Just came here after watching Motorweek's 2002 Infiniti Q45 review. What a difference in the comments section! On the Infiniti video, lots of people are talking about how they remember the cars... in this comments section, everyone is talking about how they still own an LS430, some with very high miles.

Not really. Back in the day it was meh. The styling was bulbus compared to the smooth lines of the 400. We did not know what was on the lot. Honestly this car is a true diamond of cars. Im a car guy and I've always liked big cars but this thing has never been on my list until lately. I want something reliable, classic and not impossible to repair like an older German car. The plan is to buy a 2006 for under 5k and take it apart, make it new again for less than 20k. Ill have a brand new car.

Maybe at 34 I'm getting "old" but I just really like '90s/'00s luxury cars better than newer ones. Which just have black interiors with a giant iPad stuck in the middle of the dash. Also, I like a little bit of wood and chrome.

I believe back in the time of Lexus starting up and debuting, people said exactly what you just said about Kia to Lexus. Anyhow, pretty short sited and biased comment non the less. Ironically, Genesis seems to be doing what Lexus did, and doing it better today than Lexus. Lexus sales are down 20%. Actually out of all luxury manufacturers, Genesis is the only one with increasing sales.

@@joestuff8 Genesis clearly isn't doing what Lexus did back when it introduced. The Germans aren't even fazed the Genesis and their dealership model (mostly Hyundai dealerships) is no where near what Lexus brought to the table. Lexus sales being down still puts them thousands of sales ahead of Genesis, it isn't even a sales contest. In no way, sales, cars, dealers, is Genesis doing their introduction better than Lexus did. The Germans were coasting in 1990, they're at the top of their game in 2023.

This specific model LS is looked back on today as the greatest ever, & most people don't understand why.
The "innovative features" it had were *all* (ALL) copied from the S-Class - and they pale into insignificance compared to features modern LS/S-Class have.
This specific model was engineered from the very start by Lexus to be the best built car the world has ever seen. They succeeded.
It actually had panel gaps that were insane - like 1/1000 of an inch, something crazy like that! And it's really no surprise which car it resembles... the W-140 (which it surpassed in quality).
Sadly, this is a strategy Lexus have thrown into the trash the last ~15 years.
