This works for really well for alpine gear as well to but you absolutely need it for Tele. The easiest way I've found to visualize it for newer skiers is to have them in their boots (skis not necessary) and have them lean to one side and see how their boots are automatically going on edge. Once they understand that the edges of the ski do most of the work in turning and are the parts of the ski that provide stability, it usually sinks in pretty fast. BTW, I'm NOT a PSA instructor, just giving a tip or two to friends new to the sport.

It's crazy as I tried telemark skiing for the first time last week and automatically I wanted to twist my torso like you've mentioned and also about slightly dragging your poles, it just seemed natural to do that and I now understand why some Telemark skiers have one big pole and use it like an oar!

It is a lurk. Sadly I do not see tele skiers using lurks here in Utah.

@@WildMidwest1 I've only seen people use it in exhibition of old skiers etc. Packs style though 👌

A couple of years ago I purchased the 7 flaws. It's completely changed my Telemark skiing. These tips on carving on "ice" and hard pack are very appropriate since I'm a New England (NH) skier. Others have asked.. what's going on? My response is Absolute Telemark - of course!

I never heard of the chin position tips. I can already feel it just thinking about that. I live cues like these.
