Only one coat. I do three-one just to put some color down, one with sprinkled on pumice from a ziplock with lots of holes and another coat on top. You don’t need to tip because the pumice breaks up the little bubbles. When the paint wears off the top of the sand, I still have a lot of color left. I like to nonskid with the wind behind so that as the deck is painted, I don’t get pumice where I’ll overlap the paint as I go down the deck. Painting outside the masking tape is important. Use Washi ultra premium painter’s tape-holds up to the sun and hosing off.
Thanks for sharing the tips! TotalTread will cover completely in one coat. However, we recommend two coats to get the best combination of grip and durability and even three coats for more texture!
I'm in the process of finishing the floor in my boat using Totalboat topside single stage polyurethane and soft sand nonskid. POINTERS: DO NOT mix the sand in the paint. It will come out uneven. Put down a coat of paint thinned 10% with totalboat thinner using a foam roller. Make sure the thickness is uniform by rolling in both directions and leave no thick paint ridges from the edge of the roller. Uneven paint results in uneven amounts of sand adhesion. Sprinkle the sand on THICK so no paint shows through. Let it dry and use a soft bristle hand broom and swap away the excess. This will result in a very even texture, IF your paint was laid down even. The only down side is that you need to buy extra sand. I used a whole quart of soft sand for an area about 4 ft by 10 ft and then swept up 3/4 of the quart to use on the on the half of the floor. Next apply another 1 or 2 coats over the sand to seal it in. Also do NOT paint any smooth surfaces when apply in the first coat over the sand. No matter how well you sweep or vacuum the sand, the roller will pick up some sand and deposit it on the smooth surface.
Can this paint be used on an existing EPDM rubber skin roof of an RV? I have to repaint it, and my options are Durabak textured or Total Tread. It has to withstand extreme UV and heat, be reflective of sun and heat, and have a non skid texture and be able to stick to rubber. Please respond.
I have an 89 Thompson bayliner, and the vynal that runs all around the inside walls is weathered and falling apart and looks aweful. I wonder if I take it all off if this non slip paint would look neat
VINYL, not VYNAL. Do not put non skid paint on walls or vertical surfaces. Every time you brush past it will catch on fabrics. Its for wet floors only like a deck.
I don’t know if it’s too late now or not but it should get sanded with 80-120 grit to have a nice physical bond after that is primer to have a Chemical bond.
Why would you use a non skid traction paint on the inside of a car? It will catch on your clothes and fabrics. This is a non slip paint. You can get a similar paint effect without the non skid factor by using the Total Boat Wet Edge Top Side Polyurethane paint. Polyurethane tough but flexible, smooth, and roller brushes on with Mineral spirits thinning agent and brush cleaner. If you want to spray, reduce with Xylene. Visit Total Boat site to find out specs then order from their suppliers like Jamestown Distributors.
+Kurtis M We don't have the computer here but it can be sent out for a color match - or tint - but it takes some time and back and forth - so it's not on demand.

What's recommended in terms of wait-time until masking tape is pulled up? 5min? 60min? 24hrs?

can you use this on a prepared marine plywood deck as well? or just figerglass surfaces? BTM
Can I use this on a fishing kayak? A dark colored deck is getting very hot. Thx
Do you think this product can be rolled over KiwiGrip? My KiwiGrip is great stuff but a little too aggressive and I'd like to go from white to beige .
I have a 1956 42' Matthews, how many quarts to do top deck and down side I am wondering.
How many square feet is it?
@@TotalBoat approx. 400 sq ft
what is available to refresh existing nonslip in terms of paint ????
I am going to be re painting my boat floor do you recommend sanding it first or at least running a scuff pad over it before applying paint?

Can I use cryl paint in repainting a boat?
Would you recommend to use it on (the factory painted) metal on the inside of a vehicle?

Can you tint this paint?
My question too!!!
More than tint, if I bring a chip of old paint, like the house paint places, can you computer match the colors?

Great video, but highly irritating music/noise in background.
