    A lot of people complain this video is too fast but she covers a LOT of information in a clear way. If you miss something, rewatch the section you missed and google whatever you don't understand. Put SOME work into watching this video, she clearly put a lot of work into making it.

      I am very happy with this workshop-in-a-youtube. My D800E hardly ever get used and there's an ocean of features I haven't yet touched since buying it in 2014 so I am glad to have a sensei forever frozen in time to help me grok all of this. Thank you so much Nice Lady Productions

    I've been watching D800 videos for months in advance of a purchase, and I must say that this video has to be one of the best out there on the subject. You touch upon subject rarely covered in other reviews, and do so in a very concise way. Thank you for creating this.

    @lureyourkidsinvan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey you know why your video on this review is so good?
    Because it's based on your own personal experience. You didn't quote specs, or repeat what other people noted. They are all from your own observations and that's so important. Like how you picked up on the aperature click noise within the camera. Most people wouldn't have bothered to mention that, but you noticed it. That's what I like and look for and can't find others who spot things like that. Thank you

    Good straight intro to the D800. I bought mine last year and I love it. I'm inspired by it. Just starting to shoot video. I find the focusing is very hard to control while shooting, so I just use manual focus or lock the autofocus. For white balance the user's manual says auto works best except in certain indoor situations but I'll look into that. With exposure modes, I'm still clueless. I just set a useful aperture. I'm shooting with the Nikkor AF-S 85 1.4G and the AF-S 50 1.4G. I'm overwhelmed by the results of these lenses. Thanks for the accessory recommendations. An external monitor is almost certainly necessary. At the end of the day, what you have to say to the world (hopefully something noble) is what really matters, the D800 won't limit your endeavors.

    Comprehensive, detailed, precise, knowledgeable and pleasantly easy to assimilate "Hands-On" breakdown of the Video controls & abilities of the Nikon D800/800e DSLR. Bravo!!! Thank you so much for making this Video, it was perfect for me as I have been all Nikon for 25 years, but this D800e is my 1st DSLR w/Video, so I motion capture at a 3rd grade level !! But, Really,...GREAT delivery of the many aspects of the D800's Sound, Slo-Mo, focus, WB, K-temp, HDR, etc, etc. "& No Marbles in Mouth"!

P.S: I am really impressed by the D800e.

    Thanks for your feedback. The D800 and D600 are so close in comparison, it would be a hard choice to make for sure. I like the small size of the D600 and it has wifi capabilities for triggering from an iPad etc. Unlike the D600, the D800 has the ability to change the Aperture in Live View Video using the back dial for standard lenses, which is a non issue if you use lenses with a manual lens barrel. D800 has massive RAW image file sizes, which is good and bad, and is more money. Both great!

    I haven't yet played with the video on my D800, and this was a nice refresher of the issues I'll deal with when using the camera for video. One thing that keeps me from using the D800 for video is that I find the need for multi camera angles during recording and to have extra D800's laying around for that is a bit pricey So I end up using some decent Point-n-Shoots to allow the video quality between cameras to be comparable when editing the footage later between camera angles.

    I really learned a lot by watching your review of this Nikon DSLR for video. I disagree with other reviewers saying you spoke too fast, I thought your pace was perfect. Thank you for showing me what the potential was of this camera, as well as a few of the shortcomings. I had been contemplating the Nikon D800E, switching over from Canon after so many years (since shooting 35mm film, then digital). I am, primarily, a photographer, but I do enjoy filming video as well and helpful videos such as yours really inspire me to do more of the same. Do you still shoot with this Nikon D800E (now 5-1/2 years after you recorded this video)?

    Nice review, would have liked to see more comparisons between the 800 and 800e as far as detail goes, like when shooting your Chihuahua to see if the lack of an AA filter yields better detail in his coat for the 800e. Hi, great video really informative. My D800 is arriving tomorrow and I need to use it at the weekend. I've never shot video before and I was wondering if there was a way of shooting in 1080p and then converting to slow motion. Would this essentially be the same as shooting at 60fps in 720? Or would there be a benefit to slowing it down in post?

    Great video tips! Thank you. Is it possible for you to create a follow-up video specifically "focused" on the AF-S mode? I have always struggled with using my D800 to make video clips (blurry, out of focus shots). We are about to travel abroad and prefer to bring just the D800 rather than the D800 and a my vidcam (Canon XA20 HD). Yes, I will lose the HD option, but we are trying to limit the number of equipment that we can carry. Thank you in advance.

    Hoping you will see this comment even though this video was posted years ago!
    I have the Nikon d810. Shooting video with auto focus has been frustrating because of two reasons I’m hoping you can help with - First, the camera is constantly refocusing. I was trying to get video of my newborn moving around on the bed and the camera kept focusing and refocusing. Sometimes it gave off a cool effect but it was mostly just frustrating. Second, when refocusing, it always makes a sound, which is the oicked up by the internal microphone and ends up in my video when I play it back. So back to the video of my newborn, it’s hard to hear him cooing because all I can hear is the camera refocusing.
    What can I do to fix these issues?
    Thank you.

    Thank you for the excellent tutorial, very informative and succinct. I use a D800 with Ninja2 and it produces great video quality. Also I did not fins any issues as others have reported that you cannot have cards in the memory slots if you want HD quality. Same is true for the D4. What I found to be a disadvantage on the Ninja2 is the lack of remote control, at least to start and stop. Other than that it is great for my 800mm f5.6 lens as well as wide field shots with 24-70mm zoom.
