    Hi there, I just want to thank you for making a superior product! I've had mine for 6 or 8 years and mostly use it to pull down trees that are hung up while cutting firewood. I had worn out, bent or broken three or four cheap stamped steel come alongs before I came across your company. Beautifully made, I expect this will probably last generations with of course the possible exception of the cable. I give it five stars!

    Just curious if the 2 ton differs from 3 ton model only with hooks/rope/cable, then why you mark the capacity/durability on the frames? Got mine own recently shipped to EU, Poland - love it!

    I hope these repair are not done by hand. A simple press and jig with a few dies would streamline the entire process down to mere minutes. It would also vastly increase the accuracy of the repair by eliminating human error and deformity.

    i have what looks to be a 3 ton puller with broken cable i see now how to change it but can you give me an approx length of new cable and type of cable that will work best ? we are about to use it for prospecting and we need to move a few rocks around. Thanks!

    • @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884
      @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Thank you for asking! To determine your model of puller, look at the top of your puller frame (where the rope comes through the hole), & you will see either "3 TON" or "2 TON". Cable would probably be the best option if you are using the puller in an abrasive environment such as prospecting. While the synthetic rope is stronger, lighter in weight, & easier to handle, it IS more susceptible to abrasion. As for length, we have several in cable: 20', 30', 35'. The longer the cable, the more difficult it is to handle & respool. You can order the replacement cable with a new hook on it, or just the cable if you have a hook to reuse. All replacement cables/ropes come with the Rivet/Ferrule (part RF) for attaching to the reel. All replacement parts can be found on our website at www.wyeth-scott.com/orders.php Let us know if you have additional questions.

    How would you replace the springs on one that's what mine needs and I don't know how to do it and I don't want to mess it up I would appreciate it if you would message me back thank you

    • @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884
      @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Jeremy. Thanks for asking about the P11 Spring replacement. There are several steps to the process. To replace the spring, the P14 Pawl (the part the spring wraps around) needs to be removed from the puller. To remove the Pawl, there is a P9 Rivet holding it in place that has to be removed. In addition to the Springs, you'll also want to order a replacement P9 for each spring so you can reassemble the Pawl in your puller. These parts are quite inexpensive! To save time, why don't you email us at sales@wyeth-scott.com OR call us at 740/345-4528. You can also look at our website that lists all the parts (and has a diagram) to get an idea of the parts I just referenced. www.wyeth-scott.com We look forward to hearing from you.

      It sure will, Duane. Take a look at our website to see your options for replacing/ordering that cable. Cables also come in 20' & 35' lengths for a 2-ton puller. Go to www.wyeth-scott.com Depending on which model you have, you might consider making the switch to the synthetic rope as a replacement. It is stronger & MUCH easier to manage than cable.

Please contact us at 740/345-4528 with any questions OR visit our informative website at www.wyeth-scott.com On the website, you will find information on our company, FAQ, & details for each part when you click on Order Online (in red lettering at the top of the page). I have been using this one I have since 1967 or 1968. I couldn't begin to remember how many times and various situations it's solved for me. A couple weeks ago I used it to lift my very heavy big old Lincoln idealarc welder. A week before it lowered a milling machine safely down a steep ramp. Its original purpose was to provide a Jeep in the mud retrieval service. over the years I have developed a great fondness for this tool. It still has the original cable, I have always oiled the cable, and although occasionally it has gotten a little wet it has never rusted. I hope I can swing for a new cable soon , it is somewhat frazzled and dangerous to hands.

      Hi, David. We really enjoy hearing stories of how much our More Power Puller is appreciated. It sounds like it has served you well over the years. You have certainly taken great care of it. When you decide it is time to replace that prickly old cable, you might consider one of the new synthetic ropes. They are stronger than the steel cables, lighter in weight, easier to reel up, & MUCH nicer on the hands! Give us a call when the time comes & we'll review your model information with you if you are considering the switch to the synthetic rope. Thanks again!

    You should use 3 clamps, and they should not be that close to each other. I'm glad you guys went to the synthetic ropes. =0) By the way, a tip for tightening those clamps... Use a battery powered drill/driver and a socket. The kind of driver that 'hammers'. Go back and forth on the two nuts on a clamp. Run it until it will not turn any more, then swap to the other nut and run until it won't turn any more. You'll be able to go back and forth, with 'the other nut', now being able to be turned a bit more again. Do that until neither nut will turn at all. THAT... will NEVER come loose!

    Telling the cameraman to "show 'em what the dead line is". Acting like the cameraman is an idiot for not showing them yet. While you have the deadline hidden by your hand. Yeah, there was an idiot involved in that scene all right. And it wasn't the cameraman.

    • @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884
      @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your input, selador11. We reviewed the video & now understand how you came to that conclusion. As you can see, we are definitely better at making pullers than we are at making videos! :-) Truth is, there were 3 people involved in making that video. Amy the "cameraman", Jim (blue shirt) handles the puller in the first part of the clip & narrates throughout the clip, John (black shirt) handles the puller in the last part of the clip (starting at 3:27) while Jim continues to narrate. At 5:44, when John has installed the cable clamps, you can see a third hand enter the frame...that's Jim's hand. It is Jim who tells John to show the cable clamps for the camera. Make sense now? We DO have several new instructional videos coming that are about ready for release. They are produced/edited - lots of editing! Hahaha! - by a videographer, who is better at it than we are, & involve Wyeth-Scott employees.

      Thank you for commenting, Marc. We often see very old pullers that have been passed down from one generation to the next. There ARE more videos coming, but they are not focused on production. They are instructional videos produced in our shop that show how to set your puller up for first time use, how to grease your puller, how to tell if you have an authentic More Power Puller, etc.

    I have one of these pullers I bought used 40 years ago and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't 4o years old when I bought it. Everything on it that moves is worn out. The hook is about ready to pull through the frame. I wouldn't hesitate to weld it up if it wasn't made from cast iron.

      Hi, Mark. It sounds like your puller has served you well over the last 40 years. If you think it might be worth repairing, we have all the parts to do it. If you call or email & let us know what parts you need, we can give you a quote on the parts for the repair. 800/743-4521 You can do the repair yourself or we'll do it for you. We are working on producing a few more how-to-properly-use/how-to repair videos. Please keep safety in mind when using a puller that is as worn as yours. Thank you for commenting.

    is 1993 the actual year of manufacture or the model type? I have had one from back in the 70s...as a teen..recently bought 3 more locally for around $30 each...can't have too many More Power Pullers !

    • @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884
      @thewyeth-scottcompanymanuf2884 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for asking, windage. And congratulations on finding 3 more at that price! We agree...you can't have too many More Power Pullers. You probably already know that we have a full line of replacement parts, even for the very oldest models, if you need to make repairs. The model number is not shown on the puller itself, but is determined by the tonnage + the cable length (you would have to measure the cable/rope). The tonnage is shown in raised letters/numbers on the top of the frame, where the cable/rope passes through. Models manufactured in the last 15 years will be 2 TON or 3 TON. By using this, you might determine that you have a Model 2-30 (two-ton with 30 feet of cable), Model 3-20 (3-ton with 20 feet of cable), etc. The location of the date of manufacture depends on the year of puller. The way the date is displayed has changed over the years. If you take a look at our website, under FAQ, near the bottom of the list, you will find How old is my puller? www.wyeth-scott.com/faq.php Starting in 1985, the frame hooks & cable end hooks were stamped with the part number & date. Models manufactured over the last 17 years (since 2001) have the month/year of manufacture stamped into the two rivets that attach the yoke to the frame. The example given, 0205, would be a manufacture date of February 2005. If you are seeing a number 93 on the yoke rivets or on the hooks, then yours was manufactured that year. If you have any other questions, just ask us! We do appreciate your loyalty to our product.

    I replace the stock slip hooks with chain grab hooks for positive positioning on chain. I have four Wyeth-Scotts and have used them for decades. BTW a good way to remember how to clamp wire rope is the old rigger saying "never saddle a dead horse".

  • @nederlander9321

    I have two of these, a 1993 2 ton cable and a newer 2015 3 ton AmSteel synthetic rope. The older 2 ton has saved me hours of shovel work pulling out large rhododendron shrub stumps and still works like new. The 3 ton I carry in my off road vehicle. With additional extension lines it makes for a great portable recovery hand winch. Yes they cost much more than the China made hardware store pullers but if you want a far superior quality product that will last years......this is it. Plus, should you ever need it, full parts support is available from the USA factory.

      Hi Gregory. We don't have a video yet on replacing the synthetic rope. However, it is basically like this video: th-cam.com/video/fsFFbPeVRlY/w-d-xo.html On our website you can also look at two written instructions.www.wyeth-scott.com/documents.asp (How To Install P620-H1 - Rivet Installation on to Cable - Attach RF to Reel and Rivet Installation on to Amsteel Blue) Combine these 2 to get what you need. Sorry about not having good instructions on just the synthetic rope!We do not recommend using a rope purchased elsewhere. Only 5/16" Amsteel Blue should be used. Also, there is a particular way we splice the rope together so it is safe.Feel free to call us @ 800.743.4521Thank you for your comments!
