  • Algonquin Park Brook Trout Fishing with an Expert - Trout Fishing Tips
    In this latest episode of The Average Joes Fishing Show, Brendan headed out with a new friend, Mr. Darren Smith, to an Algonquin lake in search of Brookies. Darren is well known around the Algonquin fishing community for his strong trout fishing abilities, and catches many hundreds of Brookies each season. Darren gives a great example of proper handling techniques for trout fishing from a canoe, as well as some other gear pointers.

    As someone new to fishing for Brook Trout, I was hoping to hear something - anything - pertaining to lure choices and methods.

    Any tips for Lake Trout fishing, just got back from a trip at David Lake and Ralph Bice in Algonquin, didn't have any luck trolling with a big spoon.

      Go deep, fish evenings and stay about 35-50ft. If you have a fish finder it’ll make lakers a lot easier!

      Algonquin is a magical place, never to old to go!! Just may take more time to get to certain areas, or study your route and pick an area with more paddling vs portaging!

    Guys had a blast.
    I’m planning an ice out trip. Any tips to selecting lakes that will produce like this one? I don’t mind slogging some big portages to get into the deep bush.

      We have a fairly detailed video discussing how to find Algonquin Brookies from a couple years back, if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a good place to start! We did a rundown of pretty much everything we do to pick spots! Lots of research is key, and studying maps! The deeper you go, they more plentiful they get generally speaking!

      Dead minnows are allowed and used all the time by us, he was just pointing out that the fish had another bait in its mouth and was feeding

    The Expert didn’t tell us the name of the lake or what lure he was using?

    • @TheAverageJoesFishingShow
      @TheAverageJoesFishingShow  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He was catching them on a 3/8oz Perch Pattern Weaver Grabber. As for the lake, that’s not public information. We don’t share lake names inside or outside of the park. But especially inside. Native Brook Trout populations can easily be ruined from a spot being blown up on the internet, so we respect the fishery by keeping it quiet.
