      I’m not a current PS Audio customer. I did buy a Juice Bar and Juice Bar II power strip, back in 2008. With that said I do like Paul he a great guy! He’s obviously trying to get more end users to buy his products that’s understandable. That’s why he does these videos. still he’s a good guy to do this nobody else is going to this extent to educate non-audiophiles and audiophiles about things that they don’t have any or limited knowledge of!

    Watching you guys go through the set-up of the FR30's has me flashing back more than 50 years to my tube monos built from kits and my diy speakers featuring 3 way cross overs in huge "sound shaped" home brew (from magazine plans) cabinets that were open at the bottoms (not reflex) - 12" woofers (later to be 15"), 6" midranges and horn tweeters, whodathunkit back then to where we are now! Words such as "sound stage", "imagining" didn't even exist, and no, we didn't have brawls over wire either!! If ya had left and right you were in - although ya had to be sure to buy "stereo" records to get that back then!

    Fantastic videos of Paul and Chris getting out there and really taking care of their customers. I'd really like to thank Chris B for his comment about being '"about 20% out of an equilateral triangle"' for seating position. This was the final tweak that really made my speakers disappear.

    Speakers sound better in this room then the first delivery at was done. I know it's depends on mics and so on but you can still get some idea of sound coming from the speakers. Sound very real this time. I wish there was a place here in NJ to demo this PS Audio speakers, I love to try the 1984 Album Time Warp by Erich Kunzel Cincinnati Pop Orchestra I love that disc for a demo shows every range of the speaker pretty much and if they can handle a butt kicking. I'm sure Jim (who probably is reading the comments) is super proud of the personalized service. The room dimensions are Awesome! Some small tweaks to his hybrid 2-channel/theatre setup acoustically would be easy to do to remove some of the deadness in the room. You can also see that he has large corner bass traps, but they are well hidden, which for sure are helping with the bass articulation. I think that they can probably be moved outward a bit by the owner to help his theatre setup, with a touch more toe-in. It would also be cool to see the frequency response measurement of the final position, but not necessary.
    Great job PS-Audio and congratulations to the owner! Enjoy in good health

      I kinda like my room, the speak wall is open on 2 sides. The back wall is 12' behind me and 18' in frt of me the only draw back is the rooms 25' wide + and 13' from frt to back wall so you really can't move the speakers off the wall, but the ports come out the frt of the tower speakers. The rooms not dead its more open so you really don't get reflected sounds. The energy is absorbed by the other large rooms.

    Sound Stage is much wider, deeper and taller than I would have expected for Speakers being so close together! I could eliminate my Mini DSP in-between the Pure DSD Stream and the Dac! No need for Parametric Equalization or Tone Controls either! A True Pinnacle of Achievement! Comparable to even the most expensive HiEnd I have heard at any Show! Can't wait to hear them in person! Superlative Creation!

    • @jah5035
      @jah5035 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seriously, how can you possibly tell anything about sound stage, depth, etc., considering the recording was done using a few wireless mics that were in constant motion? They may be great speakers, but you couldn’t possibly ascertain that from this video, especially considering TH-cam's compression algorithm.

    • @j.m.harris4202
      @j.m.harris4202 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jah5035 50 years of Near Field Listening where everything comes through mics gives you a good idea of what is going on! Especially Post Fade! After you have listened to hundreds of different Speaker Manufacturers equipment you hear the subtle differences! Compression just limits Dynamic Range, not nuances! But the higher quality mics are most capable of picking up the Finest Details, Tonality, Spacial Properties and more if you have a Trained Ear!

    Awesome sound when he played his quoboz track! Nice room and you can definitely hear when you guys were talking how the room is overdamped obviously for is home theater set up but not applicable for two channel sound!
    He’s got those absorption panels on the right wall maybe 6 feet from the Loudspeakers between two curtains if he were to replace that with the diffuser would have a much better impact!
    I wonder which Rockport model he had those are very heavy dense loudspeakers over $100,000 and he chose the FR 30s, $30,000., 1/3rd or 1/5th the Rockford cost! that speaks volumes about your awesome FR 30s Paul!
    Aaron Copland microphone was in the wrong position it should’ve been in the center, it was off to the left! Love the FR30’s! Very impressive! Wow!

    • @ryanschipp8513
      @ryanschipp8513 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What would speak the most volumes is the customer giving his input on how it the PS audio speakers sound compared to the Rockport speakers. Just because he had a $100,000 speaker and he bought a 30000 speaker that doesn't tell us anything. He obviously bought them before he even heard them. I'm willing to bet my first and second child that it's simply a different sound but not necessarily A Better Sound. That's what I've learned from different speakers in the three Rigs and my place is the sounds are just different. It's not like one sounds fantastic and the other one sounds like crap.

  • @Connectronix

    So much better than the last set-up.
    Between the two set ups so far, it should be obvious how big of a role the room itself plays in the overall system and flexibility of set up. It’s not just about throwing as much high-end equipment as you can into a room and hoping for the best, but actually maximizing the equipment and speaker integration with the room itself. Because of starting out with a good room, look at how much easier, flexible and quicker that speaker set-up was compared to the first one. 👍🏼
    I hope this helps prove to people how important it is to start with a good room first.

    I heard the IRS V on many occasions and these new FR30 seem close to the dynamic impact of those speakers. On a couple of the recordings, it seems a little too much bass, but I am sure the microphone was not in the optimal location. I am very impressed. I would love to hear a direct, side-by-side comparison with the Focal Utopia Evo or Stellas. I love the way these speakers look. PS Audio did a fantastic job with these speakers in both sound quality and design. Too often folks have to make a compromise between the two. The only suggestion I have is to possibly add the ability to tilt the tweeter and possibly mid-range slightly, without having to tilt the entire speaker.

      I like that the PS Audio speakers can be pulled apart to replace parts at home...if necessary. Some Magico speakers have to be shipped back to the factory if things need to be replaced because of the way they are constructed. That means shipping a 150+ lbs speaker to the factory and not having it for 3-4 weeks. PS Audio=Customer Service.

    Obviously this customer enjoys good home theater as well. Those speakers have a very high gloss finish. When the lights go out those speakers will reflect light like mirrors on each side while watching a movie which would be very annoying for me. Maybe a future option for a less reflective surface or cover for the sides?

    Did you ever do any listening with his subs running? I can't imagine why you would need to but I was just wondering if you tried them. Also, getting good depth and width in that over dampened room says a lot for the speakers themselves. 40 years ago I had a 2nd story music room with 2 walls exposed to city noise and I insulated and dampened to excess. All but the plaster covered brick chimney coming up from the fireplace the floor below. One day I was standing between the speakers, just behind the front face of them and noticed a wonderful sound stage coming from the reflection on that hard plaster wall over brick. It was my first time hearing what reflections can add to the sound. If the owner of that room takes their advice and livens up the room just a little in the correct places he will be more than a little surprised how it will open up in ways he may never have heard before. Thanks Paul and Chris for your patience and skill with these installs.

    The Bass response and entire frequency range over my phone, from your video camera in the customers theater room is impressive! An audiophile on the Bus!

    So it will cost us $28,000 to get both Paul and Chris in to our listening room, I think it's worth it, great sounding speakers.

    even on my Klipsch pro media computer speakers, I can totally hear the difference the fr30 is putting out. now I know it's nothing like being there but the difference is highly audible. Makes me want to save up for my dream ps audio system now that the fr30 is out..i await the "smaller" versions..:)

    I aspire to this level of coordination and tuning but it’s a little eccentric. I love it.

    A much more appropriate room for these speakers than the last video that's for sure. I got to say I'm a little shocked with people's semi modest homes buying $30,000 speakers!🤯🙄 And that's just for the speakers. To each their own I suppose.😇 I have a feeling Paul found a new chair to buy. I loved when he almost cursed when sitting in it because it is so comfortable.🤣😅🤣😂

      Once you go Eames you dont go back. Last year I found a 1962 model beat up at an antique store with the Ottoman and bought it for $500, had it restored and it is the finest chair I've ever sat in.

    A key moment of this discussion could benefit from additional clarity.
    The room is certainly not overly damped, it simply could benefit from diffusion/scattering in the midband on up.
    The inherent challenge of any typical residential listening room is maintaining a degree of liveliness and apparent source width ... while adequately damping the LF for ample clarity.
    Most all rooms are way overly reverberant in the LF.
    Generally, even decay times are desired across the octaves... this requires significant bass trapping, while retaining as much MF/HF as possible.
    I'd implement simple two dimensional diffusion targeted at ear/tweeter level, along the sidewalls.
    Other best practices include facing each absorber with 6mil Visqueen (limits MF/HF absorption).
    Also, much more absorption at the loudspeaker end of the room, and targeted ceiling absorption between the LP and the loudspeakers.
    In addition to LF trapping in all corners, the rear wall behind the listener, significant amounts of LF absorption, faced with modest yet adequate diffusion as needed.
    In all cases absorption can be Visqueen wrapped except ceiling, I'd suggest full bandwidth ceiling absorption.
    That's all best practice low hanging fruit ... but you need to measure to truly determine what's actually going on.
    Measuring is quite easy, OmniMic from Dayton, is silly easy (within a couple minutes upon opening, you're measuring).
    REW is state of the art free software, add $100 mic and you're off... w/massive group of helpful enthusiasts awaiting your questions.
    I dig that room... unsure of amps and signal path... couldn't determine what was what.
    Bottom line;
    Employ as much bass trapping as possible, face the trapping with diffusion as needed.
