Great lecture Ron. Lots said about the essence of Bill in a short space of time. And THANK YOU for the kinds words about my work on the Bill Evans Webpages. I sure appreciated that, and was quite surprised. Well done, sir, all around.

Thanks for making and having this video posted - to all who were instrumental in getting it done. I'm glad to see Bills alma mater will now have a collection of his materials on hand. They are wise to be proud of his accomplishments. The credits roll over Bills tune "Turn Out The Stars", to the contrary his star will always shine with the beautiful music he made.

I thought he slouched over the piano like that because he was dopesick; or on a heroin high.

The SLU Alumni Jazz Forum opened the 1917 Bill Evans Jazz Festival on February 15th. The 19 alumni all stars performed on the 1st day of the Evans four day fest.

Thanks Mauro. Do you do to the jazz festivals in Peruggio? I played there for several years in the early 80's before I retired and moved to Philippines.

I want to thank Dr. Rob Rijneke of the Netherlands, for making this video possible on youtube. Rob worked very hard to change the files from my original copy, to that useable by youtube. You might also enjoy Rob's personal Evans site at - billevans.nl
Hopefully you that enjoy the music of Bill Evans will find my thoughts enlightening.

What's with this obsession of academic people with Grammy awards?........
Surely, Bill, a genius that he was, didn't need this crutch of approval from establishment and his music speaks for itself.
How many awards did Bach get?.... Bud Powell?... Chopin?....

Certainly no 'obsession' is referred, simply a recognition that an alumni received. Only 12 seconds were devoted in the 27 minute interview re his Grammy Awards. Please review the entire video and see that it represents comments by many admirers, friends, musicains, and difficulty in getting the recording done and released. Bill made personal comments at the concert; something he rarely did, and even did a interview and the end of the "Homecoming" CD.
