  • Caitlin Cooper is joined by Samson Folk to discuss the standout play of Andrew Nembhard at starting point guard, as well as the latest late-game miscues. Plus, thoughts on defending the pick-and-pop, feckful defense, and the quirks of being a righty who plays basketball left handed and a lefty who plays basketball right handed. Enjoy!

    I don't remember who said it on a previous podcast but Nembhard really could be plugged into the guard position on any championship squad. He has just been so impressive during the playoffs. I feel he has been shooting the 3pt ball better too. Hope he can be a part of the Pacers future!

    We should have so much to be excited about for the future of this roster. The youth, the skill and the upside to a handful of these young players is one of the most promising in the association. Would really love to hear other's thoughts on this. THANKS CAITLIN AND SAMSON

    Caitlin, I can't understand how the Pacers did not hire you already. You have such deep analisys on the players and the game and I am pretty sure they need your inputs. If the Pacers already have better and more basketball savant staff, they must be Basketball genious. Listening to you two talk is a great lesson every time. Thank you!

    The silver lining is really that Nembhard is a starting caliber guard.

    Nembhard has shown me something in this playoff run. Really excited about him going forward. These videos have been great. It has been a special postseason run. If you two could do one Pacers video per week next season, that would be cool.

      his bone-headed plays have cost them dearly down the stretch, game 1, game 3. Or was the blame to go to Carlisle?

      @@dabneyoffermein595 he was the only Pacer who scored in the.last two minutes of game one. And yes Carlisle should have called timeout to advance the ball. He said so in the postgame press conference.

      Channel 13 news made it sound pretty improbable that Haliburton plays. If we can pull off the win tonight, will he play in game 5? and can we win game 5 with HALI at about 80%?

    I've been loving the Andrew-Pascal chemistry throughout these playoffs. Trust and feel developing in a big way. Still have to figure out how (not) to most effectively use Pascal late in games as a whole.

    Enjoyed your banter. I’m sure a lot of us took this game seriously despite never getting to a professional level. I understand it can feel a little awkward sharing that stuff but figured I’d let you know I found it relatable and enjoyable

    Nembhard was great for the most part . I thought he tried to do do much in the 4Q. Pascal should have handle the ball more which would have allowed for him to get the doubles & get easy baskets. Also the lack of communication on defense was also a factor . Look at the past Tatum made to Al which I thought was where Pacers lost the game. It was 101-96 w 1:19 left to play 3 players ( Pascal, Nesmith & Myles) guarding Tatum on the rim. None of them say hey go to the 3 pt line. Pascal was on the other side to help, Nesmith & Myles on the Al side. Myles should have run out & at least get a contest. Al had made 6 3's prior to that. All self-inflicted wounds. Pacers should at minimum win 1 gm. Last night should have been that gm b/c they had the lead from the 2 Q until 38.2 s left in the 4Q. I am not a Pacer fan & I felt sad last night.

      Given that he faded back to the arc and that Nembhard was locking eyes with Nesmith, I don’t think he was the main option. They were looking for the ball-side corner.

  • @mollyweir9350
    @mollyweir9350 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You are right Caitlin. TJ should have been in the dunker b/c Pascal could have give a dump off to TJ. Although it is 4.7s left I now see what you are saying maybe he could have Nesmith at the corner 3 but Nesmith as been so abysmal with his 3pt shot. The initial reaction causing almost causing a turn over leaving little time on the shot clock.

    I have questions for both of you - If you had opportunity to build roster in today NBA how would you build Pacers roster for season 2024-2025 having all players of current roster - who would add and replace?

    One thing is for sure. One team won and the other team lost. Also for those who may have missed something. Game 4 is a must win, or the team down 3.. Well they lose and go home.

    This is the problem I have with Nesmith I find he try to do much when he has the ball & his decision making are often bad. I saw him in the 3Q along with Toppin drove to the paint & 3 Celtics players coverage & they took the shots & got block resulting in turn overs.

  • @mollyweir9350
    @mollyweir9350 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Myles has a lot of telegraphic plays resulting in unnecessary turn overs in this game. He fails to see Pascal with advantage in the post & pass the ball to other guys who made terrible decisions.

  • @kevinnolan3418
    @kevinnolan3418 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Toppin sucked on offense. I don’t know if he should have finished. I say no. he didn’t look confident. He also defended Tatum better than anyone on the team that game.
    Also TJ doesn’t provide spacing but Nemhard threw a bad pass and being “intentional” (or predictable) witb PS and AN has not worked down the stretch regardless of whose spacing on the wing
    The team scored 42 points in the second half. They made 5 threes. They only attempted 22. They got nothing in transition. The lived off post ups and Nemhard’s self creation. It almost worked but it’s not a surprising it stalled.

      @@caitlincooper2125I saw Tatum with the ball a lot regardless. When Obi was in the game he was in the paint less, his defender was bt him and basket a lot more. NeSmith looked like he was losing a race to the basket most of the time Tatum put it in the floor

    As far as what we can control, if we are up 8 with like 2 minutes we must run them off 3 point line. Nembhard gonna be better than FVV!!!!

    I think the safest thing to note here is. How big of 🐈's the Celtics are. For almost losing multiple game's to a Pacers team who's not only young, but missing key player's. We should destroy the Celtics plenty next season. If we make the right choices in FA/Draft. We will be back and better than ever!!! Go Pacers!!!! Wolves winning this one easy.

    One idea: Pacers now have beaucoup talent at point. With Nembhard and McConnell now proven effective in pressure situations, and Indy needing to preserve payroll to afford Siakam, why not Haliburton to Spurs for a couple nice role players and picks? Then we can keep Pop, as they will have nerd out NBA historical tape seshes on the daily.
