    Thanks Richard. Heineken doesn’t do TH-cam but if it did it would be called Richard.
    By far the most informative instructional video I’ve seen on TH-cam. Considering this is not a small job. My question is, can anyone without mechanical skills tackle this job. I have the Audi A6 tdi ultra and supply and fitting prices are astronomical.
    Thanks again Richard. 👏👏👏

      Hi Richard! I have few questions: do you know the part number of the brackets that you received in your towbar package (min 20:45 in your video)? Also, the bracket has two small holes in it, are they useful in any way? I bought a second hand towbar kit and I didn't receive the screws nor the brackets. I used the screws from the metalic bumper beam (I hope they are ok to be used with the towbar), and now I need to buy the brackets or nuts in order to be able to screw on the second row of screws.
      Thank you very much!

    If you twist the knob far enough forward, it will stay in the unlocked position. If you then mount the towbar onto the car, it snaps automatically into the locked position. Took a while until i figured that out also.

    One day car manufacturers could just make life easier and put the structural parts pre fitted to all models, I find it nuts how much of a faff it still is to fit a towbar, why is this not just as simple as screwing a few bolts to attach the bar and exposing some pre fitted electric connector? Taking half the rear end off , lowering the exhaust, pulling off most of the boot trim, and having to cut the bumper is insane really.

    Put the bumper on a blanket at least, and put a blanket underneath when you pull the bumper off in case you drop it. other than that, great video. I wondered where the 3-4 hours estimated time was being used up. Not quite as simple as the instructions make out. And what it show is just how crappy some of the engineering in cars is. They are, like the old days, built from the inside out.

    • @richsmif
      @richsmif  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah totally get the blanket, i'd agree with you there. Bit of a behind the scenes, i'd already removed it in 2 other takes. Took me a total of 2 days to do the job start to finish including electrics, but i'm constantly faffing with cameras, out takes, people walking past. etc. I think realistically you can do it in a day. A professional quotes 3-4 hours but they do it day in day out.

    Hello Richard, I notice the link you posted the model Westfalia-Automotive 305465600001 was originally referring to a Audi Q5. How did you find out that the tow hitch would fit your A5? The reason I am asking is that I like the retractable models, that according to Westfalia are compatible "only" to Audi A4 Avant and Audi A4 Saloon... any chance to get a information about the size of you hitch (meaning the distance between left and right mouting bars?) Thanks for your patience

      Thanks for reply. Sadly I sold the car and upgraded to s5 so can't measure it for you. I never put a tow on the s5 as the rear splitter interefers. I'd suggest going to westfalia directly.
