    I've watched this video at least 5 times, Rod you are the OG of twitching jigs! You've definitely inspired me to love and bring twitching jigs to the river for a variety of species.

    We have been using this technique with 1/8 oz jigs in slack water and deep pools since 1980 in Oregon and SW Washington. It's been awesome in clear water conditions. We use spinners, wiggle warts and bait in colored water. We called it free jigging and have had some 30 plus fish days on our home rivers, It's been a great way to fish. We use 3 or 4 types movement to fish then. Awesome great video.

    Wow just seeing this out of the box th-cam.com/users/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

    Funny I discovered this totally on my own 15 years ago or more in Oregon. I generally don't twitch quite as aggressive as you do tho. Wish we had fish that bright here.

    I have used these they the purpled are killer for coho and the pinks are dynamite for pinks. When spoons are not working for me I always switch to Rods jigs and they work great.

    If salmon only bite out of aggression when there in the river. Why do colors and shapes matter so much. Why can't u throw any lure out there and work it properly and get bites??? Please answer soon. Thanks

      that is still a bite out of agression, they stop feeding as soon as the get into the river systems

    • @AlaskanCharlie
      @AlaskanCharlie 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fisheye lens I disagree with you. If this were true then it wouldnt matter the time of day, if it was out of aggression time of day wouldnt matter. Same with people who say Sockeye do not bite, I have seen several times them go out of the way to hit a fly or even a shrimp on a hook and even take salmon roe believe it or not. True many times it is out of aggression, but not always. There is a good reason why Salmon Roe works so damn well for Silvers and Kings. They are hitting it because it taste good to them, not because salmon eggs piss them off lol.

      Don’t know if this helps years later but he’s using a 2500 sized Shimano Stradic, you can also use a 3000, which share the same body and size with just a deeper spool, 4000 can also be used but could be unbalanced for most twitching setups, but as with most things, you could make it work

    What's a "dead dog"? haha

    • @Ambassador321
      @Ambassador321 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Likely referring to a Chum Salmon. They are often called dogs around here as they grow pretty sharp dog-like teeth as they are preparing to spawn. Lots of spawned out dead "dogs" floating around this system later in the fall.

    • @bickertonben2595
      @bickertonben2595 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rod was also referring to the coho being a "dead dog" as it was a hatchery. Sorry fish, bonk bonk.

      they are releasing WILD coho salmon as it is illegal in BC to kill wild coho, only hatchery fish are to be retained as part of your daily quota, typically you will get a mixed bunch while targeting Coho
