Wow! Last September on my 2002 E-250, I changed out my wheel bearings while adding new rotors. I searched TH-cam, and found someone with a vid. However…. He DID NOT mention the torque specs! So, after about 10k miles, my wheels were loose. So, thank you good sir for following the manual, and helping me out! ….are you planning on doing any other work to your van? I would love to have some guidance on a couple of issues.
So helpful, I’m going to use the same tightening procedure and the ft-lb you used on my ‘03 E150. Should be about the same I would think. I have the Haynes manual and it lists only one tightening procedure for all the models so I’m guessing it is the same regardless whether it has 8 lugs or 5. I’ve recently replaced the ball joints, tie rods, drag link, axle pivot bushings, sway bar bushings, tightened the steering gear 1/8 turn, installed caster camber bushings, and added a steering stabilizer. I have a little movement at 12 and 6 o’clock on the front wheels and I hope this wheel bearing job fixes it. The E150s have terrible steering, sways a lot on the highway even with all the new parts. Hate driving it, white knuckle driving over 60 mph. Has only 70,000 miles on it and should drive way better than it does with so few miles. Maybe new wheel bearings will help. Everything else in the front end is new. Should have bought an E250 or E350 or a Chevy Express. I didn’t know the E150s were so bad. Thank you!
I noticed at the end you have some steering slop when applying pressure at 9 & 3, is that a normal amount of slop, or did you have to address that later?
Terrific. My E250 Conversion Van loves it.
This is awesome! Having this exact issue and wasn’t sure to start with either the ball joints or bearings! Thank you!!!
A lot of people have these vans we will watch if you post about them

Wonderful video. I love that perfection is the goal.
