I wonder what a post WWI Germany that doesn't fall into this morass could've been like? Where are the junctures where the dark future could've been avoided? I know the Communists and the Nazis were fighting in the streets with each other -- that makes the news (and Time Ghost) but I would guess that the vast majority of Germans wanted nothing to do with either. History is not just entertainment, it's also instructive. There were a lot of very positive things happening in Weimar Germany. We also shouldn't forget that this is by far not the only or first minority government by central parties tolerated by the SPD. Rather, that was the norm throughout most of the Weimar Republic. It was not a particularly stable arrangement, but hardly revolutionary or unheard-of.

Never realized the intro was so graphic
forgot to mention the picture of Spartacus Olsson there also
Awww man. It's just depressing how few people know this part of history well, and how they fail to see so many of the same patterns today... It's rather frightening how familiar this all feels, isn't it?
Bravo for shining light on what I believe is the most important part if history: How a democracy falls.
Man you can tell these two dudes really enjoy what they do.
Wo ist Indy Neidell???
Indy, Spartacus, Is there any chance you guys could do a special on the Reichsbanner Schwartz -Rot-Gold? There is very little available on them in English.
I must say Spartacus sure can rock a beard!
How far will this series go? 1933? 39? 45?
2024!
My guess is that it will end when WW2 picks up.
This series in its current form unfortunately can only go until somewhere in 1933 because the Nazis clamp down heavily on the free press, but we are going to cover the events until 1939, although in a slightly different format!
Wo ist Indy?
At 6min: ''Wo ist Indy Neidell'' -> this is unfair my German really isn't up to standard to read that and I am sure I am missing like 5 jokes in one :(
It translates as "Where is Indy Neidell?"
@@WorldWarTwo I know, I am talking about the text under it.....
Great production quality. Boy we’’ve come a long way since 1914!
Thank you, wouldn't be possible without the TimeGhost Army!
I prefer to look towards the future. "This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who."
These two got transported 15 years back in time
Um ... at 6:00 ze text of zis Volks-Zeitung is Hynkel-Doitsch? A masterpiece =)
Fascinating
Great series, but should have been done years ago as part of between two wars
"Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." (attributed to Benjamin Franklin)
8:17 I thought “cat” as “buddy” was just a 1970’s slang.
Impeccable German accent at 24:18.
More and more the history repeats itself
