    Even when I go to sleep after a full day of eating (3 meals, snacks) I'll wake up within an hour, make a beeline for the kitchen, then snack. I know what I'm doing but have zero resolve to stop myself. Only after I snack do I think "uh-oh, this won't be good tomorrow" but before that, nothing stops me. I've made signs, blocked the kitchen with barricades, put up police DO NOT CROSS tape, and put stumbling blocks in the way....I just step over it all, ignore it, and snack. I wake up feeling MISERABLE and vow never to do it again, then it happens again. It's seriously ruining my quality of life and I've suffered from this for years (two decades?). I'm at my wit's end. I feel like someone else possesses me in the night and I can't stop them until it's too late.

      Lonnie Carbaugh this is something I have been dealing with since my 20’s I’m 36 now. It’s frustrating and embarrassing, and messes up my day of good dieting!

      I lost 45 pounds. Now gained 10 again in 2 months because I started night eating again. It’s so hard to fight this urge. My wife doesn’t understand. She says just stop. But there is so much more to it.
      I saw another video, they explain sleep deprivation can cause hormones in your body to produce something exactly the same as the hormone that gives you the “munchies”. So that may be why it’s unstoppable.

      @@dwinkler0128 I'm happy to report that since my comment 3 years ago I've been able to get my night eating under control. I've gone 15 months without an incident. One night at a time.

    Thank you for the tips, but with NES (Night Eating Syndrome) I am unable to eat breakfast (or any meal before my stomach is ready) without feeling ill for the rest of the day. I get up to eat because my body needs the nutrition - I never 'lay in bed thinking about eating', it's automatic. Foods that 'turn my stomach' to even think of eating during the day are appealing and fine with my tummy at night... if only it was as simple as eating breakfast and distracting myself at night.

      Bless this comment. I straight up go the entire day until dinner without a trace of hunger.. *sigh* and I hate forcing myself to eat

    Thank you for this. I thought I was the only one. It does not happen all the time but usually when I am exhausted or I need sleep the most do I wake up 1 to 2 hours afterwards and I will reach for the first thing I can get, because I am in my semi truck. Next thing you know I will be eating two bags of Cheetos and go in the fridge and get some cheese sticks. Great tips and very useful video.

    I had/have a serious a problem with this, for years I’d wake up super hungry and eat whatever I could. I was/would be half awake and would always regret it. I luckily live with family members and they have locked both the fridge and pantry with locks and codes. Slowly over time each day got easier and easier. My sleep has improved and I have dropped significant weight. If you are struggling with this, you can kick this habit and I believe in you.

      You can still choose to eat high fiber foods during your eating times.

    try a small glass of milk and a banna instead.

  • @sherrihurst4043
    @sherrihurst4043 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    sometimes you are really hungry at night, think healthy snack apple, banna, glass of milk.

    • @sherrihurst4043
      @sherrihurst4043 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A banna doesn't make me want more sugar and I eat green apple that are less sweet. Some people maybe different.
