  • Noah Kagan built AppSumo into a multi 9 figure company, but not before testing many ideas that failed. Today we dive into his process for rapidly validating winning ideas and making $1,000,000 in a weekend.
    Pick up Million Dollar Weekend at milliondollarw...
    Noah shares how he quickly pre-sold his new book to 1,000 fans, the power of focusing on problems over solutions, why success gets boring, and more counterintuitive startup advice.
    He also tells crazy stories of trying various weekend businesses involving dogs, golf trips, lawncare sales, real estate, and other wacky ideas. Noah demystifies entrepreneurship - you don't need specialty skills, just start testing ideas now.

    Noah's approach to focusing on problems is a game-changer. For entrepreneurs, remember that validating a business idea isn't just about having a great product; it's about ensuring there's a market need. One advanced tactic is to leverage existing online communities related to your niche to gather feedback and pre-sell your idea, which can save you time and resources before going all in.

    "A lot of business is about receiving. You have to feel worthy to receive stuff...." this could not possibly be more spot-on. It's really interesting when a total stranger gets inside your head and pinpoints your exact issue. :) Another great conversation.

    14:00 if you have to convince people to care about the problem, you’ve gone astray
    15:20 once you’ve got something people are interested in,
    21:30 a good product for a serious problem makes for easy sales

    Love it!
    Noah inspired me to re-start my entrepreneur journey back days (1-2 years ago), that is how I found Ryan. That is exactly the topic they raised in the video, it is soooo me - instead of easy experiments all this time, I just dreamed and postponed again and again... Without a start you can't learn and continue. That is why I am happy to learn from Ryan's course and Grind community right now.
    One day I tell them story of my journey in person.

    Everything is presold - hotel rooms, airline flights, concert tickets (I have JPB tickets for end of May that I paid $100 for months ago!). That’s actually revelatory. Thanks guys!!
    p.s. Would watch more shows with Noah working one-on-one for a weekend, that’s a great (inspiring) show!

    So, I'm a small business owner. I provide a local service. I'm moderately successful at it, but I'm just one guy. The goal is to turn the service into an app, I've spent tens of thousands of dollars of my own money to try and get it developed to very very mediocre effect thus far. I've been teaching myself how to program, I've brought on contractors and I've hired employees, I'm not going from zero to one, I've already done that. I'm going from one to ten. What should I do? How do I actually build the organization?

    Warren Buffet started his investment business in the 1950s. It took a long time to compound. Zuckerberg absconded with the idea for Facebook (and had to pay the Winklevoss brothers in a court settlement for that deed). It's hard to understand how setting that latter behavior as a role model is good thing. It's much better to have role models who are fair-minded and compound, slowly, over time, like Buffet and Munger did

    • @RyanDanielMoran
      @RyanDanielMoran  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, a longer timeline is better, and Noah has built App Sumo for 12 years to grow to the place it is now. The point of this show is to show you that it's possible to validate a million dollar business idea in one weekend and get the ball rolling to compound for years and years.
