In this most recent episode of The Average Joes Fishing Show, Brendan and Leanne headed out in search of open water and Brook Trout. With an earlier than normal spring this year, the two were able to locate a small back lake that was ice free. In Average Joes fashion, Brendan explains his most simple and effective shore fishing tactics to help you catch Brook Trout from the banks of your local trout waterways. "THE WAYNE RIG" is by far the most effective style of fishing used by The Average Joes when targeting trout from the shore. It has been used by Brendan's family for decades and continues to produce unmatched success year after year. There are no expensive methods involved, just a hook, sinker and bobber with some live bait.
We recorded this video on April 1st, 2024. That means that for the next month or so, the trout will be cruising the shorelines of these lakes in search of food. Get out as soon as you can to your favourite trout waters and give The Wayne Rig a try, and leave a comment letting us know if you found success with it.

For those who are wondering (you’re probably not) I fell in the lake which is why there was an outfit change. 😞 Other than that and the hail it was a lot of fun!

Thinking about giving The Wayne Rig a go. Packing live bait can be a pain in the ass for a canoe/camping trip. I’m thinking maybe a chunk of salami maybe, what do you think? I know bass like salami lol

  • @wesleyminnie1535

What are the power and action on the rods you were using?

  • @toddk1461

You state this is good for spring and fall, Is there a reason it does not work well for Summer or Winter?

  • @TheBowhunterinNB

Set and forGET….. bait and wait ….. our spring fishing is the same style in my neck of the woods

  • @davidwalesby2426

i would be worried the fish will feel the line an spit out the hook as well if it gets hooked wouldn't the hook slide to the end and mess the line up making it weaker where the hook slides?
