      You are so right. Other brands either make their cars so different to distinguish the difference, or they give the luxury look to their cheaper cars years later.

      The touring version of the accord is the price of the standard tlx. The tlx gets more luxurious as you add more money. The base model of the accord probally won't come with led. (Like the crv)

  • @ErwinSchrodinger64

    Since Honda doesn't offer a high performance sports car it would be nice if they offered a 3.5 variant of the V6 with direct injection, higher compression ratio, higher RPM, and so forth so it could push 330 hp+. Offer the 8-speed double clutch manual (from Acura) and now they could play in the performance arena. Furthermore, a little bit of weight saving and this car would be a beast. Honda is capable of so much and I understand why they don't. However, it would be nice.

      Could not agree with you more. Honda has been putting all their focus into their own brand, while not developing the Acura brand at nowhere close to the speed they need to be going. Acura still hasn't gotten their performance line, and is still getting low numbers in engines that should be outputting much more power. Even the interiors are now starting to look like Honda when it comes to these dual lcd screens. Unbelievable

    • @nigmosh65

      ***** no man, the TLX has a far superior suspension on it. the accord handles very poorly and is rough on the bumpy roads. the TLX is smooth yet corners like a mofo, which is consistent with luxury cars. that's where the money goes. plus, you can't even get sh-awd on the accord, that's a huge, huge, element many will pay extra for. the interior in the accord is also just ho-hum, with mediocre leather (not a flame, as it's on-par with camry, etc) but it's not that high grain leather you'll get with the acura.

    @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Looks nice. Can't wait to see it in person and the LEDs headlights at night. Acura really needs to step up the mid-cycle refresh for the TLX and especially for the RLX. Those headlights look VERY premium and maybe too closely aligned to the just-released 2016 ILX. Honda/Acura is treading a very fine line with their standard and premium brands.

    • @cornsuckle912
      @cornsuckle912 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Couldnt't agree more. Honda has been hugely limiting the amount of money they are putting into Acura for development. And this has been clearly shown. Honda really needs to get it together when it comes to this.

    • @nigmosh65
      @nigmosh65 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The thing is, Honda doesn't give Acura enough resources to differentiate itself from Honda.

    • @farhan007
      @farhan007 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      senorgato70 This new Accord looks more expensive than the Acura TLX. Looks at the rear end of the new Accord. To shiny chrome exhaust tips while the TLX goes the Prius route and hides them, and the TLX is supposed to be the 'premium' sports luxury car.

    • @senorgato70
      @senorgato70 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Farhan Chowdhury Personally, I think the TLX's overal look cleaner and more refined than the updated Accord. Yes, many details of the Accord look nice, but they also border on a bit gawdy, especially the grille. Like I said in my OP, it will be interesting to see where Acura now goes with its mid-cycle refresh of the TLX. I'm sure they will spruce it up pretty significantly just like they did with the updated ILX. As far as the exhaust tips, I think that adds to Acura's more refined and cleaner look.

    • @farhan007
      @farhan007 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      senorgato70 unless its a Tesla any car that is advertised as 'performance' shouldn't hide exhaust tips. It makes it look like a hybrid or a low powered 4 banger

    This is why Acura fails. Their 'sports luxury' sedan in the TLX looks like a Prius with the tail pipes not exposed while the Accord has an aggressive more expensive looking rear end with two shiny exhaust tips. Why?

    • @emantabrizi
      @emantabrizi 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Farhan Chowdhury Hiding the exhaust tips looks better, IMO. If you're going to add an aftermarket exhaust, that's one thing...but if you're just going to leave it stock, why would you want to look at stock exhaust tips?

    • @gmualum08
      @gmualum08 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cuz for a car enthusiast being able to see exhaust tips reminds you of its sporty intentions. Shit I test drove the 2015 ILX in a manual (also hidden exhaust tips) and the piece of shit was loud and obnoxious inside the cabin for nearly 30 grand (not the sexy loud either). They need to just dismantle Acura and start over IMO.

    A bit picky, but why doesn't Honda add a place to store change in the car? And I don't mean the little slot under the armrest that holds 6 quarters. I mean a tray to throw all the pennies, nickels, etc. you get for change at a drive thru. There would be placement to put a pull out tray to the left of the steering wheel.
    Really wish the backseat was a 60/40 fold down as well.

    I used to be excited about the accord coupe. Everything they showed in this Touring addition (rims + led lighting) will easily push it into the mid $30 grand range and at that point I'm just not interested anymore. Plus I'm still really not sold on those jewel LEDs. Audi and Kia make lights that are futuristic looking. Acura/Honda's look a bit tacky. If I want sport I'll stick with the civic.

      Ethan Walker The EX-L and under have sick headlights, but I agree on the jewel ones here. Too much and honestly not sure how these are the higher end light option when all the other models have a much crisper tone to it - comparable to higher end brands honestly.

    The Type R engine that is produced in Ohio will be available in the U.S. In 2016; after Honda America creates an America version of this engine which will be "detuned" for the American marketplace. Currently it has 300 h.p. and around 290 lbs. of torque for Europe market! The American Type R version will first go into the Civic but later on maybe Honda America will have it an engine option for the Accord too.

    HPF? Whatever happened to the old Japanese performance arms like Mugen, Nismo, TRD, MazdaSpeed, etc.? Also, kinda like the fact that I can get heated rear seats on this but can't on the TLX. Seems kind of pointless to spend the money on the Acura if you ask me.

      I totally agree. As a car design student and a Honda/Acura fanboy, Acura seems to be lagging so much compared to her "lower end" counterpart. That's saying a lot about how Honda.

    • @oldtwins
      @oldtwins 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      joedogg9836 there's a huge difference. The TLX is the same platform, yet offers far more luxury such as cooled seats, premium leather, far better sound system, and sh-awd, none of which is afford on the accord. also, the Acura's have a sophisticated suspension that rides so much better on bumpy roads yet has much tighter handling capabilities. the suspension alone is something easily worth paying extra for and I wish Honda would offer it. but that's where they differentiate.

    Here's what Roman isn't telling you. 1.) You can't get navigation if you opt for the 6 speed manual transmission, unlike the 2013-2015 model. 2.) The standard wheels for the coupe 6speed manual are hideous compared to the 2013-2015 model. If you want nice looking wheels, it's going to cost you a $1400 to upgrade to the 19" HFP wheels. Unfortunately 19" wheels do not ride as well as 18" on this car.

    Please help. I am considering the 2017 Honda Accord Sport Manual or the 2017 Mazda 6 manual. Which one would be the most fun to drive? Which one would have the better transmission, better steering, better seating position? Keep up the good work.

      Mazda 6 has skyactive and their vector technology. Way better driving experience but you can't go wrong with an accord coupe either for both 2017 models. The 2018 mazda 6 model has more horsepower
