    "The Barnsley rider crashed at the top of Bray Hill following a tank slapper, his ZX-10R sliding into a group of spectators further down the hill. The bike's front wheel broke free, narrowly missing the heads of spectators on the other side of the road before smashing through the front window of a house. 29-year-old Howarth, making his TT debut for team Sheff Pack Kawasaki, escaped uninjured.
    Eleven spectators have been taken to hospital, none thought to have life-threatening injuries."

      Yep. I like to observer folks behavior, too. Those that strain their necks to see more versus those that step away to avoid further danger. Some clutch their partners for security. I particularly noticed the reaction of the ladies at the bottom left of the screen. Immediate shock and concern. Others jump into action to figure out how to signal the danger to other riders.

      Five deaths just this year alone, one was a father and son on a side hack machine, pretty big price to pay. Very unforgiving place to race…

    • @peterburt2905
      @peterburt2905 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stevegiboney4493 Yeah, it must be incredibly unforgiving. I'd never do it in a million years, but for some people, it's just the drug they need. I mean, bugger me, people still want to strap themselves to the top of a giant bomb and fly into space, or climb huge rock faces with no ropes for back-up. You wouldn't catch me doing that either. But it continues to happen, because every human on the face of the planet has, to a greater or lesser degree, a bit of daredevil inside them. The only difference being, the amount in each individual. I think it's unfortunate when random people quite arbitrarily draw a line in the sand, according to their personal perception of what is acceptably safe and what is unsafe, then try to foist their view of life and living on everyone else. As a pilot, you're sometimes struck by the fact that people will climb into a bit of tin and put their lives in your hands, but they do it all the time. Every day. It was all about the individual's decision about what is acceptable risk, and what is not. It was not my decision to make for them.
      Having said that, I think that, in order to protect the innocent, the unwary and the ill-informed (talking spectators here) probably certain areas should be out of bounds to spectators. However, I don't think you could reasonably attach any of those labels to a rider who is capable of racing in the TT. Your thoughts?

      It is believed that somewhere in the reigon of 123-129 spectators died at le mans they couldn't be absoloutley sure the initial number was thought to be about 80-90 however after a number of weeks they revised that upwards it took them that long to colate the bits and pieces of bodies that couldn't be identified, the engine and monorque had obliterated a considerable amount of people, a newly married couple who were known to have attended the race were never found.

We know each and every year riders WILL die! .How can this still be allowed to carry on !...What I hate most is the remark.'' They died doing what they loved'' The riders all know the huge risk they take ,but also the risk to the spectators who are standing so close to boundary walls and in front gardens etc.With bikes reaching speeds of between 130 and 170 mph..CRAZY CRAZY!!...I myself have been riding motorbikes for over 40years but still cannot agree that the I.O.M should continue..

      The riders themselves make the choice to do it. They full well know the risk and do it because this is what they love to do. Race car drivers do the same thing. Even drivers themselves say if they were going to die, they would rather go out doing something they loved so this is not a spectator remark. As in any high-risk activity, there is always a chance of something going wrong and people being injured or killed. Would you stop flying in an airplane? There is a chance of you dying in one of those yet people still do because they love to travel. Some people enjoy experiencing life rather than just staying home reading a book.
