I tried this recipe of rasam and tur dal chutney.. I served it with hot steamed rice.. My stomach feels so good after the meal.. It was super delicious and very nourishing.. I am going to make this rasam more often this summer. Due to health reasons I have to avoid cooked tomatoes and green chillies.. So both these dishes are a great blessing.. Thank you very much Geeta Aunty

I loved this combination. Actually parappu thogayal recipe is almost dhideer/Goddu saaru of karnataka. Podalunga is new to me. But the pulichaaru is my favorite. Like chathurmasya vratha saaru! I already made two from your menu. Going to make Podalunga soon. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent videos Mrs.Gita! You are a born teacher. One small tip...when you scrape the sides or empty the contents of your mixie jar, using a silicone spatula is very efficient in getting every last drop out. The same is true when using the table top grinder.

    Namaste mam and sir.
If only the comp., has a provision to grab it from the screen!!!!!!
Am dying to eat this delicious lunch after a dose of masalas!
Amidst the distinguished delicacies of sambhar, koottu, paruppu rasam, this simple, samathu
"jeera rasam" stands out and is divine and mam, you gave it a "royal touch" by the "generous ghee" thalippu. Oh felt like drinking the rasam suda suda with its ghee flavour.
Mam, you bring such good life to those materials (masalas, dhals, rice, veg, water)
which were lying still till then, with your expertise touch!
Poricha kozhambu kodhikaracha could feel its aroma here.
    the final presentation, WOW!!
    Ready to eat, nono, gobble!!
My hai to the cute little thair handi.

PK White pumpkin+yam+raw plantain; toor dhal and for paste jeera omitted. JR and PT do not go with PK; they are for night meals! Paruppu Rasam (with dhal water) and Pachadi with pickled salty small mangoes/goose berries are with PK invariably, esp. on Amavasya Days. No hing added in PK or JR. Tamarind in ball shape put in the water itself to boil and water reduced to half and jeera alone with toor dal paste added with reqd. water till frothy and season next. For PT chena dal used with coconut. (I am not in any way belittling your kitchen!) Bye now!

I agree that few combo Menus were invented , tried n tested by our ancestors and eventually been passed on to us.
But Change in anything is inevitable.
Nowadays, people have less physical labour .Hence too much of spices n fat content are skipped.
Since 95 percent are doing desk based jobs ( hovering over PCS OR LAPTOPS) certain veggies have taken their turns for a weekend.
Hence every family modifies the recipes according to the likes of the family members.
