I found your video really helpful. I've stayed at the Luxor and MGM Grand, and really want to stay at the Golden Gate once just because of its historical status of the first and oldest hotel/casino in Vegas. Your video gives me a real good idea of what to expect. Thanks again!
In 1976 I worked behind the Dice tables at the GG. Everyone said I had talent as a dealer and would move on in possibly less than a year. Being so young I could not resist the temptations of gambling due to the Stardust opening the first hotel sport and race book. I moved back home but still enjoyed going to LV on a 4 day weekend trip that where huge back then.
Good to see the detailed review - I would have liked to see a walkthorugh of the casino, that's probably the most interesting space in the building, and a pan of all of the exterior great neon signs it has. People stay there for the gambling history, and probably so hammered out of their mind a hair or a stain won't be too big of a deal.
Great review. Agree with your room assessment. Works for me for flying solo or on a guy's trip, but definitely only staying there because it is comped. They also have some nicer refurbished suites that are larger, more modern, and reasonably priced.
The Golden Gate is one the oldest hotels in Las Vegas! The casino and the fixtures in the bathroom are retro because they have been there forever. You can call them retro, but they're just old! That sheet was disgusting, why didn't you call the front desk and get it changed? Otherwise, great review.
So, your video does not show necessarily all of the truth. I have stayed at the Golden Gate a few times. Never have I had a dirty room. As far as parking, if you are staying at the Golden Gate, you can valet your car, and only walk 3 feet into the door to check in. As for the rooms, they are very old, as this is a historic hotel. so for those that are saying that they do not want to stay there, good. More room for me. More room for people like me, who appreciate the old beautiful parts of that hotel. No, it is not a luxury hotel, you will not find a coffee pot in your room, and yes, the hairdryer is kept on the TV stand in the bedroom, and the rooms are tiny. But, considering how old this hotel is, and what it was used for back in the day, these rooms were very spacious. For one or two nights, and one or two people, these rooms are perfect. Any complaints, and you are just wasting your time. I will forever defend the golden gate. The people who work there, the guests who appreciate their stay, and those who enjoy just sitting at the historic bar and having a drink with the amazing and wonderful bartenders. Your stay, and your opinion, I apologize, but, again I have stayed there several times, and have never had a problem. Or an issue.

The casino is why I stay here once in awhile. It’s comped of course. Great vibe and music in the casino, hot girls dealing the cards w 3/2 blackjack!

Two reasons I won't stay at GG: the bathrooms are like the public restrooms at a bus station, and it's very loud into the early morning, 3am.
They put all of their money into the Circa and forgot about the rest of their properties
