  • The GT-RS is a driving simulation cockpit that jumps out between the competition in the 4080 profile cockpit segment with its colors, form and very attractive price. It got me intrigued so I had to buy it.

    I just ordered the GT-RS based on your review.
    The rig looks really customizable and has a very decent pricing. With a seat and a lot of accessories, like shifter, keyboard and mouse brackets it was priced like other Rig+Seat combos.
    Thank god I saw your coupon code in the comments. I was already in the checkout process, when I saw it.
    I am very excited to finally graduate from a wheelstand.

      They are all a bit in the same price range indeed. The GTRS is at this moment the most optimized rig you can get. Very efficient company, SimXPro. Enjoy the build and drive friend. 💙

    Placed my order from simxpro 2 days ago, it was this or the x80 and i chose the x80 coz it looked stronger, also the pedaltray on the gt rs didn't inspire much strength compared to the normal one on the x80

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource

      I understand your reasoning but I can assure you the GT-RS is absolutely solid too despite its looks . The pedal tray floating upwards was also a concern of mine but it holds particularly Well. I can stand on the front of it and lift the entire rig without it moving. That being said, the X80 will serve you Well too and I believe it does have some more clearance when it comes to the height of the steering wheel.

    i know this is unrelated to the vid but do you know any stand that is some what compact/foldable(this isnt required) and strong enough for an 8 nm wheel? i just upgraded recently and now my stand wants to flip over and bend in half. A lot of the options i see are out of stock constantly.

      The Next Level Racing wheelstand 2.0 left a good impression with me. Nice and heavy, stable and foldable. It should be suitable for your 8Nm wheelbase. Downside is that it is also one of the more expensive options. Check out your regional second hand market.

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource

      Muhahahaha viva vakantiegeld idd!!! 😎 unfortunately its just a structural problem with these types of rigs and the configuration of them. The best way to avoid it is to just make sure everything is not tightened when you do the config and not be lazy (guilty) of thinking you can manage the change in configuration while everything is tight. In theory anodized frames should be better, but from my experience I prefer a thick coat like the one of SimXpro and Simlab. The anodizing is a very thin layer on the frame and scratches will show more easy.

  • @MrKlawUK

    very much appreciate the detailed measurements. Short wheel uprights is good for me! - do you have measurements for the overall length? The website says 125cm but I assume thats the base only, and not inculkding the extended pedal deck length? Also, no issues with the weight of the pedal deck when in use pivoting off one end? no flex under load?

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource

      The 125cm is pretty accurate. It all depends of course on how your pedals are angled. I am at 130cm at the tip of the pedal holder (they are positioned completely flat) and have an overhead of about 5 cm of the chair over the frame in the back. No, the pedal deck holds Well BUT you need to take some time to find good positions to attach them. The gaps for the bolts have a bit of manouver room but once you have them set up good and use the max of the attachment points, they are solid.

    Hi @SimulatedDrivingResource
    I’m asking this here, since SimXPro did not replied! Regarding the GT-RS cockpit the seat does not need to have the seat sliders, mounting it in a fixed position according to the perpendical seat bars, as the pedal tray can move forward/backward - up/down am I correct!?
    Last question is regarding the prices shown on the website, as one price appears on the main page and another different one when entering the item page!? This happens with every item!
    Thanks a lot for your attention and many thanks for the excellent review on this cockpit.

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource

      Hello friend. As you pointed out, there is no need for a seat with seat sliders. The configurability of the vertical bars and the pedalbase holder itself makes it that you can set it up precise enough. I like to add seat-sliders just for the comfort of getting in and out and because I use a multitude of hardware and don't want to start fidgetting with the pedalbase all the time. The prices are a bit "weird" with their "lowest price in x days" and stuff but this is marketing. Normally, if you add the SimXpro GT-RS, the price should be 399€. Don't forget to add the 6%-SDR2024 voucher and you'll get an extra 6% off the entire purchase.

    • @OsvaldoBrites

      @@SimulatedDrivingResource thanks for the quick reply. To add the slider one needs to mount the bars horizontally instead of parallel as in the image!?
      Regardjng the price difference - if adding the GT-RS the price is not the 399€ but 405,59€. This happens with all items when adding them to the cart it automatically increases a few €euros!

    • @SimulatedDrivingResource

      They are added in the same position as you would without the sliders on it. Its hard to explain. I have uploaded 2 pictures of how it is set up with me (with seat sliders) on discord since I can't upload pictures here. discord.com/channels/935269059564540025/1254923223108419726/1262350879986683912 . As for the price. I believe it is a tax-thing. If I add the GT-RS, it costs 329.75€ without taxes, the shipment costs 14,17€ and tax on the rig + shipment (21% for Belgium) brings it to a total of 416.15€. I am not sure though but perhaps you can figure it out with this explanation. If I just add the base-price 329.75€ with the tax 72.23€, I come at 401,98€.

      The pedal plate of the gtrs are made out of 2 pieces of 4040 and 1 piece of 4080 profile. This adds alot to the rigidity. It also features a lot of attachment points which is necessary because there are no support beams at the front. The SimLab however does have support beams but with a thinner plate to attach the pedals themselves. Because it are 2 different mechanisms, it is hard to say which is more sturdy. The usage of the extrusion beams to attach the pedals or pedal plate to is stronger than the SimLab pedal plate but the flex of the attachment itself on the SimLab is slightly less.

      @@bartdeclercq-s8s yes on both accounts. I did not test the TREQ one but from what I see, there are 3 things that (in theory) are less. The attachment of the vertical beams to the horizontal ones is with 2 attachment points. The second thing would be the wheelbase holder. I dont like the mechanism they use as it is in general less sturdy than a full plate between the vertical beams. It tends to tilt down too easy. Third, no gearshift holder beam. I do like the pedal base holder though. As for the Sim-Lab, same for the wheelbase holder and attachment points of the vertical beams. There is a gearshift holder beam so thats good. Here they use a more traditional pedal plate. Now, I tested this one and it feels very solid too but I wouldnt place it above the GT-RS
