  • Video shows how to remove old cable from The More Power Puller and install cable to reel. No hook is attached to the cable. Video also shows how to install cable clamps to attach the end hook. WS part #'s used are P620 (20' cable w/RF fully installed) and (2) P13 cable clamps.
For this video we used what we think most people already have. There are easier ways to do this (as mentioned in the video).
To help others, please share your suggestions in the comments section about your personal experience doing this project. Thank you.

I replace the stock slip hooks with chain grab hooks for positive positioning on chain. I have four Wyeth-Scotts and have used them for decades.
BTW a good way to remember how to clamp wire rope is the old rigger saying "never saddle a dead horse".

You should use 3 clamps, and they should not be that close to each other. I'm glad you guys went to the synthetic ropes. =0) By the way, a tip for tightening those clamps... Use a battery powered drill/driver and a socket. The kind of driver that 'hammers'. Go back and forth on the two nuts on a clamp. Run it until it will not turn any more, then swap to the other nut and run until it won't turn any more. You'll be able to go back and forth, with 'the other nut', now being able to be turned a bit more again. Do that until neither nut will turn at all. THAT... will NEVER come loose!

Really nice product. I remember these from construction sites when I was a lot younger. I'm thinking of getting a 3-ton with the synthetic cable for use clearing trees around my property. Any video on replacing the synthetic cable? Is it the same process? Do you sell kits to add the ferrule onto rope purchased elsewhere? Nice to a see a quality US product still going strong.

Hi Gregory. We don't have a video yet on replacing the synthetic rope. However, it is basically like this video: th-cam.com/video/fsFFbPeVRlY/w-d-xo.html On our website you can also look at two written instructions.www.wyeth-scott.com/documents.asp (How To Install P620-H1 - Rivet Installation on to Cable - Attach RF to Reel and Rivet Installation on to Amsteel Blue) Combine these 2 to get what you need. Sorry about not having good instructions on just the synthetic rope!We do not recommend using a rope purchased elsewhere. Only 5/16" Amsteel Blue should be used. Also, there is a particular way we splice the rope together so it is safe.Feel free to call us @ 800.743.4521Thank you for your comments!

Telling the cameraman to "show 'em what the dead line is". Acting like the cameraman is an idiot for not showing them yet. While you have the deadline hidden by your hand. Yeah, there was an idiot involved in that scene all right. And it wasn't the cameraman.

Thank you for your input, selador11. We reviewed the video & now understand how you came to that conclusion. As you can see, we are definitely better at making pullers than we are at making videos! :-) Truth is, there were 3 people involved in making that video. Amy the "cameraman", Jim (blue shirt) handles the puller in the first part of the clip & narrates throughout the clip, John (black shirt) handles the puller in the last part of the clip (starting at 3:27) while Jim continues to narrate. At 5:44, when John has installed the cable clamps, you can see a third hand enter the frame...that's Jim's hand. It is Jim who tells John to show the cable clamps for the camera. Make sense now?
We DO have several new instructional videos coming that are about ready for release. They are produced/edited - lots of editing! Hahaha! - by a videographer, who is better at it than we are, & involve Wyeth-Scott employees.

Ah! Thank you for the clarification. ROFLOL Wow, and I thought things were easy to get mixed up, when typing posts and such. (Hence emoticons to try to sort some of the confusion out.) I'm sorry about the further confusion I probably caused.
