    This song is from the 1980 American musical fantasy film "Xanadu". It starred Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck & Gene Kelly in his final film role. The film features music by Olivia Newton-John, ELO, Cliff Richard & The Tubes. The movie got mixed reviews but there are a lot of good songs such as "Magic", "Suddenly", "I'm Alive", "Don't Walk Away", "All Over The World" etc.

    This is Olivia with ELO. Jeff Lynne wrote it, and of course you can hear his voice all over the baking vocals.

    If you haven't heard it, her song Magic is Awesome ❤. It is one you most likely would add to your playlist. Soul Kiss and "I Need Love" are really upbeat.

    She starred with John Travolta in the movie, Grease! That was a great movie with great songs in it.

    Yes the music and backing vocals was performed by ELO (Jeff Lynne basically) Great song and a fantastic vocal performance by ONJ! The Xanadu soundtrack is great with 1 side of ONJ and others and the 2nd side all ELO songs with 3 hits on the chart from that soundtrack for them. All Over the world, I'm Alive and Xanadu.

    There is an ELO version with Jeff Lynne singing the lead vocal, it has a harder guitar-driven sound.

    You can tell that song was performed by ELO and written by Jeff Lynne.

    Xanadu is a fictionalal place (I think) from the movie with the same name

  • @kimvillemarette3313
    @kimvillemarette3313 ปีที่แล้ว

    By the way, Xanadu is a fictional place. I don’t know if it’s out of Greek mythology or not but it’s supposed to be a perfect place of happiness, positivity, and joy

    Thank you thank you thank you. I am now following your channel. Thank you for being complementary. The whole soundtrack is banging Jeff Lynne and ELO did the whole soundtrack. And Olivia Newton-John in the 70s before Greece was a country singer then she went pop. Do you might want to try a song called deeper than a night

    • @havensmm9308
      @havensmm9308 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, ONJ was country-pop before Grease and then focused purely on pop and soft rock after the movie. However, ELO did not write the whole soundtrack to Xanadu. Only half the songs were done by ELO. ONJ's longtime songwriter and record producer, John Farrar, wrote and produced all of ONJ's songs for the movie "Xanadu" except the title track. He wrote and produced “Magic”, “Suddenly”, “Suspended in Time”, “Whenever You’re Away From Me”, “Dancin’” (the mashup with the Tubes), and “Fool Country”. He also wrote "You're the One that I Want" and "Hopelessly Devoted to You" for the movie "Grease". Other hits he wrote or co-wrote for ONJ: "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Sam", "A Little More Love", "Make A Move on Me", "Landslide", "Falling", "Stranger's Touch" and many other album tracks.

    ……..Olivia was my childhood crush 🥰 I was 15 in 1980…… along with Farrah ❤️ Jeff Lynne said this was his least favorite song. ……it reached #1 in the U.K. and a few other countries at the time. Must suck to be Master musician. 😂🤣😂

      @havensmm9308 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just the opposite, Jeff has said this is one of his most favorite songs he wrote. He even does a version of this song live to this day. You can find live performances.

    I never noticed it, but this DOES sound like an ELO song. It actually sounds like Jeff Lynne singing backup.

  • @MoMoMyPup10

    This was later on in her peak music success, and it was her more commercialized pop version of how she began. After Grease, she fed off of that image and I'm sure her producers pushed her to keep it up. This soundtrack was pretty decent overall though.

    I always considered Olivia's songs to be to cloyingly sweet, sometimes too sappy. I much prefer a woman's voice like Joni Mitchell or even more soulful like Janis Joplin.

    Never was a fan of Olivia Newton John's singing. Thats not to take away from her dancing and acting. Jeff and Bev Bevan and gang produced a very good recording.
