matthe ai it was a bit more complicated than that. A former dark lord of the sith thought the key to power was learning all aspects of the force but eventually went crazy and thought destroying sith holocrons was the key to power. At least that’s what I heard in another video

"The Sith have a tendency to rise again and again from the ranks of the Jedi order" (Darth Krayt, 137 ABY)
I mean, 1st Great Schism, the Legions of Lettow, almost destroyed the Order
2nd Great Schism, Hundred-Year Darkness, led to the birth of the First Sith Empire, to Revan/Malak's Empire, and Vitiate's Reformed Sith Empire.
Also led to Onderon's Sith Kings, Freedon Nadd, Exar Kun and so on ...
4th Great Schism, Darth Ruin and the New Sith Wars, led to the Brotherhood of Darkness, then to Darth Bane.
The clone Wars-era Jedi ? The Jedi were destroyed by one of their own, and also eventually produced Darth Krayt
The new Jedis ? Darth Caedus ...
One might easily think that without the Jedi, none of these galactic-level threats would have existed ...

The Sith philosophy sought Freedom, while the jedi strictly enforced rules. And thus the jedi always shunned some of their members, which always resulted in them becoming sith or dark jedi.

A thing to note is that the time when Alchemy was created was when there were no Sith / Dark Jedi or Jedi, there were the Je'daii, the Force users who meditated on the balance on both the Light and Dark, using both sides. And that the division between them occurred not just because of Alchemy, but because many of the dedicated Light Side users began to believe it wrong to use the Dark Side at all, which the Dark Side users were fine with both sides, and the corruption that Alchemy did cause was the final catalyst for the destruction of the Je'daii and the split into Jedi and Dark Jedi. Unless Wookiepedia is very wrong and has been wrong for years now.

I see a lot of comments regarding the notion that good and evil are subjective, that Force Alchemy used for good reasons can still be called good, etc. Thinking of it as "evil" is a little simplistic, and honestly, unnecessary. Instead, it should be recognized not as evil but as corrupting and corrosive. The video mentions that those who are frequently in contact with objects that are imbued with Force Alchemy are often susceptible to corruption, impaired judgment, increasing anger, etc because it takes Dark Side energy for the Alchemy to take place. It's not an evil ability, just a corrupt one.

There are abilities to imbue items with the Force, for weaponry. But it's usually temporary use or at least neutral by nature. It strengthens them and makes them more durable but nothing to the extent of dark side Sith Alchemy.

    • @TheNejD
      @TheNejD 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

The dark side is about strength and domination, if you want to make a weapon then the dark side is what you would use, the light is more about protection and somewhat pacifism imbuing a weapon with the light side is inherently contradictory there were cases of people imbuing things like charms with the light to protect the bearer. The problem is that the jedi largely see the dark side as people controlling the force as compared to them only working as the force wills but one of these has to be wrong if the sith corrupt the force then so do the jedi, they bend reality to their will as much as the sith who would also be set on paths because it is the will of the force. There needed to be a balance instead of their only being dark side artifacts there should have been a balance the jedis unwillingness to cooperate and accept the dark side did nothing but drive those who were already that way inclined fully to the darkside because there had to be a balance.

Alchemy: the science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. If one wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be given. This is the law of equivalent exchange; the basis of all alchemy. In accordance to this law, there is a taboo among alchemists. Human transmutation is strictly forbidden. For what could equal the value of a human soul?

    • @getgoing581
      @getgoing581 7 ปีที่แล้ว

generalnawaki I truthfully believe that alchemy should not be used until the dark side is either forced out of that galaxy or completely destroyed because it's one of the abilities that's been tainted by the dark side and warped so much that every time it gets used the dark side get's stronger whether the ability is used with the best intentions or for evil. I'm trying my hardest to convince myself that there could be grey Jedi out there but the thing that make's me unsure is the fact that when someone uses one side it weakens the other. It's one of the main reasons that Vader could never heal his lungs for more than a few minutes. He would meditate in his chamber and heal them but would feel the joy of being able to breathe on his own. That true happiness would strengthen that last bit of light left in him and break his concentration and his lungs would fail again. Also because of that small bit of light inside of him he was not able to feed upon the pain and suffering of others. Its the same with his grandson. Kylo ren who actually weakened himself when he killed his father because of the light within him. The two sides just don't mix. Or mabye I just don't understand it. It would be interesting to see and may even come with new abilities.

I was actually taken a little aback seeing that the initial part was news to me. I honestly, from what I read, always believed that it had been the pure Sith to create Force Alchemy, and that it had been the exiled Jedi that had turned it into an instrument of the Dark Side.
Also the Jedi Civil War... I was under the impression that it had been caused by the Jedi youngest members, desiring to be taught faster and to have more knowledge available to them. Seeing that there was knowledge inside the Order that could only be viewed only once one achieved the rank of Master. And sometimes even newly appointed masters weren't given access to that knowledge.
I actually found this video to be interesting but kinda contradicting. Mainly because of the Book Of The Jedi. When we reach the part about the levels of channeling and using the Force, we see that the Jedi of even Yoda's time, had a three degree, level of mastery and use of the Force.
Those degrees being: Sense, Control and Alter. In this order.
Through Sense a potential Jedi, learned to feel and control the Force inside of oneself.
Through Control a potential Jedi, learned to feel and control the Force outside of oneself.
And then there was Alter. And although specified in the Book Of The Jedi, truth was that few were the cases of Jedi that actually had a deep knowledge and refined usage of it. Alter was referred to as the ability of a Jedi to use the Force to alter things. Regardless of what was being altered. In many ways the way it's usage was described, made it seem to be something more easy to do than Sith Alchemy.
For it centered around one purpose. To use intense mental focus to visualize and then manifest what was being visualized. And of course it could basically be used, to give in theory, almost a unlimited amount of abilities. That ranged mostly between shaping the Force into many forms or use the Force to imbue objects (like Holocrons) with certain properties.

Great video!! Just want to point one thing out, the alchemy was created long before the Jedi and sith. The ancient Je'daii hsd created it, but many were against it. It (Je'daii alchemy of the flesh) could be used to do anything from healing deadly wounds to completely shielding a being from the Force.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Force alchemy was something discovered during experimentation with the force. Just as fire was discovered when experimenting with sticks. Force alchemy was banned because it went against Jedi philosophy. Its just another skill to be utilized, just like fire, or weapons. It was foolish of the Jedi to dismiss it, if they focus enough they could develop a way to make light side force constructs. Power it with positive emotion. Emotion and intent drive the force.

    Excellent video!!! :D
I absolutely LOVE this Sith Alchemy concept, and the various capabilities of it explored in this video - originally imbuing inanimate objects with power by pouring the Dark Side into them, causing them to physically change, become invulnerable and gain Force abilities; these imbued objects becoming sentient but aligned only with the Dark Side of the Force; Force Alchemy's role in the Dark Jedi's fall, they joining with the Sith after their banishment to perfect it; the Sith using it to physically alter living creatures into monstrous mutations at their command, and even alter sapient beings into bloodthirsty monsters; the Sith King using it to reanimate the dead as powerful tools; and lastly Palpatine using it to hide his disfigured appearance before 'Revenge of the Sith.' XD I also love the historical facts like: the Force Alchemy's role in the Dark Jedi's fall; they joining the Sith after their banishment, perfecting it; the one Sith Lord who became proficient with it and demanded three sacrifices; Palpatine imbuing the Shadow fighters that had organic brains with Sith Alchemy, they being terrifyingly invincible; and Palpatine writing a book on the discoveries of Sith Alchemy. XD I love the last one. X)
I also love the irony in Sith Alchemy's Jedi origins, how much it brings out the dark roots under the Jedi's good exterior that you've covered in previous videos and called interesting; and how it and Juyo support the fallen-angel moral that good professor Van Helsing points out in Bram Stoker's 'Dracula:' that the earliest dark things have their roots in the light, falling from it.
Overall, really excellent video that's made me really interested in this concept!! XD

I doubt telekenesis would be considered particularly "natural" or force lightning "unnatural". Not only that, but twisting something to suit a need also describes pretty much every single thing ever made by anyone ever, including any force ability. These aren't really unnatural either. If it exists, it is a part of nature, regardless of whether it's manufactured or not.
This seems like a pretty facile account of how the force works. I would say light and dark side are closer to corruption/destruction versus tranquility/order, or something along those lines. Maybe even something more basic than that, change versus stasis for example.

kenshin491 Well in the game dark side edition in the first one he beats Luke in a lightsaber duel, and In the second game as a clone of himself, he kills Han and a Jedi Leia and blocks a Atst if that's what it's called while force gripping Chewbacca into a laser blast killing him, with a laser blast to the chest, so yes he would be very powerful possibly more powerful than the chosen one. He defeated the original machine Darth Vader and even Luke altogether as a apprentice not taught by Yoda yet with Anakin's lightsaber on Hoth, but his power would have been limited by the might of Darth Sidious, after killing Darth Vader in the first game while trying to kill the Emperor, he got hit by his own ship. He even managed to pull the Millennium Falcon back while flying with the force, which was something Darth Vader did not do in a New Hope when he killed Obi wan.

I always got the impression that whatever modifications done to Galen forced him to be loyal but not a true apprentice (snicker). Similar to how Sidious used Maul. Dark side ending: Galen is commanded to find and turn Luke. If Galen was Sidious's true apprentice why not just kill Luke? My bad I could have worded my first question better.

This would suggest that Sith alchemy was used in the creation of Vader 's armour also it would suggest his armour was mildly sentient and instead of dying from lightning that Vader 's armour turned on him for turning to the light , because Vader already showed that he can deflect blasters lightning that was only strong enough to torture would be much weaker compared to a concentrated laser.

Where does the idea that Sidious used Alchemy to disguise himself come from?
I'm not very well read in all things Star Wars, but I clearly remember reading that Palpatine's appearance only changed because Windu's lightsaber reflected the heat from his lightning back at him. Even though he'd been using the Dark Side for years, it didn't change him physically at all. Rather, Palpatine always considered his tame appearance as a sort of mask, or weapon.

An interesting example of Sith Alchemy actually shows up in the first season of Rebels, when Ezra accidentally uses it to create a dark side creature to attack the Grand Inquisitor

It would be so cool If you could make a video about the most dangerous or most powerful dark side abilities. (like force repulse, force storm, force drain, force insanity, thought bomb etc..)
please do it cause it would be awesome learning about all this cool powers.🙂

Snoke's Ring or Vader's mask has Vader's spirit in it. It is theorized that Ajunta Paul's sword corrupted Revan and made him unable to find peace. Maybe Vader is Ajunta Paul and Revan was Kylo.

They should seriously make a movie about the jedi using magic swords, and fighting eachother over the beginning of the sith.

Some of the best known users of the Sith Alchemy are the Nightsisters of Dathomir. They literally created zombies and used their "magiks" to create weapons that could be used against light sabers

if you can use alchemy on objects and it is usually being done through the dark side of the force, could the same be done but through the light side of the force

Actually used this ability in my Episode 0 fan fiction.
Essentially though I found it better that the Precursor to the Sith was a better fit for displaying this as the character who utilizes this has had no real restraint in their exploration of the Force and they are much much more potent in force manipulation.
Though in my interpretation, this ability takes a great strain on any practical user unless they possess a very very potent connection to the Force or have specifically studied and specialized in this kind of usage.
The characters in my two part Ep.0 are also like Demi-Gods compared to the Jedi and Sith we see in the cannon films.
Not so much that they can do anything they want but rather the potential they both wield is near immeasurable.
