keep in mind that some state DNR regulations require inspection for invasive species before you put them into inland lakes. An acid wash may be required.
Lots of good boats there if you know what you're looking at. Good chance you won't find too many with keys in them, especially if they were at docked when they were damaged. That's more common with the larger cabin cruisers with locking cabins and doors. Good content!
If can't change a key switch you definitely shouldn't own a boat.

I know you are trying to avoid boats that are too big... but I'd be most interested in seeing you get one that has an "indoors"... or cabin of some kind. I've seen a few like... mini cabin cruisers. Not much space, but super cool. My grandfather had a 16-ft runabout and eventually traded up to a 20 ft pontoon... but his next door neighbor at the beach house had one of these mini cabin crusers... about 20 feet... tiny kitchen eating/sleeping area and a small closet where they had a compost toilet for emergencies. Super small... but super cool.

Those "radar" or "sonar" things are actually chart plotters. Standard stuff on these boats.

I believe the center console with the 200 is a 22 ft, most 24 fts have either a 250-300 hp
If you two could put the Vegas back together I’m sure you two could fix the yacht even faster.
Most of them look like they would need a fair bit of work to get them running again. Of course, depends on the purchase price.

I work on boat I buy and sell them sometimes for extra money too i bided on so many of them I’m talking like 30 I didn’t get not one . I placed bids on what it would cost as a hall of the year and motor .
You should never start a boat engine that is not being supplied with water. You will immediately destroy the impeller that draws cooling water for the engine. Most of these boats were written off by insurance companies. Unless you really know what you are looking at, save yourself a lot of trouble and don't buy a damaged boat. Often a boat can look perfectly intact but was sunk by a storm or something. The engines, fuel tanks and electronics are all suffering from water intrusion. Unless you can get it really cheap and factor in doing everything yourself, walk away. Often boats that sank are salvageable if they worked on quickly but if they have been sitting ashore for any length of time, they probably no longer are.

most boats have battery shutofff switches so if you turn key and say battery dead you possibly wrong

Majority of them boats are scrap, can't tell by checking oil, many people suck out salt water oil and change with new oil

Can "salvage" boats be fixed and retitled as "rebuilt" like a car can? I assume if they can, they'd lose about half their value, like a car.
They losses half there value the day you put it 8n the water,these are penny's on the thousand dollar.

There quite a few yachts that can gain $500,000 in value as soon as you take possesion of it because waiting lists are *years* long and people have even paid millions more for a used boat, because they don't want to wait. A new $1.3 million Boston Whaler 420 outrage sells for around $1.7 million and certain "Lifeproof" boats are carrying a $1 million premium on 1 and 2 year old *used* yachts.
Boats that are salvaged don’t have salvaged titles the only way to find out is to deal with the same insurance company that totaled it or the same finance company I haul boats for a living and have a few clients and that is what they do is buy them and fix them and send them overseas or sell them here in the states

You make money buy buying something that is cheap and fixing it, you don't buy something that is clean and not broken.
No boats please! Hi risk, low potential for payoff unless you get very cheap. Cars, trucks, RV's is what you're set-up for and best for content in my view. Many retirees looking for live in RV's.
