If you have plans to play Medic, I'd also recommend turning on the setting where teammates autocall medic at certain percentage. That setting name is misleading because it doesn't make your teammates autocall medic, but it just plays a sound and gives you a directional arrow on your hud pointing to anyone who is damaged beyond the given threshold, effectively letting you track your teammates positions and where fights are happening a lot easier. I usually set it to a high value so I can preemptively get to someone before they're critically injured.
one more launch option: -vulkan performance gain varies from gpu to gpu with newer ones being affected the most (especially non-nvidia) It also may make your frames more stable and less stuttery (tested on 3070-ti)
I got a newer gaming laptop that has AMD Ryzen 5 8645HS with Radeon 760m graphics and RTX 4050 graphics card with 8 GB DDR5 ram with a 60 hz to 144 hz screen, which preset would you generally recommend?
What a shame!!! 2K hours in the game and it’s so superficial to talk about setting up the game. All you need to do to optimize the game is set the settings through the console and nothing more. Masterconfig and other files in the Custom folder only increase the time it takes to load levels and play. Especially noticeable on HDD.
it’s really hard to expect a 12 year old to load up the console and use 60 commands to alter interp and graphics settings, kids these days grew up with GUI
@@done_for The problem with TF2 is that there are many limits set in the game engine, which is why performance drops significantly even on the Wave 666 map, where there are many projectiles and spawning bots... To remove them, you just need to study each parameter to achieve the best performance...
bruh its tf2, any pc with any graphics card can run ultra. yes if you got a 2008 shitbox, it wont run well so go low.... but any shitbox from 2010 onward can easily do ultra.
its about the game playing like a modern pvp game and not like a game that was made in 2008. Not so much about peoples machines not being able to run the game well

Should I try running the game with the -vulkan setting on windows or is that just better performance on linux? I've got an rtx 4050 btw
vulkan breaks the obs recording for me on windows, but you can try benchmarking vulkan vs directx yourself, I don't know much about linux gaming

his settings are from older videos, so they are outdated, and mastercomfig includes network stuff too, so only downloading mastercomfig is enough
