    Sometimes it's the little unnoticed things that deserve praise. A lot of designers would have gotten into their egos and chose to make the character sheet "better" ( their own ). But one of the most important steps in training a new GURPS Player is getting them comfortable reading their character sheet. For this, we need consistency. Thank you for not making it "better".

      You are welcome! What we try to do is make it as flexible as we can, so players can play the way they want to. "Your GURPS, Your Way". Sometime in the (distant) future, we might start making "skins" for the character sheets... bur for now, we are striving for functionality over form.

    Glad I found the channel, always been a fan of GURPS since I was introduced. Currently building my “GurpsHawk” world, it’s based on gygax’s original Greyhawk world.

    Hey Chris! Thanks for doing this. Recently, I was at the National Infantry Museum with my nephew / new infantry recruit! Prior to his new career, we gamed together via Foundry VTT using systems like FFG / Edge Star Wars; Pathfinder, and Savage Worlds... all suited incredibly well genre wise. We were both checking out this awesome model of an urban airborne trooper battle (Market Garden era) when it dawned on us how cool it would be to game in this setting... gritty... lethal... in honor of those who served there and beyond. GURPS immediately came to mind! I smiled, of course, when he said, "hey, wouldn't it be awesome if the supernatural somehow became a thing...". I was ginning like a supervillain. So, I bought the PDFs and am now getting GCS and my Foundry / Forge VTT set up and going. Really pumped about the whole thing really! Anyway, just thought I would touch base.     Forgot to comment on how awesome this was because I watched it on my TV instead of the computer or iPad as per usual. EXCELLENT WORK as always.

    Foundry looks very interesting. I wish all the players in my group had decent laptops/tablets so that we could use Foundry while at the table, it would be the best of both worlds.

      Actually, our GM laid a TV on the table and gave us a wireless mouse... so we could pass it around and move everyone. Plus, the clients run in Chrome... and if you turn down all of the performance settings, it can be done.

    Sorry Chris, but my player's priest has "Energy Resource" as new resource tracker (in GCS it is listed under "point pools") but in foundry it doesn't appear on the character sheet. Actually there isn't any added resource tracker appeared on my foundry character sheet. What can be the problem?

      Ah, I've found a new resource tracker button under Reaction and Modifiers boards. I gave ER to the priest, and it worked, even after I tried a new import, and it is still there, didn't dissapear. But when I first made the import, it wasn't there, though it was presented on the original. Strange thing. But it's okay now!

    My group and I are just getting started and we are loving it so far. We just had one question, is there a dark mod for the character sheet? We play dark fantasy our maps and stuff ar fairly dark and moody, so everybody gets blinded by their character sheet when they open it... lmao.

      I don’t think we have a fully support dark mode. We have some support for modding colors (look in the game system settings), and if those don’t suffice, please, open a GitHub issue so we can look into it (I’m on vacation atm, and not near my computer).

    Good video, I'm sorry if this is a dumb video especially considering how old it is but how easy would it be to add new rules? For example stuff from girls high tech or gurps tactical shooting?

      No, it is not a dumb "question" (I hope that is what you were trying to say)...
      Our GURPS Game Aid for Foundry is a way for you to adapt your particular GURPS and play it remotely. We don't have a lot of "rules" built in... hardly any, in fact. We have the On-the-Fly system which allows you to customize the charactersheet to perform the actions that you want.
      What rules were your thinking of, for example?

      @@AlfredoGomez-kp4cf You are welcome. For the most part, GURPS is just a series of "success" rolls, and then you, the GM/Player, decide what that means. Our Game Aid can show you the results of a "success" roll, but it is up to you to decide what to do with that. We have built in some rules concerning damage... since the math can be a bit daunting.

    Anything more basic? I just bought Foundry VTT but have no idea what to do to get beyond the basic install. How do I create my campaign? For instance, I want to do a DFRPG campaign set in the D&D 5e setting Sword Coast. I want to start with the three adventures from the D&D 5e intro sets set in Phandelin (Starter set & Essentials) and Stormwreck Isle (newest Starter Set).

      There are tons of videos out there for general Foundry set up. We don’t do anything specific for GURPS concerning scenes, etc. you will need to create your player characters and NPCs. We recommend GCA or GCS to build player characters. Mooks (NPCs) can be created with GCA/GCS or our Mook generator, which is described in a later video in this playlist.

    Foundry is expensive for me in my country, it only works on foundry? are there other alternatives out there?

      Roll30 has a free tier, and there is support for a GURPS charactersheet. I have heard of other free VTTs, but I don't know what kind of GURPS support they have.

    Are these highlight colors Foundry defaults or specific to the GURPS addon? I mean the green/yellow/red. Feels like MS Excel :/

      The colors are specific to the GURPS Game Aid, and they are static, which means that it is not possible to make them configurable.... at least as far as we know.
      You must remember, this is a hobby project by two developers that do this work in our spare time. We started it because we love GURPS, and love to learn new things, so we decided to learn Javascript (and in my case), HTML and CSS. We copied the color scheme from GCS (GURPS Charactersheet) and added the yellow and orange highlighting to indicate areas where the user could interact.
      Nick has made some recent changes (which will be included in the 0.11.13 release) to mute the colors a bit, so hopefully that will be easier on the eyes.

    Also, I noticed that you use hex tokens? How do you create tokens like this? They look great!

      Wow, fantastic! And good luck! I use the free tool TokenTool www.rptools.net/toolbox/token-tool/ to take any image and convert it into tokens.

      That is because the video is OLD... and our code has changed so much. You no longer need to export your character. You can read the .gcs file directly into Foundry.     Heya, for us EVERYTHING is in all capital letters. Anyone had this issue? Possible solutions?

      Did you upgrade to Foundry V10? The GURPS Game Aid has not been upgraded to V10. Also, check your add-on modules... they might not be compatible either.

      I apologize for the late response. Our Users Guide bit.ly/2JaSlQd discusses exporting from GCA (although I don't know if we have specific CGA5 instructions yet). But the basic process is the same... from GCA, you must export to an XML file (using the Foundry VTT export) and then you can import into the GURPS Game Aid.

      We definitely understand. Version 1.0 of the GGA is based on GCS (and is compatible with it). So you will be able to create your characters in Foundry, and GCS can read them. It is just a big job... still working on it. Keep tuned, it will happen!

      ​@@chrisnormandnot to necro this too bad but I think that making it all in foundry is more dev time than it's worth. There are a lot of other QoL things that can be added that could take the same amount of dev time that will go a lot farther. Especially now that it can read the gcs files directly
