Hey, @osmosis , sorry but if the bronchial arteries supply oxygenated blood to the air ways, why should the mixing of its blood with the oxygenated pulmonary vein blood cause a shunt?
I may be wrong but what happens is when the bronchial arteries get to the lung tissues it supplies the oxygen and other needed compounds, after this it is supposed to be drained through bronchial veins but instead it bypasses the venous system and drains it's deoxygenated blood directly into pulmonary veins😊
