  • I have several Haworthia plants in my succulent collection, including some Truncata varieties. This video will cover when and how I water them. Some of the information is applicable to succulents in general. Sometimes, succulent care can be tricky, especially watering. Hopefully, some of these tips can help you.

    Beautiful, healthy haworthias. Importantly, how often do you water them? Mine are in pumice and I water them once a week(spring here).

    I am using the same watering method and it works great and very convenient, especially on echeverias that have power on leaves

    • @veggedout1030
      @veggedout1030  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right; This method is very convenient. It's a fast/easy way to water a lot of plants, and it helps avoid water spots and other issues with leaves.

    I need to water like this. I love these plants and every winter all my plants with "wjndows" go shiny blue/black steel like colour . They do t seem to have root rot , some do die some recover but never get back to bright green. 🇬🇧 in the winter the plants are u der grow lights 8-10hrs and have heating at 19-23 degrees Celsius.

    Best Haworthia collection I've seen!!! I need to give akadama a try, please talk more about your growing mediums. Do you recommend using nursery pots, which tend to have more drainage holes since you water with this system?

    • @veggedout1030
      @veggedout1030  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I plan on making some videos about growing mediums (Akadama for sure). In general, I prefer nursery-type-pots over decorative pots for this watering system, because more fit in a tray, better drainage/air flow, and better capillary action. When it comes to cacti and succulents, I prefer the green pots in this video. I will make a video about them at some point. Thanks again, and have an amazing Wednesday.

    I water mine when it’s dry but the windows are so skinny, should I water them more often? Or will they get root rot? Oddest succulent I have water wise tbh

  • @artistevivien
    @artistevivien 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    FINALLY I've identified what this succulent is. A few of the outer leaves have yellowed and I got worried, didn't know whether I was watering it too little or not... but it was probably too little since I was doing it the wrong way by just spraying it every 2 days.

    • @veggedout1030
      @veggedout1030  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vivien If the leaves are yellow and squishy, you’re probably watering it too much. In my experience, every two days is a lot, and spraying the leaves directly every two days is too much. I avoid getting water directly on the leaves. I still do, just not that often. Good luck.

    • @artistevivien
      @artistevivien 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@veggedout1030 Ok, thanks for the tip! They were yellowed and thoroughly dried out, not squishy. Today I just watered the soil instead of spritzing it, the soil was dry as a desert.

    Your succulents look amazing, healthy and huge. Do you fertilize them? Thanks for sharing

    • @veggedout1030
      @veggedout1030  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you. I put dry, organic fertilizer in the pots during planting or transplanting. After that, I rarely fertilize them. The plants in this video probably haven't had any fertilizer or compost tea in over a year. In my experience, most of my succulents thrive on neglect. Thanks again, and you are very welcome. Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday.

I have a mix succulent soil, but I believe it’s to dense so I got yesterday pumice which I intend to use today with all my babies... Temperature ranges from height 70 to low 90F at the moment. It was on the balcony in the shade. But I decided to bring them all inside since we get hailing and strong rains out of no where...
