    Wow, i've seen some peak reviews but you made it that it finally clicked. Idk why i slept so long, that synth is awesome!
    I'm a huge fan of hybrid synths and this synth sounds really really good. Kinda like a lot of synths i like mixed together but with nice overdrive/distortion and a powerfull filter which is even im extreme settings not too crazy.
    Yeah, you made it again. first a waldorf xt, now the peak. You fuelled my GAS with an awesome video again ;)

      @@synth4ever have you ever heard of microfiber towels? They're great for synth displays. Seriously, I'm also very conscious and protective of my synths and I have never scratched a single display in my life. But seeing the display without the factory protection is pure joy. Try it, you will be happy :)

    For all that thinks that the sides are wooden. they are not, its just painted plastic, and its very soft one. Mine has white spots that happen when u touch the painted sides with anything else but microfiber cloth. Not really cool for the price range but it is what it is.

    Wonderful overview! I'm equally smitten with that GORGEOUS reverb!
    Just curious - why didn't you wait for the Summit?

    • @bastiaanw3519
      @bastiaanw3519 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ted Stahl I was actually very pleased with how that distortion sounded, but overall it seems like a great synth and this demo is showing it.

    • @tedstahl3794
      @tedstahl3794 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bastiaan W - Indeed! It is a great synth! I was planning on getting one and the week I was going to order one, Novation introduced the Summit to the world at Superbooth. The Summit is two Peaks (16-note polyphony) + a 61-note keybed + a new dual filter mode + external stereo audio inputs + additional hands on controls for FM, LFO 3 & 4, envelope loop buttons, and more! I've pre-ordered the Summit instead of buying the Peak.

    • @bastiaanw3519
      @bastiaanw3519 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ted Stahl Personally I'm torn between a flagship synth like the Peak or a few tiny Behringer synths...

    • @tedstahl3794
      @tedstahl3794 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bastiaan W - I understand. I have the Behringer Model D and the Neutron. They're excellent instruments! I've also pre-ordered their Pro-1 clone. As brilliant as these instruments are, they don't fill the need for a huge versatile pad monster like the Summit. The Deepmind 12 comes close, but I really love how immediate the Peak engine is and how much more of the control is right in front of you with the Summit.
      Don't misinterpret my appreciation for the Deepmind engine. I'd like to get the 12-voice in a desktop version at some point. I really love what they've done with it. And the iPad editor Behringer released for it that allows you to program the synth over wi-fi is Brilliant! I'm jonesing for that and a Roland Systen-8. The pair of those is about the same price as a Summit. It's just that the sonic depth and potential of the Summit blow me away! I love those Oxford oscillators! I love that I can use all three complex oscillators as FM operators and have all three simultaneously serve as sound generators AND modulators! AND the fact that this FM playground doesn't limit you to sine waves - heck, it doesn't limit you to sine, saw, triangle, and square! You can Frequency Modulate the Wavetables while using LFOs or envelopes (which can loop at the touch of a button - no menu diving!) to modulate through the wavetables!!! All of this can be done on the surface of the Summit without digging into the menu or assigning in the modulation matrix. It's a sound designer's dream!
      Again, don't misinterpret my enthusiasm. There are no real "wrong" choices here. We're looking at winners in all directions. And when you have to see how much bang you can get for your buck, you can do quite a bit with the Deepmind. It's not unlike buying a car. (Considering how expensive some synths get, that analogy is even more on point than I originally thought.) I happen to like the performance, certain features, and the dashboard of the Summit. The Deepmind, the Rev2, the System-8, the Blowfeld, the Prologue, or even the Matriarch could get me there. But I think I would really enjoy the ride more right now in the Summit.
      I hope this makes sense and I hope I didn't babble too much.
      Peace.

      Ted Stahl I am not very productive in music, that's why I find it hard to invest a large sum into it by buying a flagship synth. Then again, a setup with few instruments that have great power seems to make more sense than a myriad of smaller stuff that hardly get used all the time. We'll see, as soon as I have the money available. But this video here certainly helps to sell the Peak!

    That Novation Peak is an amazin' machine. I look forward to more of yer demos on it . And hey, I just got my Godin DS-1 Daryl Stuermer signature guitar. excuse my ignorance, but, what does the Peak can do the same or similar a workstation like the Montage or the Kronos?

    • @synth4ever
      @synth4ever  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not an expert on those synths but I recall they are purely digital (no analog filters, VCAs etc) and have a more "workstation"-based workflow (ie lots of menu diving, touchscreens etc)... whereas Peak is a hybrid digital/analog synth (analog filters etc) with lots of knobs for immediate hands-on control, modulateable effects, wavetables etc. for quick and easy sound design.
