I am 60 years old...in I'm thinking around 1990 -91 my buddy Larry was getting tapes of all this thrash and death metal stuff which was kinda new to my ears and just instantly fell in lust with this type of aggressive and raw music whether it was fast and brutal or slow and heavy as LONG AS IT WAS FUCKING DARK I JUST WAS INSTANTLY HOOKED!!!!! But there was a peaceville compilation tape with a bunch of bands on it which is where I first heard DARKTHRONE ..out of all the black metal bands I listen to and worship like bathory, dissection, enslaved, emperor, mayhem, gorgoroth ,etc..... for some reason DARKTHRONE was always my favorite..... Idk why that is being that the other mentioned bands have way more technical abilities as far as guitars and more solid drumming but DARKTHRONE is and always have been dark ,creepy and raw it's like the perfect blend of all types of metal rolled up into one band 🤟🤟🤟💯💯💯💯💯 hail the mighty DARKTHRONE 😜😜😜💯💯🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟

Only discovered darkthrone a few years ago. I love how it is clearly a couple of metal heads just producing quality riffs completely organically.
Here we go again. I have already listened to this more than 20 times. Such an awesome track! They are still getting created even in 2024. (Sometimes.)

These outer space visuals remind me of the videos we’d watch at school in the 80’s.
Guitar tone sounds like Circle the Wagons and the rest of the production similar to Eternal Hails. 8/10 looking forward to the entire album.

I´m 48 years old and back in the 90´s "a blaze in the northern sky" changed my life and my music taste forever!
But I can´t help myself:
Whenever I hear a new darkthrone song I think of how amazing it would be if Fenriz would be still able to do the drums like he was able to lets say: Goatlord

I remember reading a Darkthrone interview many years ago (around 2003), where the interviewer asked them the difference between Darkthrone, and bands like Dimmu Borgir, and Fenriz replied:
“Those bands are like sweet cakes, and Darkthrone is like bread; eventually, people will tire of eating sweet cakes and long for a loaf of bread again.”
I don’t know why, but that really stuck with me, and I often think of it whenever I’m listening to DT.

Brilliant 🔥🤘 I was about to say I was more excited by Coffin Storm but Darkthrone always succeed in renewing that old flame and I simply ended those 6 minutes with shivers.
Coffin Storm record was lit. But if you slapped Nocturno's vocals on there it could easily pass as a DT record too. Very excited for It beckons is all. Everything these two guys touch is gold, no matter if Darkthrone, Coffin Storm or Sarke and Fenriz Red Planet.
