    My first Pro got stolen with roughly 5000km's on it, a loss of about 10% in range. Since I loved it so much, I decided to buy the Pro2. 1000km's on it already, without a single flat. I have faster scooters as well, but the Pro will always be the perfect city cruiser scooter.

    Xiaomi Scooters were great 4-5 years ago. Still got mine, carry it all the time in my boot and use it occasionally. But since 2017 the competition has moved on, whereas Xiaomi improvements seem very incremental, to say the least. Excellent review as always!

    Thanks for the review. The first thing I did on my Pro 2 was switching from 8.5 inch to 10 inch tyres. They're WAY easier to replace by hand without any tools, I've only had 1 flat tyre in 6 months of daily use. Since I'm in the EU I'm limited to 25kmh / 15.5mph, so the only difference would be extra power when climbing, which I can also have by adding an extra battery. So in my case, as long as there are parts available for the Pro 2, I don't see any reason to upgrade to the Pro 4.

      @wettuga2762 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shaypkettim I actually found a store that makes replacement batteries, they currently have a 36V 19000mAh kit for M365/1S/Essential/3 which replaces the original battery and includes a lower bottom to fit the bigger battery, and they're also developing a 36v 28000mAh kit for the Pro/Pro 2, which is 225% the capacity of the Pro2 original battery. No custom firmware needed, uses the original charger, gives more power when going uphill (but same top speed), but for me, the cherry on top is not needing to charge it daily!

If not, do they sell batteries big enough to take it to recharge in the middle of nowhere? Lastly, safe in the rain w those wires you showed exposed? Good luck in the World Cup match to come!

      Pro 2 is a lot better than 4/4 pro simply because firmware can be modified one way or another, while 4/4 pro are unmodable so far. After riding a properly configured Xiaomi scooter there is no way back to the stock firmware, and it's not necessarily about speed.

    Nice review. I agree with comments though, Xiaomi has kind of stagnated when it comes to scooters. Their main restriction is due to the fact they basically abide by European and other regions laws capping power and speed at 15.5mph. This means that essentially all their scooters can't really compete with others offerings at similar prices and they can only really manage incremental upgrades on their current business model. In my experience for a decent hill climbing experience you need at least a 500W base motor with 1200w peak. Also travelling at 15.5mph is just not a great experience when using a scooter full time to commute in an urban area. After making the transition to scooters of 500w+ / 22mph+ you realise how slow, inconvenient and restricted these lower powered machines are when trying to get places. Also other competing manufacturers have benefited from offering easier self maintenance and upgradability etc which for me is much more important than marginal upgrades.

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Fully agree with you the other brands are doing more in this space pushing high wattage but are limited still to local EU law of 25kph. And cruising at that speed it feels so slow compared to others I have tested like yourself so limited. These scooters have defiantly stagnated, 4-5 years ago when I reviewed the first it was new and exciting, sadly that has faded.

    • @luchdvilleneuve6384
      @luchdvilleneuve6384 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Agreed it slow but (and that's if 22mph+ riders respected the trafic régulations) with 15,5mph cap you're allowed to use bike lanes and avoid some traffic lights instead of burning them. I sometimes wonder if i should jailbreak my PRO2 but honestly, winning 1.5-2mph isn't worth it despite riding 5miles to commute one way.
      The main issue with Xiaomi is scooter is their unwillingness to add dampners...

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, adding s form of damper or shocks would defiantly help the ride since they want us to run 40-50 PSI too which makes the tires very hard.

      @@luchdvilleneuve6384 You should flash your pro 2. You get it to 21mph / 34kmh, and much more torgue and power to go uphills, lower cruise control time, and u can disable that stupid KERS (it still working when braking). Its totally different scooter after flashing. And about battery life, after flashing it didnt drop that much, maybe like ~4km overall on one charge, i still get 26-29km range when going full speed. And you can set D mode to old settings, so u can use it if you want cruise 15.5mph/25kmh. If u are going to flash it, make sure it is compatible with flashing, if the scooter is too new, or the firmware (?) is too new, it doesnt work

I don't like hard tyres.. hard tyres should only be used if you got superb suspension to counter balance that comfort. I do wish I could up the speed just another 5 mph ... I'm sure there's some cheat to do that but finding out correct procedures without ruining battery etc etc is hard to find. This is basically a Segway ninebot f30/f40 except they are ipx5! This is still ip54? Xiaomi just haven’t moved on enough and are basically just the backer behind Segway ninebot now. I agree with some of the comments what we should be seeing here is a better than ip54 rating, 500 watt motor with 1000 peak, indicators would be nice at back and on handlebars and maybe upgrade the plastic bottom to metal finally! That would be great but no 🤦🏽

    • @Techtablets

    Don´t spend your money in this product. It is ridiculous the lack of power, to go up less than 10% slopes.....yes less than half the official 20% . My weight is 90kg. Only 35km range....not 45 or 55km. It is ridiculous !! Xioami refund policy does not accept refund to opened packages......
    I have experience with Segway i2 and i180 (30.000km), and inmotion wheels V8 (5.000km) and V12 (3.000km). My V8 inmotion wheel cost almost the same it is a 800w engine, and does almost all slopes I need.

    everyone is driving 30km/t anyway, so yes the law should be changed. We the people decide, not the f..... up bureaucrats in the EU

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  ปีที่แล้ว

      30km/h would be great and allow at least 500W not 250W. Climbing with only 250W is rubbish.
