This is actually a duet with pop/rock group ELO (Electric Light Orchestra). Basically an ELO song with Olivia singing lead. She had several hits from the Xanadu sountrack, as did ELO, and this title song was them together.
I was, and always will be in love with Olivia Newton John. She was not only one of the most beautiful singers in the world. One of the best female singers in the world but actually cared about all people and animals. She lost her battle to cancer but will always be remembered. Listen to Olivia Newton John Magic with the video from the midnight special her white outfit. Beautiful just beautiful.
The movie Xanadu is a cheesy masterpiece. I made my poor parents sit thru it with me in the theater... TWICE. Rest in peace, Olivia... you golden goddess.
I was obsessed with her. I was 7 when Xanadu came out. My mom let me stay up late to watch it on HBO when it had it's first showing. I watched it over and over.
Olivia Newton-John had the biggest song of the entire decade of the 80's called Physical from 1981. She was also the lead actress in the biggest movie musical of all time, Grease.
Funny you should think of ABBA watching this as Olivia was the UK entry in the Eurovision Song Contest the year ABBA won with Waterloo. When Olivias career went mega in the US she had ABBA as guest stars on a TV special she did. She was also a friend of Karen Carpenter. Olivia had a 20+ year battle with cancer and was a great fund raiser for cancer charities. We lost Olivia after a 3rd bout of cancer in Aug 2022. Though raised in Australia she was born in the UK and we loved her.
This is a great track by Olivia Newton-John & ELO that went top ten in the US and #1 in the UK in 1980! I remember going to see XANADU at the movies with my parents and sister back in 1980! I loved it! I was 13 years old at the time! Lol! Time flies way too fast!
Olivia is Australian. She was a singer on her own. Olivia Newton John. She was in the Grease with John Travolta. She had many hit songs. She just died recently. That was from the movie Xanadu.
Xanadu was meant to be a starring vehicle for singer Olivia Newton John. She was so popular, her team was looking for film projects for her. Especially ones to showcase her musical talent. The movie was meant to combine a story about mythical goddesses with a modern love story, along with a connection to 1940's musicals. That's why this video is SO busy because there may have been too many elements involved. Critics hated the movie, but people loved the soundtrack, and the movie has become a cult classic. And the movie did end up showing ONJ in various costumes, environments and time periods. She also ended up meeting Matt Latanzi, a hunky younger dancer in the film. They married and had a daughter.
This is a clip of the 1980 film Xanadu with Olivia Newton John. She has been around since the early 1970s and just passed away in August of 2022. She also stars in the movie Grease with John Travolta.
This song is from the 1980 American musical fantasy film "Xanadu". It starred Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck & Gene Kelly in his final film role. The film features music by Olivia Newton-John, ELO, Cliff Richard & The Tubes. The movie got mixed reviews but there are a lot of good songs such as "Magic", "Suddenly", "I'm Alive", "Don't Walk Away", "All Over The World" etc.
You gotta watch 'You're the one that i want" her duet with J.Travolta.That iconic scene/clip from 'Grease".A thrilling piece of the '70s culture and that photo shot of the couple featured in the cover of the album was a must 'thumbnail" poster on the wall to every 'cool" teen's room.
Yes! Our beloved next door girl. What could i say about this etherial creature?!Such a unique voice fantastic (non-autotuned)-live performer and such wonderful person.I miss her sooo much. Undoubtefully the 3some of Olivia,Agnetha,Anni-Frid were for millions of us the most popular teenage crush, back then. And these gurls COULD SING.What an era to be a carefree teen.Real beauty, real music.
Olivia Newton John on vocals, Australia's sweetheart songbird....loved all her songs from '70's and '80's. Unfortunately she passed away not long ago from cancer, RIP. The music band is Electric Light Orchestra, ELO, which a great British band you need to check out. This music video is actually a clip from the movie titled Xanadu. The movie bombed at the box-office and has become a cult fav since. However the movie soundtrack topped the charts with music by Olivia and ELO. Cheers Chase !
I'm glad you did this song, Chase! ✨ Watch the XANADU (1980) movie someday... it's so silly, but also pretty fun... the music video you're watching is from the movie. The music in this movie, including the title song you're listening to was done by *Electric* *Light* *Orchestra* (sometimes known as ELO). I recommended them to you a couple weeks ago! Keep doing more of ELO's songs. The usual singer is Jeff Lynde (he also did a live version of the "Xanadu" song and it's great). Mr. Lynde is a master of layering. And, of course, Olivia Newton-John's voice is great, too. Olivia did a tv special in which she performed *with* ABBA!
Olivia Newton-John (RIP); started out as a Country artist, and moved into Pop. The movie Xanadu featured songs from her and Electric Light Orchestra, who's songs were written by lead singer Jeff Lynn. Lynn wrote Xanadu, and ELO performance the music and background vocals. The album was made of 2 sides; one being ONJ, and the other ELO. This song was on the ELO side.
Jeff Lynn, who produced this track ( you can hear him singing background vocals)was the principal member of the Eclectic Light Orchestra or ELO. They had a ton of hits in the 70s and later Jeff was a member of The Traveling Wilburys supergroup along with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison.
This was the main theme song of a campy movie of the same name. Olivia is singing backed up by an electronic band called ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), who had their own separate successful career in the late 70s/early 80s. Olivia was from Australia, and a well established star by the release of this movie, which was panned by critics for being too hokey and contrived. It was still a good watch though if for nothing else than the amazing soundtrack and dance sequences. Olivia also starred in the movie "Grease", which also has an amazing soundtrack. One other piece of Olivia Newton-John trivia - she was one to Karen Carpenter's best friends! Unfortunately, we lost Olivia in 2022. She was a long-time cancer survivor and a great philanthropist as well.
This is from the movie musical "Xanadu" Olivia started as a country singer, then rose to fame in the biggest box office musical of all time "Grease". She also happens to have been a real good friend of Karen Carpenter. She participated in the Karen Carpenter Docu/bio "Starving for Perfection" that was made in 2023 and yet to aire worldwide. She passed away last year.
Rip Olivia, you are truly missed here at home. You should check out Olivia singing a duet of "Jolene" with Dolly Parton. It's probably one of the last songs she sings before she passes away. Amazing together!!
Welcome to DISCO!!! Her hair is as beautiful as Farrah Fawcett’s famous hairstyle. What you see today is rip offs of Farrah’s hair. Olivia is the Great-Great Grand Daughter of Sir Isaac Newton! In the early 70’s she had a lot of songs that crossed over into country & western music. She was known as the Sunshine Girl. She was such a kind hearted person. Not one person on this planet had a bad thing to say about her. Yes, she was Karen Carpenter’s best friend and it broke her heart when she died. She was an honorary barer of Karen’s funeral. Xanadu is a mythological place where her and her 6 sisters live. Olivia played one of the seven sisters that came down to earth to be a muse to a talented singer that can’t reach his potential on his own. They fell in love but she had to go back to Xanadu to be with the other goddesses. That’s why you saw so many things in the video. She was being a muse for each of the people. I love watching you react to these great songs!! Hope you still listen to all of the Pink Floyd I sent you.
You should explore Olivia Newton-John's many hits, like "Have You Never Been Mellow," "Magic," "A Little More Love," and one of her songs from Grease, "You're the One That I Want." And she was not in ABBA,
I thoroughly recommend the Olivia Newton John TV programme mentioned by mervinmannas, Not only will you hear LIVE songs by Olivia, ABBA and the younger brother of the BeeGees but there is a jam session with all of them which is very amusing and shows the friendship between them. It is on TH-cam (not all include the jam session - go by the length). Very good reactions. Thank you.
At the very beginning of the video, a man turns around in front of the Xanadu sign. He's Gene Kelly, one of the two or three greatest dancers of all time. A legend of musicals from the 50s and 60s. He was in the movie Xanadu (1980)
Oh, bless your heart. The name of the song is Xanadu, the name of the female singing it is Olivia Newton-John. This is the title of the movie of the same name. RIP Olivia Newton-John 1948 -2022
In this fantastic song was singing Olivia Newton-Jon and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) in the chorus The Movie was name XANADU. Great Video jaja.. saludos 🙊🙊😂✌
If you want to hear a really cool combination of voices, check out the TV special (it’s on TH-cam) with Olivia Newton John and ABBA and Andy Gibb performing together! It’s amazing!
The versatility of this adorable lady was so wide, I suggest hear her songs on the movie "Grease" ,and her cover version of Beatkles "The long and winding road" , the classical "Ave Maria·" of Schubert, The jazz song "Cry me a River" , the bossa nova " Boy from Ipanema" , She sing from 14 to 72 years old. His "Jolene" dueto with Dolly Parton at her 71´s was unforgettable,
The song, written by Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), and performed with Electric Light Orchestra, is the title track to the 1980 movie musical, Xanadu. All of the songs in the film are performed by Olivia Newton-John and/or ELO. The film was a huge bomb at the box office, but is a cult classic. It also featured an actor named Gene Kelly, a huge star in the 1950s movie musicals (you see him briefly in front of the Xanadu sign at the start of the video). The title of the song comes from a poem written in the 1800s called Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. "In Xanadu, did Kubla Kahn, a stately pleasuredome, decree, Where Alph, the sacred river ran, in caverns measureless to man, down to a sunlit sea." Xanadu basically means paradise. Olivia did a TV special in the 1970s where she had ABBA on it, and there is a video of the group and Olivia performing together...and yeah, Olivia is not Agnetha. Olivia passed away in 2022, after several bouts with breast cancer over about 20 years. She was a light of love and hope for many cancer survivors and victims and her work as an advocate is continued by her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi. She was Australian, but born in England. And she was knighted, so she was Dame Olivia Newton-John.
Good movie by the same name. Andy Gibb (Bee Gees younger brother) is also in this. Olivia had a bunch of hits. "Grease" was another great movie she did.
Chase, this is Dame Olivia Newton-John she was a British and Australian singer and actress. She was a four-time Grammy Award winner whose music career included fifteen top-ten singles, including five number ones. She was made a Dame by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Olivia Newton-John represented the United Kingdom in 1974 Eurovision Song Contest the year ABBA won with Waterloo. Afterwards, Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta starred in the Hollywood musical Grease. She played Sandy. This is from the 1980 movie Xanadu she starred in.
Olivia Newton John a great voice from the 70s to now. She was australian, you have to check "the one that I want" from Grease, the movie with John Travolta, and "hopelessly devoted to you" from the same movie. Physical a very controvert video at that time. In Xanadu minute 1:50 the boy is Andy Gibb the youngest brother of the famous Bee Gees, who saddly passed away a few years later
I'm thinking Chase the reason this song and and ABBA sound so similar is because they both incorporate something in the production called "The Wall Of Sound". That was created in the 1950's by Ronnie Spector a producer for Motown Records. And it's simply just layering of the same sound/instrument onto it self multiple times. The music for the soundtrack of "XANADU" was done by Jeff Lynne who has a band called ELO or Electric Light Orchestra. With Olivia Newton-John featured for the soundtrack. With ABBA, Benny Andersson (with the shorter dark brown hair in the video's) is the keyboardist and main producer of their music. He used that same "Wall Of Sound" effect on most of their albums which lead to their universal success. P.S. Xanadu is a bonkers movie, but totally worth a watch. Good Luck!
I think every teenage guy back in the day had her posted on the wall. Electric Light Orchestra was also in on this. Not sure if you have done anything from ELO but you should.
Australian music royalty. If you love this song check out the Xanadu soundtrack another great band on there, Electric Light Orchestra. This is Olivia singing an ELO song.
My man, I love your reaction. I was a kid of the 70s and 80s and the music was so great. I like all kinds of music, but that era was amazing. This took me back to my childhood. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I haven't checked if you have reacted to Physical, but the video for that one is hilarious and has so much going on.
You really should try the song called magic which is on the same soundtrack. It was one of Michael Jackson's and John Lennon's favorite songs. It's my favorite song that Olivia Newton-John did.
Xanadu is the title of a famous poem about the pleasure palace of Kublai Khan . It became popular to name night clubs for it and the story of the movie this song is from is set in a roller disco in the 70s, hence you see a lot of people roller-skating.
Oh forgot to say in 1978 Olivia Newton John stared along side John Travolta in a Musical Film Called Grease, i remember going to my local cinema as a kid to see it when it first came out, it has some great, great tracks on it and it became an iconic film which is well worth watching................. just saying :)
Chase, you now need to watch the film Grease that was released in 1978 and has many great songs. The main stars in the film were 1) Olivia Newton-John who played the part of Sandy and 2) John Travolta who played the part of Danny Zuko. As a taster, watch the video "Grease: You're the one that I want" th-cam.com/video/4EUCX0paZxg/w-d-xo.html Spoiler: you wont recognise Olivia!
The video was the final scene from the movie Xanadu. Great sound track, so so movie. Another of Olivia Newton John's top hits was Magic, also from the same movie. Try Magic sometime. Watch the movie.
No not in Abba but you should check out the TV show they did together. Olivia was in the movie Grease and had a string of hits including Hopelessly Devoted to you, Magic, Have you never been mellow and started out as country singer with hits like If you love me let me know and let ne be there. She is Australian
The music for this film was written by Jeff Lynne from E.L.O. Olivia Newton John also played 'Sandy' in the film 'Grease' and is not the lady from Abba who are from Sweden and she is Australian.
This was a musical film with a lot of roller skating, where Olivia plays the role of a Terpsichore, one of the nine Muses of Greek mythology, who comes into 1980 Los Angeles to be a creative inspiration. She meets a struggling artist and they team up with an elderly Big Band orchestra leader and decide to open a nightclub/disco/skating-rink. The soundtrack featured music by ELO, Cliff Richard's, The Tubes and Olivia, and was a great success but the film was unfortunately a flop. Disco as a style of music was popular throughout the 1970s and in the late 70s Roller-Disco was briefly a trend, but by 1980 when the film was released, the interest in Disco had waned and the Roller-Disco trend was over. The film always held a sort of cult status for some people though and in more recent years people have found it entertaining. I think you'd really like the other musical Olivia was in called "Grease" from 1978 which was a HUGE success. Most of the songs are on TH-cam but the film is a lot of fun and worth watching.
My friend seamos justos , honestos y cultos. Saludos
Just discovered your channel and subscribed. If you like this and Abba (which by the way, is my all time favorite group)and Blondie, it's obvious that it's the Disco vibe you like. I'm 79 and the music from the 70's is my all-time favorite era. So many amazing artists from that time. Try "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer. If you don't like it, sadly we''ll have to notify your parents of your unfortunate passing, lol!
I love your reactions!!!! This is a classic, so thank you for doing it! My only suggestion would be to slow down a little on your intro. If you like this, check out the whole movie. :)
Olivia has sadly passed away, she was a British Australian singer, she was a world sensation, a huge star ,and a film star too , she was the star of the film Grease.
Hey Chase, i left a comment in one of your other vids recommending The Visitors by ABBA and also Electric Light Orchestra, Xanadu was a film from 1980 staring Olivia Newton John (nothing to do with ABBA) and the music was written by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) also check out another great track from this film called All Over The World, it's a banger.
th-cam.com/video/7LRU4p-TNcY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=WingsofPegasus And this analysis of her voice three and one third of range, exact pitch, dinamycs, I was surprised . We old man in our youth were falling for her.
This is actually a duet with pop/rock group ELO (Electric Light Orchestra). Basically an ELO song with Olivia singing lead. She had several hits from the Xanadu sountrack, as did ELO, and this title song was them together.
My dude! I cannot keep up with you! You pick the BEST music. Xanadu is great! Olivia Newton John is one of the best singers EVER!
AMEN! Kids got great taste in the music of my life. Exceptional!
I was, and always will be in love with Olivia Newton John. She was not only one of the most beautiful singers in the world. Frida from Abba and Olivia were good friends.

The song "Olivia Newton" by John Xanadu is awesome
Olivia is Australian. She was a singer on her own. Olivia Newton John. She was in the Grease with John Travolta. She had many hit songs. She just died recently. That was from the movie Xanadu.
British born, then she became an Australian citizen.
If you explore Oliva Newton-John's music, you'll find lots to like. She even did a special with ABBA as her guests in 1978.

Olivia Newton-John, the most beautiful woman that has ever lived...❤

Olivia was one of the great singers of the 70's and 80's, sadly died in August 2022 from cancer but her legend lives on.
Brings me to tears of memory seeing Olivia at this age.
I'm glad you did this song, Chase! ✨ Watch the XANADU (1980) movie someday... it's so silly, but also pretty fun... the music video you're watching is from the movie. This is not only Olivia Newton-John, but the band behind her is the Electric Light Orchestra. So, you got a twofer with this one.
And now you should check out ELO (with Jeff Lynne). You will be in for a treat lasting months!
And with her was ELO and like ABBA, they never did a bad song either
my fave ONJ song! ♥ she is stunning! 😳
So cool!

Rip Olivia, you are truly missed here at home.
You should check out Olivia singing a duet of "Jolene" with Dolly Parton. It's probably one of the last songs she sings before she passes away. Amazing together!!

Thank you for doing this, I knew you would like it. Olivia Newton John is one of my favorite artists. You need to watch this movie asap.
If you get a chance Olivia and Abba did a tv special together. I think Andy Gibb was in it to. All recorded live. It’s on TH-cam. Check it out.

Great song and great movie!
Xanadu was a movie and the song Xanadu was the theme song sung by Olivia Newton John. In the movie Xanadu was the name of a disco roller rink.
My childhood encapsulated in one stunning song. It never fails to bring a smile to my face.

You'll like Olivia's I Honestly Love You. It was the beginning of her career.
Look up the Olivia Newton John special with Abba, they were all great friends.
Olivia ❤😊🎉 Xanadu💜 🌈
Good movie by the same name. Andy Gibb (Bee Gees younger brother) is also in this. Olivia had a bunch of hits. "Grease" was another great movie she did.
You definitely need to check Electric Light Orchestra. You are in for a phenomenal journey!
She had so so many hits. She died in 2022 sadly❤❤❤❤
Will always be my muse still missing her.
Now you need to watch "All Over The World" and "I'm Alive" from the same movie!!!
You are becoming my favorite reactor, cute man. 😊
I like your reaction videos some people just sit there you can see they are not interested but you engage...cool 😊
Good Luck!
The lady from ABBA is Agnitha, this is Olivia. And this is essentially 70s music, so is ABBAs music.
I think every teenage guy back in the day had her posted on the wall. Electric Light Orchestra was also in on this. Not sure if you have done anything from ELO but you should.
Check out Olivias concert from 1982 its excellent
You should check out lene Lovich "Lucky Number" from 1978.
Aussie!!!!!!!
British/Australian actually, Born in Cambridge UK.
It's also a song by RUSH.
Oh forgot to say in 1978 Olivia Newton John stared along side John Travolta in a Musical Film Called Grease, i remember going to my local cinema as a kid to see it when it first came out, it has some great, great tracks on it and it became an iconic film which is well worth watching................. just saying :)
Great Movie
She is Australian
thats how dumb he is
The music for this film was written by Jeff Lynne from E.L.O. Olivia Newton John also played 'Sandy' in the film 'Grease' and is not the lady from Abba who are from Sweden and she is Australian.
This is the movie she did after Grease.
This is from the finale' of the film XANADU.
Yes I can see how something so simple could be so confusing
She passed away last year . Known for both her singing and movie Grease . Song written by another amazing voice / singer Jeff Lynn ElO
The singer is Olivia Newton-John and the song is called Xanado.( pronounced Zanadoo)
This was from the film Xanadu, song was written and produced by ELO!!
I love your reactions!!!! This is a classic, so thank you for doing it! My only suggestion would be to slow down a little on your intro. If you like this, check out the whole movie. :)
Australian legend ONJ
written by ELO who also provide background vocals
Olivia has sadly passed away, she was a British Australian singer, she was a world sensation, a huge star ,and a film star too , she was the star of the film Grease.
Hey Chase, i left a comment in one of your other vids recommending The Visitors by ABBA and also Electric Light Orchestra, Xanadu was a film from 1980 staring Olivia Newton John (nothing to do with ABBA) and the music was written by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) also check out another great track from this film called All Over The World, it's a banger.
Xandu is a movie. That's a clip from it
th-cam.com/video/7LRU4p-TNcY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=WingsofPegasus
And this analysis of her voice three and one third of range, exact pitch, dinamycs, I was surprised . We old man in our youth were falling for her.
ABBA and Olivia were buddies
