones for climate control in the back with heated and air-conditioned reclining seats in the back. Don't get me started on my massaging front seats...

    • @symph0nyofblase
      @symph0nyofblase 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lol well aren't you a typically cute insecure benz owner?
      The LS430 also has dual zone climate control front and back. And it has heated, air conditioned AND massaging front and rear seats. If you knew anything about the LS430, you would know that it has the same features as your generic benz, and more. Things like radar cruise control, 'see around corners' headlights, reverse camera, auto-closing doors etc etc.
      Not to mention how much better the engine is. There's a reason why an 02' LS430 will always fetch a higher resale price than your shitty 02' W220.

    • @fsb1284
      @fsb1284 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      symph0nyofblase I love fiction writers. The LS 430 did not have front massaging seats. You could only get massaging seats in the rear with the LS 430 Ultra Luxury package which most Lexus buyers did not buy because then they would be paying $100K...for a Lexus 🤣. And I'm not sure what makes a great engine in your mind, but my M113 5.0L makes more power than the weezy little Lexus motor and will last just as long properly maintained. I exceed 26MPG hwy as well. As for your adaptive cruise control the W220 offered that, and the W140 closed its doors all the way back in the early 90s when Lexus had two plain Jane models in its lineup. By the way I am perfectly secure about how much an LS430 Ultra Luxury
      with poorly maintained saggy air suspension will depreciate...just like a neglected W220 which mine is not. I'll be nice and not start the safety conversation...wouldn't want you to be embarrassed. And no, I'm not talking airbag count here.

      symph0nyofblase I've never needed validation and vanity is the last reason I ever buy anything including my Mercedes Benz. Pinnacle luxury and safety happen to be tops for me. You've proven nothing except for how great you are at ASSuming things about folks with zero basis. Enjoy your simpleton tarted up Toyota with the few who fall asleep 😴 for them every year (takes 2-3 LS sales years to make one S-Class year). Just don't wreck after falling asleep. It won't be pretty with their simpleton safety.

    • @symph0nyofblase
      @symph0nyofblase 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, you are absolutely not trying to validate yourself with your sad attempts at making constant references to "luxury" and "status" when you are replying with a comment that ends up becoming all about your ancient mercedes, with it's obsolete features that were eclipsed the very same year by Lexus.
      No falling asleep for me buddy. I drive a Lexus, but it isn't an LS430. It's newer than that, and newer than your 4-wheeled equivalent of windows XP. Perhaps it's time for you to take out a third mortgage and upgrade. An 02' W220 isn't even good enough to be used as a taxi these days.... :)

    Great car and very quiet. If you look at the door seals and such you can see how they do the quiet ness. Its refined and very nice but still too hard of seats and not like the old Caddys. Also a bit more cushy soft ride would be making this car almost perfect. Now I have had Lexus and MB and BMW and Caddys and Lincolns and Jags and I know what I am talking about. GM has better Cruise control--meaning easier to figure out and to the touch. Yes they do and no engine compartment light on the Lexus---that is a big issue with me and could so easily be corrected! The Japanese all work together and are one culture of people so they do things very well. Americans have blacks and Mexicans and rotten unions and corruption and that shows today. Where as we use to have almost all whites working together and with that along with no outsourcing years ago made American cars great---along with no rotten unions. German cars are just fantastic for ride control and fun but Lexus beats em on reliability. This 430 is also very fast in acceleration and despite what some of these idiots say its not boring to drive. Its very nice. Luxury cars are not to be real sporty anyway. So my verdict? OF course I'd say Lexus is the best. IT IS. 2004,05,06 are excellent.
