Im 35 and this song came out when I was 19 and I have this song on my playlist along with alot of other Breaking Benjamin. I honestly do not know how you can’t like this song. Maybe if you’re die hard country or hip hop but this song hits hard and has great vocals and meaning to it
"A walk down memory lane" is quite right in my case... I worked on the production of this song/album. Wild to hear it again years later with a lot of memories of every part of helping make this song happen. - Thank you so much for your thoughtful & kind review. - I love your work darling... Cheers 💜
Ben’s vocal style is thoroughly unique and mesmerizing. One of the best bands if the last 25 years. I have a complete playlist of this band by themselves! I could listen & have listened to Breaking Benjamin for weeks. I listen in the shower, in bed, in the car, etc. Definitely on my list of all-time favorite bands.
The grave says 'Jane Bryan' she was an actress who started in the 1939 movie "We Are Not Alone" which is the same title as Breaking Benjamins 2004 album, "We Are Not Alone"
With the spooky season coming up, can we finally expect some Ice Nine Kills? Their last two albums are inspired by famous horror movies and the music videos tell a connected story. For a standalone reaction I would recommend "Stabbing in the Dark", which is about Michael Meyers and the Halloween franchise.
So much nostalgia for me with this one. They used to play this when I was in high school late night on the local rock radio station, but never before 10pm, and only on fridays.
Seen them with seether and 3 days grace like 15 years ago best night of my life, my wife and I were dating then and I introduced her to mosh pits lol I gave her credit for stepping out of her "comfort zone" seeing as how Aerosmith was probably the only "rock" concert she'd ever been to. Memories.
BB is so good. There's always these little subtle changes between the chorus, or something the guitars do in the back ground the second time through. There's so much going on you can listen to them endlessly and always find something interesting
I bet you would love “The Bleeding” by Five Finger Death Punch. Its exactly how you said you like (and I agree). The harsh vocals placed only on the key words or phrases. The rest is more actual singing. Its an early song hardly anyone, if anyone has reacted to. Many probably don’t even know it.Its also a relationship song. Keep on killin the reactions ! 👍
Absolutely love Breaking Benjamin, they are so freaking awesome, there's so much passion and emotion behind the music and lyrics that you can feel all of it, very rare in a band
So his girlfriend committed suicide when he was younger, and when he found her diary he read it, and in it she talked about different men and cheating on him. So in an old interview he said something along the lines of "to me she was everything, to her I was nothing more then a few sentences in her diary" . And a few years later he created this song, to help him find closure for not being able to stop her from committing suicide.
Wow, didn’t know that. Ben really had so many bad things going on in his life. He’s doing great now. He has a family and he loves his new band members. Not sure if he’s overcome his fear of flying yet.
Ah wrong the song was born from the singer watching a bunch of Forensic Files series episodes and there was a Episode about a Jane Doe that washed up on shore and was buried with no story.
@@jason42080 "Burnley has said that “The Diary of Jane” is about a toxic relationship he had and that the song is about letting go of someone who has hurt you. It’s a story of someone trying to move on but unable to because they’re still in love." not sure about the suicide part but that's directly from the singer/writer of the song.
You should definitely react to more Breaking Benjamin! 😊 I recommend the songs: I Wish I May Medicate Polyamorous Skin Natural Life Next To Nothing Water Home Phase No Games Sugarcoat Shallow Bay Forever So Cold Simple Design Follow Firefly Forget It Breakdown Breath You Evil Angel Until The End Here We Are Unknown Soldier Fade Away I Will Not Bow Crawl Give Me A Sign Hopeless What Lies Beneath Anthem of the Angels Dear Agony Into The Nothing Without You Torn In Two Blow Me Away
Diary of Jane, I Will Not Bow, Dance With The Devil and So Cold are probably their most well known songs that a casual demographic of people have heard before back then, either on the radio or on MTV, and for good reason too.
Breaking Benjamin is one of my all-time guilty pleasures. Should definitely check out more of their discography. Another one for me is the band Chevelle. Should give them a listen, their songs ‘The Red’, ‘Well Enough Alone’, and ‘The Clincher’ are my top faves.
If you add Send the pain below, Vitamin R (leading us along), comfortable liar, and hats off to the bull to that list you've got yourself a half hour of Chevelle bangers that never get old.
You should definitely do Breaking Benjamin-Ashes of Eden, guaranteed you'd love it. EDIT: Its also has a great music video and Bens vocals are amazing.
I know it's a bit of a shallow compliment, but you have a really nice face to watch. Reactions like this are admittedly a self-affirming kind of fun, but it's always interesting to see somebody else's experience of a familiar song. It's interesting that you intuitively whisper in lieu of growling, because it's almost the same thing just at a lower dynamic and without shaping your mouth to create resonance. If you whisper loudly, you're basically screaming; nobody's death growl is as loud as their ordinary yell.
I think the tombstone says Jane Bryan. Interesting bit of trivia, she was an actress in the 30s and happened to star in a movie titled We Are Not Alone, which also happens to be the title of BB's 2nd album.
That was a very nice reaction. I saw video of a family band named "Missioned Souls" in the Philippines covered "The Diary Of Jane" as well. They are composed of Dad, Mom and 4 Kids, but only the kids performed in this cover and their ages are from 10 to 15 . Their own take of it turmed me into a fan. I assure you won't believe your ears. Hope you can do a reaction.
Breaking benjamin is such an incredible group. Benjamin Burnley has amazing voice. This brings back so much nostalgia 🖤 I also wanted to say I love your reactions and how excited you get about the music & the artist! I wanted to ask you to do reactions to I see stars and Jonny Craig.... (Please!) If you wanted killer voices you should check them out! P. S. Your channel is awesome! 😊🖤
The song is about Jane, the event happened in reality, the girl fell asleep in a bathtub full of water and died. In the video she wakes up at the beginning of the music and is looking for a mirror, by the end when she found a mirror, she did not see her reflection, in many peoples, and their legends, ghosts do not see their reflection. The group dedicated this song to this girl, it is unknown if they knew her.
You look very nice in yellow! Love this song! I forgot how heavy it was. Something about the 2000's bands that set them apart from the grunge movement is how much heavier they were.
Breaking Benjamin is and Alwayz has been in my top 5 All Time Favorite Bandz! Ever since I first saw the video to "polyamorous" video from there first album
All time favorite band, all bias aside they have 0 bad songs.. every time someone reacts to this I have to see the vid, I wish I could hear this for the first time again.
Aah this song reminds me of Step Up 2 : The Streets. That's where i first heard it and was instantly hooked to it. It truly is a pleasant trip down memory lane
Rachel, if you like strategically-placed growling vocals, I recommend you give Seether a listen. To start with, I'd recommend "Remedy", "No Jesus Christ" or "Needles".
8:39 i believe what you are trying to say here is about the vocal tech of lowing the palate, so he can do a high note with a more deep voice.. (i can explain better in portuguese haha)
You eerily resemble a gal i once knew, mannerisms an all. It s weird coupled with this song, i haven t visited this foggy path for a long time. Bagner song though.
This song isn't about love, Once Benjamin watching a TV Show called "Unsolved mysteries" He sees a dead woman with an undefined İD , There was nothing abour her , who was she? What she died for? how she lived? etc.. So benjamin wanted to give her a story and wrote this song for her . For undefined dead womans they use the name "Jane" (For men it is John ).
Ben Burnley does not write bad music. This has been my favorite band since they released their first music. I recommend Ashes of Eden and Red Cold River for some of his newer songs
Saturate is imo the most amazing BB album, polyamorous, skin, water, home, shallow bay, phase, next to nothing, sugarcoat, and Medicate are all so good in that old school unpolished BB kind of way.
You could totally growl. You are right on the edge of it with your voice at times. I think it would be natural to you if you could accept the process of finding it.
Breaking Benjamin always makes me feel some type of way whether it's happy or emotional. That's why they're arguably my favorite band of all time.
Absolutely agree

Ashes of Eden is another one that really highlights the uniqueness of Ben's voice.

Agreed
Oh yes man I agree that's a badass song man.
Please do more of them!!!! They are by far my favorite band. I have a hand tattoo dedicated to them

I second this. Ice Nine Kills is really good and a lot of fun too.
Funeral darangements👌👌

They have a thing for Jane Bryant, a 1930's actress (don't hold me to that time-period). I think it's Bryant as the second name on the gravestone.
