There's a saying, "Buying Yarn And Using It Are Two Different Hobbies" I find it to be VERY true ha. I also love that when someone's a crafter you can pick up on their favorite colors by the materials they buy. Even when we try to get variety, patterns tend to emerge lol.
Tiffany, you’re killing me with the knitting for olives, there’s no s in the name 😂 loving the podcast though! Might need to stop watching for the evening and resume when I can actually knit while listening. My favourite way to knit these days, love knitting podcasts
I enjoy watching your podcasts so much 🥰 through your videos I found the inspiration to pick up my knitting needles again, my grandma taught me how to knit when I was 6 years old, but then through my teenage years I got frustrated because I never knew what to knit and now I found plenty of inspiration and can't stop knitting! Thanks for your great content
can u pls make a video showing how you combine your yarns! like mixing mohair with acrylic to make a sweater. also how you join two threads in an invisible knot when moving to the next skein to avoid bulky knots!!! ur podcasts are actually the best :)
Suggestion for the lavender and pink top to feel comfortable wearing it: wear it over a sheer collared/ long sleeve blouse. Will give it a lovely Regency period appearance ( think: Pride & Prejudice)
I love your podcast and watching you discover all the new to you knitting ❤️❤️❤️ It makes me so happy. One thing I wanted to mention about using the alpaca yarn is that it can have a lot of drape. It doesn’t hold its shape the way a wool or acrylic does. It’s a gorgeous fiber and sooooo incredibly soft, but it may not be best suited to knitting a top since it is 90% Suri. It would be lovely as a shawl or another accessory. It might be fine as a top too, but you want to make sure you account for the extra drape factor when you choose your pattern. ❤️
Tiffany PLEASE we all buy this much yarn / love seeing other people buy all the yarn so please don't feel bad we are living through you!!! also ps. I'm also obsessed with Petiteknit patterns as well as MyFavoriteThingsKnitwear and pretty much only knit their patterns... I always love the look of them and it's more comforting as you know the pattern is going to come out beautiful because their designs are also true to the picture and reliable. Love you!
Ahh Im so glad I found this!! I mostly crochet but I’m really trying to get into knitting as well. I would really love if you could do some crochet videos. I really adore your knitting videos as well, so much inspiration!! Thank you!!💗
Hey girl here's an idea for ya ☺ mix those 10gram mini's with the awreta yarn you showed last to make socks & use the 10gram mini's for the toes, heals, & cuffs of the socks 😁 those would be super fun 😀 love the podcast btw 🥰
I'm sure someone already said this but when it's difficult to pick up the whole strand of yarn it's generally called "splitting" because the yarn splits through the centre. Some yarns are super prone to splitting and letting us know is one of the great things for yarn bloggers to tell their audiences!!
omg you could totally use the little 10g samples for granny squares? border them all with the same colour and if you continue getting the subscription box you can slowly build up to a small/large blanket!! would be so colourful and cute AHHHH
Wonderful! Love listening to the yarn chat and project updates. The way you think about yarn acquisition is so different from me. I'm very 'oo! shiny Object!' and end up with six different skeins, none the same weight in colors that don't match. BUT if you do that enough times, you end up with stuff that goes together XD
Omg I’m from Victoria!! Hearing you talk about the beehive wool shop was so cool but so strange at the same time! You should definitely move here haha!
Omg. The Knitting for Olive color seleccctttiooonn!!! The color is kind of crazy but I’ve been eyeing the Hokkaido color way. I really should just take a page out of your book and bite the bullet.
I like how you are so excited about the Sandnes yarn, and whenever I see a store that sells Sandnes I be like "nope, onto the next shop" 😅 and tynn means thin, and is said kinda similar just with a y. TOVE is great for felting if you want to try that :)
@@typicalbliss Honestly, I just feel as if it is super over-prised and most of it is super itchy :P I will much rather buy filcolana, drops and so many other brands :) But I do sometimes buy Sandnes, forexample fritidsgarn is my favourite yarn to use for felting, and the perfect yarn looks really good on photos (for socks) :)
Arwetta is my absolute favourite yarn hands down and i also love the podcasts also i support your yarn addiction - currently been on a failing yarn diet for abt 2 months now.. whoops
I have been making the Marseille Sweater by PetiteKnit because of you and I am SO excited to wear it in the fall! I'm doing it in a dark teal color with cream stripes and I can't seem to put it down lately!
I love that fuzzy yarn from WAK! I am using a single strand of mine to make petiteknit's stockholm sweater and it's beautiful but has been testing my patience hehe
I know you’re located in Canada but you can try Shop La Mercerie? She carries Knitting for Olive in a good variety so I hope you can find what you’re looking for!! Loved watching this podcast, so chatty and fun!!
Tiffany! I'm not sure how much shipping will be to get from Toronto --> Van, but The Knitting Loft in usually has pretty solid stock of a lot of Knitting For Olive yarns! I've been able to find super popular colorways in large enough quantities for camisoles and sweaters. Might have been luck, but TKL is DEFINITELY a great yarn spot to check out in T.O.
dunno if anyone's already said (or if u already know???) but "tynn merinoull" means thin merino wool. (words are written together but pronounced apart.) sandnes often just name them what it literally is or can be used for, I think. I find it helpful👌🏻 I think it's wonderful how obsessed you are with sandnes, over here (sweden) it's one of those good-quality-available-anywhere yarns and you no doubt have similar brands with same quality locally (albeit maybe not exact same colours). buying that yarn you're yearning for beats anything, I'm just saying that sandnes probably isn't one in a million unique, but you know, far away... I suppose knitting is a little different here, cuz it's cold, etc.? (also, continental>english)😅 but u guys have a rich needlecraft history too, right???
Ha! If you don’t like knitting cardigans flat, you’re going to have to learn how to steek! Marly Bird just did a really good KAL and tutorial series for a steeked cardi with Paton’s Classic Wool. The design is on the ‘mature’ side but I think you could put your unique flare on it with color and cropping, and probably skipping the pockets. The vids are on YT.
I am a crocheter, but am dabbling into knitting.. But i think your amazing. Your work is just 😍😍😍😍. So flippin pretty!! Such talent!! Keep buying yarn, it's what makes you and the rest of us happy!! So... When do you plan on a yarn room? 🤔🤔😄😄
Wow love your anker summer shirt, I’ve been thinking about casting one on so this may be my next cast on. Also listening to your yarn buying adventures has been hilarious. I think we’re from the same area (I live in Vancouver) so if you need some yarn store recommendations let me know! You can also try artofyarn, which is a yarn store in Kelowna but they also do shipping for the knitting for olive yarn. I swear last time I checked they had a bunch of the silk mohair dusty artichoke colourway (they also have this point system for members where you can accumulate points to get $$ of of future purchases, which probably isn’t the best for someone trying to go on a yarn diet haha).
Oops I’m pretty sure I stole the last dusty artichoke soft silk mohair from under you… imo Knitting for Olive is not too expensive since even with international shipping, it was still cheaper than buying the only mohair I can get locally.
Wow! I vote for the Camisole no 5 It is beautiful And please don’t be afraid to wear the lilac princess top you made while you’re young. I am 30 now and I regret being so scared to show my arms and stomach thinking I was fat. Haha had I know how I would look now in my 30s after 3 kids. I mean I love myself now and that’s kind of the problem that I love myself more now than when I was young and not fat at all. I don’t know your reason for not being brave enough to wear it outside as you said but I hope is not because of how you look. Obviously you are beautiful but when young we tend to think we’re not.
I came up with it myself but it is a copy of a design so I have been on the fence about posting one (however the design is in Korean and u have to buy the kit)
