FYI, I believe this was based off a real story. Although she died when the tsunami hit the station, over 7000 people are credited to have survived due to her heroic actions. RIP Miki Endo, may she Rest In Peace.
I was listening in the kitchen and went to my phone just skip the ad only to realize it's part of the video. Lol so I do personally like that touch of real
I'm sure it's a random coincidence, but Translatorly is the name of an actually existing company. While they (obviously) offer translation services, it's not on a subscription basis, so there's no risk of confusion. It's also no risk that they'll complain; there's no downside, and a hint of an upside: they might get some extra hits on their Web site, or their name might stand out a bit to someone considering their bid on a contract.
Her name was Miki Endo. During the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami she remained at her post on the second floor of the three-storey Crisis Management Center continuing to broadcast warnings and alerts over the community loudspeaker system as the tsunami swept over the building and silencing the loudspeakers, killing her and overwhelming the town. Of the approximately 40 people who fled to the roof of the building, only 11 survived, by clinging to the rooftop antenna. She was hailed in the Japanese news media as a heroine for sacrificing her life and was credited with saving many lives. Miki's body was discovered and identified by authorities on 23 April 2011.
@@DanUrsul If not for her, people would not have known that the tsunami was 3 times as tall as expected. She saved hundreds, if not thousands of people, who would have otherwise drowned in the tsunami shelters, which were all too low, easily 20 feet below the wave's height. Miki Endo was one of the best of us. Some of the tsunami videos from that day show exactly what you described.
What an emotional roller-coaster. At first with the story of bravery and perseverace, through the best example of "are you going to eat that?" meme to a self sacrificing act of heroism. All that packaged into a meta-like podcast? Amazing work.
Some? Alligators don't talk, nor would their families recoil in horror because you turned their fathers, sons, and uncles into boots that you're pulling over your feet because they pointed a lasgun at you.

well in Florida they eat alligator, it won't be no difference eating a Kraxian, or something a reptilian, a Mexico iguanas also in the dish a large lizard that eats leaves and stuff,
They eat leaves with a bite like that? Hold up I'm looking this up. Well I'll be damned! I've seen those things rip into a guys arm painting the entire thing red.
WOW LARISSA! You are such an amazing storyteller! I laughed my ass off when the Vietnamese commander told the Shralli commander to "send more crocodile men". And then cried like a baby when Farah sacrificed herself to save the city. You made it so realistic, even though it's a fictional story.👍👍👍👍
The thing to remember about Farrah's story is it's not really fictional. In 2011, an emergency broadcaster sacrificed her life to keep broadcasting the warning of a tsunami until the moment the wave destroyed the office she was broadcasting from saving many who may not have heard the initial broadcast. She had time to go to higher ground, but she stayed at her post
@@Theroha I knew of the story, but I didn't know any details. In 2011 I was working graveyard shift and didn't see any of the news broadcasts because I slept during the day.
The final story something similar has happened. I don’t remember where but I do remember hearing a story of a girl who died saving her town/city(can’t remember which) she warned people on the speakers to get to safety but if she did she would die. Her telling others to reach safety meant not having a chance to escape the crushing waves.

Amateur human researcher here. There was a theory a while ago that a mockumentary used to explain mermaids back in the 2010 era in terran common year called the aquatic ape theory. Essentially it said that humans lost their hair, and began standing upright to help them hunt shellfish, eventually learning to swim to reach the deeper areas of bodies of water in order to hunt more effectively. It was also theorized that their brains developed past their precursor ancestors due to the brain building acids they started gaining from more regular consumption of fish. However this theory is highly disputed and the mockumentary definitely didn't help.
