Indian here. I went to military school as a kid (AFS). We were inspected to check if we wore anything else apart from skincare (like moisturizer & sunscreen) and body powder (to tackle rashes from humidity). We were strictly told to maintain proper grooming from a very young age for hygiene purposes. It was my parents who abused me financially, refusing to purchase any proper hygiene products. As an adult now, I make sure to stick to what I was taught back then. And also use things which I need.
In India, you gotta look homeless to enter your class. I got scolded by a teacher for using Maybelline baby lips(the tinter lipbalm). Teachers are too strict in India 😂

Hi, I'm Indonesian and believe me, teachers here and high organizations in Indonesian schools really hate students wearing sunscreen and lip balm and it will be burned if a student brings it even though Indonesia is a hot country but they don't care about that, cutting men's hair to 5 cm in length, only wearing plain black shoes and cutting even colored shoelaces even white, and if these rules are violated they will punish him or report it to the student's parents. But teachers have no rules at all at school so they are free to wear makeup, in fact they only wear sandals to school and when they are late for school they just go in casually without saying "sorry" to their students. They are really like people who are insecure if there are handsome and beautiful students hahaha. What do you think?
My older cousins advice for high-school was: if you go in the first day wearing make up, they'll think thats just what you look like. It's crazy to us because we are generally allowed to wear whatever we want to school (besides uniformed schools that require a base layer of a polo shirt and khaki bottoms), lol.
@@cutienerdgirl Y'all need to start appreciating the freedom you are given. 💀💀 💀 Here in Asia, many uniformed schools don't even allow you to wear a hoodie because it "covers the school's logo on the uniform". In my school, we aren't even allowed to wear leather jackets (or anything that looks like leather because "it's unnecessary"), we can't wear anything other than jeans as pants (and they have to be dark blue or else we get sent home), any jacket we want to wear has to have a zipper (to keep the school logo showing when unzipped) and be dark blue or black, heck even our shoes should be black or blue. My school's one of the most strict in my country though, there are other schools that allow students to paint their nails or choose what colour of clothy they want to wear. What's worse is that it's not even a good school (they unintentionally make lessons harder than they should be) and all they care about is what we wear instead of caring about the quality of education. The only reason I can write a coherent and intelligible sentence in English is because of the internet, because their education is quite bad (especially when it comes to languages).
In Australia we’re not allowed to wear makeup to school, or at least to any school I’ve ever been to. The teachers all literally carry makeup wipes with them everywhere and if they catch you with makeup on the stand there and make you wipe off the makeup. We all just do the slightest bit of concealer, small mascara, and tinted lip balm or lip gloss.
lol. I’ve been to private and public schools in Australia. Only rule in private school was we needed to wear long hair in a ponytail and stick to uniform, however I could wear makeup at both public and private. Don’t speak for all of Australia
That is such a ridiculous rule. The policing of young bodies in such a strict way is pretty disgusting. The sexism in Asian countries is on another level along with the strict conservative beliefs, pressure to conform to societal norms, an absolutely unreal high beauty standards, and now you can’t even wear makeup to shield yourself against bullying which is super bad in East Asian countries partially due to competitive the education system is? I know America has MAJOR issues but the more I learn the more thankful I am to have at least grown up here. It seems like a lot of these places are nice for foreigners but just absolutely suck for the native people especially for kids.
This is so wild to me not because you're not allowed to wear makeup but because where I'm from we were also not allowed to wear makeup but nobody cared and no one wore makeup. Everyone just looked like a sweaty zombie mess 😂😂😂
In india its ok to wear normal moisturizer or face cream and lip balms as long as the lip balms are not too tinted but light tints are fine and i used to do my brows too but never for caught. The way majority of the commemts assume schools ban the use of makeup for noble and honorable reasons is laughable to me. Then again , majority of schools are set up to educate students but only to prepare them for the workforce.
@@probablyyourfault8524 school is for getting students ready for the workforce not education, why can't they explore it during school as well? Why do schools have the right to heavily restrict how students express themselves?
I don't think it's a huge deal to ban makeup, school is not the place for that kind of thing. If anything, school uniform helps a lot with preventing bullying towards poorer students who can't afford the newest fashion trends. It makes everyone equal.

Unpopular opinion: i went to a school that didn't even allow a tinted lip balm, no nail paints, long nails, no hairstyle other than two ponytails, extremely strict when it comes to school uniform and dressing. And I, tbh didn't mind it. I feel like this should be done in all the schools, yoy don't need to worry about the way you look when youre in school. Why would a child need to worry about her eyebags? Her pingmentation? Her nose shape? As long as i was in school i was never insecure of my looks. I felt the prettiest despite having a few pimples on my face, having eyebags, having thick facial hair. Now that im out of school, despite taking so much care of myself, having clear skin, i still don't feel that confident about myself. Of course, people have different opinions but i feel like a schooler should only focus on their studies, sports , having fun and live their life to fullest, instead of finding ways to sneak a full face of makeup to school. It is just sad to think about, a child feeling the need to cover up their face in makeup to go to school
I don't remember where I saw it, but a study showed that schools with uniforms (and strict dress codes) had less bullying. It's a little far fetched, but it isn't ridiculous.
I agree w u and I go to a school where anything is allowed and it's pretty annoying since some girls actually comment on me not wearing make up and stuff but in schools which don't allow make up I see in the comments people say the teachers would be bullies and stuff so to that extent, no it's not that nice. I think full face make up shouldn't be allowed yk but a little make up shouldn't be that bad. I also feel like this no make up make up look is very dumb. Like, you look the same, why wear it? Why waste the time putting it on if nothing changes? It's like putting shoes on with nothing to step on (idk how it's called, '' sole? ''). Anyway, if it makes you happy do it but I feel like it's a bit exaggerating, at that age nobody looks '' horrible'' in the end, everything surrounding make up is prob just based on trends and lack of confidence cause by the fake stuff we compare ourselves to on the internet.
I did go to such a school where everything was so strict. Like if you had a back brush hairstyle ( it was damn popular those days) teachers would make you recomb your hair in front of the entire school. But yes I was bullied extensively for not being pretty. So strict rules= no bullying make no sense
@@akankshasatapathy3357that teachers were monsters, but yeah maybe the bullying doesn't dissapaer but is lesser but for that to happen it's also about the values of the students and teachers

1.) it's a nice way to spend time with yourself in the morning to mentally prepare yourself for school. 2.) you can express yourself and bring out your confidence. 3.) it's fun (There's a lot to be said about feeling the NEED to wear makeup, because at the end of the day, you don't need it. School should be first.)
IMO if I'm a teenager now, I wouldn't want to have make up on because break outs are bad during or just after puberty. Also the bullying, just like having uniform, no make up rule protects the less fortunate students. With that said, I do think that school should have class to teach how to dress, hygiene, and makeup(maybe only standard makeup in last few years of school). So that the students are informed properly. Some kids don't have access to adequate hygiene or know how to dress for occasions. Make up products that kids buy can be wasteful if they just follow influencers. I'm also in favour of school teaching how to cook, sew, change lightbulb, basic wood working. But I think Japanese schools have some of these options.
@@sumlemnah, you are just brain washed to think you are only worth it if you use it. Make-up industry has done amazingly lately making even younger girls feel they need make-up always. The purpose is to enhance features, to look more alive especially if you pulled all nighter, and some of us find makeup therapeutic to be part of our routine. ;)

(Advice also extends to hair dye and contact lenses) just like dont go too wild, you definitely weren't born with blue hair and pink eyes but you could be ginger with blue eyes, lmao.
Australia doesn’t let you either, I'm honestly surprised when places do allow makeup
Why would anyone be surprised that a girl is allowed to do her make up? It isn't hurting anyone.
It's crazy how female students get treated like criminals for using lipgloss.
@@Shield954 I’m more surprised it’s allowed because my school was really strict about what you could wear, right down to the size and shape of your earrings and the colour of your watch. I’ve also only ever heard of makeup being allowed in American schools.
My school, (also Australia) lets you have minimal makeup, so no lipstick or eyeshadow, but you can use mascara and concealer, which I find a good mid-point. I choose not to wear them, but my friends do.

Nah at my school (and the others ones around me) they never cared. A number of girls had full faces of essentially UK makeup and no one cared. They just cared about your attitude and uniform, and don't use ridiculously bright colours
australian private schools too. my school checks EVERYTHING, your nails, ur socks, if u have makeup, if u have stud earrings or not. So honeslty i dont knwo why they are so strict on our looks instead of education
In my old school makeup was allegedly prohibited and they would ask you to wash your face if they found you, but they barely ever looked the students in the face enough to tell them apart unless when they wore heavy blush so they would just say “i can see your mascara go wash your face” to anyone with unnaturally bold or long eyelashes 😭😭 I remember how somedays they would have checkups and my friends who brought their makeup to school would hide it in the teachers desk
I myself am a Japanese high schooler and i use the same techniques as her, but i use purple base sunscreen to give my skin a tone up and a little bit of blush so i don't look dead and lash former. Exactly

The way majority of the commemts assume schools ban the use of makeup for noble and honorable reasons is laughable to me. Teenagers wanna experiment, they wanna get on the lastest trend and explore who they are , schools should allow that exploration instead of crushing it. Then again , majority of schools are set up to educate students but only to prepare them for the workforce.
They can explore that after school. School is for learning, not for fashion

Who needs makeup at school?
1.) it's a nice way to spend time with yourself in the morning to mentally prepare yourself for school.
2.) you can express yourself and bring out your confidence.
3.) it's fun
(There's a lot to be said about feeling the NEED to wear makeup, because at the end of the day, you don't need it. School should be first.)
Ikr
