Just came across this video by chance and then checked out the Joe photos on your instagram. Love the troop building. I never engaged in troop building until Classified. I bought multiples of the Cobra trooper and officer, Red Ninja, Viper, Alley Viper, and BAT figures. I also will use any extra heads provided on customized Marvel Legends figures. However, I have had to cut down to 2 or 3 of each of the Joe and Cobra troop builders since I am running out of space to display them in the various scenes I create. If you have the money and space go for it. The alternate head for Big Ben makes a great troop builder.
Army building is what it's all about! You definitely have the right idea! Big Ben could easily double as an army builder, but I think for now I'll stick with just one unless I can catch him on a sale! I'm doing alright on space so far, but I may be in trouble when those Hiss Tanks arrive!
It is never enough! There is no limit in Army building. I got 112 Cobra Infrantry troopers, that is the most of any toy line that I ever had. Like you when i was younger i couldn't afford to Army build, but now I have Cobra divisions. You got a nice collection, keep building

I kind of like how there giving some of the more Green Army man figures like Clutch a steel brigade helmet as well. I could see doing that with other original 13 characters like short fuse. So you could have them being solo characters or green shirts
Love the Grunt Classified figure I sadly only have two I made one into Short Fuse but I’ve been buying Stalkers and paint them OD green I’m trying to make the original 82 Joes not currently produced. I love army building and your armies are amazing but I try to stay around 13 Cobra Troopers, Vipers, Bats ect. The largest Army I’ve built has to be Star Wars Black series Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers, I have around 60 FO Stormtroopers although I favor the original Stormtroopers since I was a kid when Star Wars first came out he was my first kenner figure as a kid, but the FO Stormtroopers we’re on sale and they look awesome. Really love what you are doing with the 6 inch figures that’s what I’m all about too. I try to set all mine up but my wife loves knocking them over lol thanks for making these awesome videos

Not trying to sound like a snob but the helmet doesn't actually have any battle damage to it. What you're seeing at the top and sides of the helmet is actually supposed to be Velcro. Standard military helmets also have Velcro on them so you can add tactical patches to them. "Now you know. And knowing is half the battle!" Great review! Keep up the good work brother!🤙
Great video. After three years Hasbro gives us a real Joe army builder. I never understood why they didn't just make a green-shirt figure. Its good to see a Joe trooper army. I was getting bored of all the pictures of massive Cobra trooper army's. By the way, where did you get your display turn table from? I've been meaning to get one.
I agree 100%! The Joes are definitely more known for the named characters, but having a good army on their side is icing on the cake. I got my rotating base from amazon, but I purchased a 12in ring light to put around the base just to make it pop a bit.
I cancelled my preorder for Grunt because he seemed to have a case of "Lt Falcon Syndrome", but his face doesn't look too bad in your review. I generally just get two of each army builder. I was gonna get five BATs, but the price went up from $20 to $25, so I reduced my order to three. If there's ever a sale, I might get a couple more. The figures I have the most duplicates of are the Black Series Hoth Rebel Soldier and Imperial Snowtrooper (four of each).
The price hikes even if it's just by a few bucks is definitely a bummer. It's crazy that these days sometimes $100 only gets you three figure. They probably going to make a green shirt army builder sometime in the future with 3 different color head sculpt and probably comes a female army builders, too.
I seem to have a lot of Alley Vipers & Red Ninja, more by accident than intent though I just kept getting another, and another when buying things in lots.
I thought about an Army Build, but I'm actually building 2 Good Guy Army Teams; the G.I. Joe Team, and, a Sgt. Nick Fury Jr 'New Howling Commando's'. I am taking alternate Joe's, a few from the Snake Eyes movie, and a few Joe's I wasn't familiar with or that were more or less replaced. Grunt, was originally the Marine, but he was pretty much replaced by Gung Ho! As a result, I have moved Grunt to be in the Fury Team. In early drafts during the revival of G.I. Joe Hasbro did have plans to tie them in the Marvel Universe, led by the son of Nick Fury and there were plans for Destro to appear in Agents of SHIELD comics. Fury Jr eventually became Duke. I don't have a Nick Fury Jr yet, but so far I am Fudging; Movie Storm Shadow as Shinobi Movie Scarlet as Red Rose Movie Akiko as Akiko Alternate Roadblock who actually has the mini-gun as Blockade Desert Snake Eyes as The Asp 2 Headswapped Lady Jaye's as Half Sisters Rush (Amanda) the American, a Female Rambo, and Roulette (Tanya) from Ukraine, sophisticated Infiltration expert. Recondo as 'Croc' A(rthur) Dial Chuckles as Chuck Niles, Hawaiian P.I. and Grunt. So, a pretty good start. May get a Valaverse guy to be my Fury.

I think it was quite dumb to put his name on the figure if it was truly meant to be an army builder. I removed the webgear on one of mine to make him more generic. Also, funfact, the Grunt head makes a great replacement for Falcon's ugly mug.

I wish they didn't do that as well, specially since other Joe figures don't have their name printed on, but It's easy enough for me to ignore. I also like the idea of ebbing them "Grave Troopers." It has a nice ring to it!

Thank you! If you live on the the Eastern half of the country and you have an Ollies near you, I would say check there. You won't find anything recent, but you may luck out and find a deal on a few good characters. I've found Crimson Guard, Dusty, Stalker, Tomax, Xamot, Zarana and Sgt. Slaughter, not to mention the Snake Eyes movie figures all at crazy discounted prices. But your mileage may vary with discount stores like Ollies, Ross and Burlington. Other than that, I would just pop in to Targets and check the app regularly for new drops. Walmart is hit or miss for me. I also like shopping on Amazon and Entertainment Earth. They always have some deal you can capitalize on to lower the price on figures even if they're new. You can try BBTS as well, but I find that they price their figures a bit higher than msrp. You may luck out with a local comic book store, but you'll probably pay a bit more too. Gamestop is good for preorders and getting new figures for retail especially when they come out. That's not a bad idea at all! They also need to stick with a universal ball joint size. The inconsistency as of late is driving me crazy because some head swaps just aren't possible with out some modifications.
I got 10 crimson bats, thats my largest army unless you count all bats together, then i have around 25. Unfortunately I missed out on grunt at 11.99 and he seems to be dried up except for pulse and I dont feel like ordering one grunt at full price.
Nice army size! Amazon also has Grunt for sale now at retail, but I get not wanting to army build at $25 a pop. I've done it and it just requires a little patience to build out the army you want at a gradual pace. I bet one of these days, perhaps around black Friday or Cyber Monday, Grunt may fall to about $20 on amazon, and if he does, I believe it's worth it to grab a few as long as your budget allows.

That's a bummer. I've examined all 37 of my Grunts and unless I missed something I think I had zero quality control issues minus the bent barrels on the m16 weapon. At least you got that extra knife!

Ooh that's kind of tough. I'll split this up two ways for you. First I'll do top five army builders and then top five regular characters. In no particular order: Army Builders: Cobra Trooper/ Cobra Infantry Cobra B.A.T. Cobra Vipers Grunt/ Steel Corp Alley Vipers Named Characters: Serpentor Major Bludd Heavy Artillery Road Block Duke (Wave 1 Recolor) Cobra Island Beach Head The Army Builders are self explanatory, you'll need someone for your joes to fight, but if you had to prioritize try to save up for the Cobra Troopers and Infantry Troopers. They are a bit pricey now, but they aren't getting any cheaper and there is no sign of a restock. You'll have any easier time tracking down the Cobra B.A.T. Alley Vipers, and Grunts for retail right now. As for Cobra Vipers, the single card version is getting pricey, but you can get the Viper 3-pack right now on Amazon for well below retail. It's gone as low as $60. You could get a decent army gong at those prices. As for the named characters, Seprentor was a convention exclusive. He is one of the best characters in the line hands down. He retailed for about $90 before tax. If you could find him for around $100-$120 I'd say go for it. Wave 1 Duke and Cobra Island Beach Head are a bit rare these day. They both should be getting variants in the retro 6 inch line, but if you like the more updated classified looks than I would prioritize these. I think Cobra Island Major Bludd is a great figure and is starting to creep up in price. Heavy Artillery Road Block is also getting rare and is my favorite look for the character in the classified line so far. I doubt because ow classic he already s that he will get a retro release anytime soon. The other characters in the line aren't to hard to track dow., so if you're not trying to be a completist, which would be tough at this point, you'd probably be safe cherry picking the other characters you want later.

I get 11 Eels and post them online and people bitch like I bought them all like little girls. Normally I only do 6 per army building but I did go 11 Eels and 10 Grunts.
The way I see it, it's about whatever makes you enjoy your collection! If you're happy with a smaller army than do that, and if you're like you or me and want to go crazy, as long as you have the means, that's OK too! I just hope Hasbro continues to recognize the desire to troop build and produces enough so that either camp is getting what they want! Believe it or not I still don't have any Eels in my collection. I'm waiting fro them to go back n stock on Amazon. Loving the numbers you did for the Eels and Grunt. I'd be happy with at least eight Eels, but I wouldn't mind 12 myself!
No I don't, but that's part of the fun! I like it when my figures have to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds! I hoping to acquire at least 10 Steel Corps two packs so I have decent arial division. I plan on using the extra male helmet from those packs and putting them on my 16 or so Breaker figures to turn those bodies into army builders. I also would like about eight or so Tripwires so I also have a small bomb squad as well. Thanks for watching!

I'd rather see an army of Sci-Fi & Flash. Bring on the lasers! Oh wait! Hasbro hates Sci-Fi & won't make him. Shit characters like Kamikura, Bazooka & Big Lob are much more important.
I hope Hasbro leans into the more modern designs they were coming out with at the start of the classified line even if ti has to be its own sub-line. I really want the tattoo sleeved Storm Shadow with the bladed tech gauntlets. Hopefully getting characters like Helix is a sign of things to come!
For about a month or so, Target either had an error or a sale that marked this figure down to $11.99. Many people were able to find him in store for the cheaper price and he occasionally would pop back in stock online. I was fortunately able to take advantage of some lucky in store finds and one of the online restocks, all at $11.99 a piece before the price jumped back up to $24.99.
@@therealunclassified It was hit or miss for a lot of collectors as far as in store finds went. I heard some say that Target wouldn't sell the Grunts until an October 1st street date, while other stores limited it to just one per customer.

Not trying to sound like a snob but the helmet doesn't actually have any battle damage to it. What you're seeing at the top and sides of the helmet is actually supposed to be Velcro. Standard military helmets also have Velcro on them so you can add tactical patches to them.

Great video. After three years Hasbro gives us a real Joe army builder. I never understood why they didn't just make a green-shirt figure.

I agree 100%! The Joes are definitely more known for the named characters, but having a good army on their side is icing on the cake.
I got my rotating base from amazon, but I purchased a 12in ring light to put around the base just to make it pop a bit.

I cancelled my preorder for Grunt because he seemed to have a case of "Lt Falcon Syndrome", but his face doesn't look too bad in your review.
I generally just get two of each army builder.
I was gonna get five BATs, but the price went up from $20 to $25, so I reduced my order to three. If there's ever a sale, I might get a couple more.
The figures I have the most duplicates of are the Black Series Hoth Rebel Soldier and Imperial Snowtrooper (four of each).
The price hikes even if it's just by a few bucks is definitely a bummer. It's crazy that these days sometimes $100 only gets you three figure. I seem to have a lot of Alley Vipers & Red Ninja, more by accident than intent though I just kept getting another, and another when buying things in lots.

I thought about an Army Build, but I'm actually building 2 Good Guy Army Teams; the G.I. Joe Team, and, a Sgt. Nick Fury Jr 'New Howling Commando's'. I am taking alternate Joe's, a few from the Snake Eyes movie, and a few Joe's I wasn't familiar with or that were more or less replaced. Grunt, was originally the Marine, but he was pretty much replaced by Gung Ho! As a result, I have moved Grunt to be in the Fury Team. In early drafts during the revival of G.I. Joe Hasbro did have plans to tie them in the Marvel Universe, led by the son of Nick Fury and there were plans for Destro to appear in Agents of SHIELD comics. Fury Jr eventually became Duke. I don't have a Nick Fury Jr yet, but so far I am Fudging;

Typically I only get one, but I did put a 7 member band of Figrin Dans together. 36 is a bit OCD though...

I think it was quite dumb to put his name on the figure if it was truly meant to be an army builder. I removed the webgear on one of mine to make him more generic. Also, funfact, the Grunt head makes a great replacement for Falcon's ugly mug.

Thank you! If you live on the the Eastern half of the country and you have an Ollies near you, I would say check there. You won't find anything recent, but you may luck out and find a deal on a few good characters.
I've found Crimson Guard, Dusty, Stalker, Tomax, Xamot, Zarana and Sgt. Slaughter, not to mention the Snake Eyes movie figures all at crazy discounted prices. But your mileage may vary with discount stores like Ollies, Ross and Burlington.
Other than that, I would just pop in to Targets and check the app regularly for new drops.
Walmart is hit or miss for me.
I also like shopping on Amazon and Entertainment Earth. They always have some deal you can capitalize on to lower the price on figures even if they're new. You can try BBTS as well, but I find that they price their figures a bit higher than msrp.
You may luck out with a local comic book store, but you'll probably pay a bit more too.
Gamestop is good for preorders and getting new figures for retail especially when they come out. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Hasbro needs to put out some head options and hands. Put them out in a separate package, like the old equipment replacement sets.
That's not a bad idea at all! They also need to stick with a universal ball joint size. The inconsistency as of late is driving me crazy because some head swaps just aren't possible with out some modifications.
I got 10 crimson bats, thats my largest army unless you count all bats together, then i have around 25. Unfortunately I missed out on grunt at 11.99 and he seems to be dried up except for pulse and I dont feel like ordering one grunt at full price.
Nice army size! Amazon also has Grunt for sale now at retail, but I get not wanting to army build at $25 a pop. I've done it and it just requires a little patience to build out the army you want at a gradual pace. I bet one of these days, perhaps around black Friday or Cyber Monday, Grunt may fall to about $20 on amazon, and if he does, I believe it's worth it to grab a few as long as your budget allows.

For my grunt I’m a bit upset, the clip/magazine wasn’t in my set but an extra knife was ????? 😅
That's a bummer. I've examined all 37 of my Grunts and unless I missed something I think I had zero quality control issues minus the bent barrels on the m16 weapon. At least you got that extra knife!

Ooh that's kind of tough. I'll split this up two ways for you. First I'll do top five army builders and then top five regular characters. In no particular order:
Army Builders:
Cobra Trooper/ Cobra Infantry
Cobra B.A.T.
Cobra Vipers
Grunt/ Steel Corp
Alley Vipers
Named Characters:
Serpentor
Major Bludd
Heavy Artillery Road Block
Duke (Wave 1 Recolor)
Cobra Island Beach Head
The Army Builders are self explanatory, you'll need someone for your joes to fight, but if you had to prioritize try to save up for the Cobra Troopers and Infantry Troopers. They are a bit pricey now, but they aren't getting any cheaper and there is no sign of a restock. You'll have any easier time tracking down the Cobra B.A.T. Alley Vipers, and Grunts for retail right now. As for Cobra Vipers, the single card version is getting pricey, but you can get the Viper 3-pack right now on Amazon for well below retail. It's gone as low as $60. You could get a decent army gong at those prices.
As for the named characters, Seprentor was a convention exclusive. He is one of the best characters in the line hands down. He retailed for about $90 before tax. If you could find him for around $100-$120 I'd say go for it.
Wave 1 Duke and Cobra Island Beach Head are a bit rare these day. They both should be getting variants in the retro 6 inch line, but if you like the more updated classified looks than I would prioritize these. I think Cobra Island Major Bludd is a great figure and is starting to creep up in price.
Heavy Artillery Road Block is also getting rare and is my favorite look for the character in the classified line so far. I doubt because ow classic he already s that he will get a retro release anytime soon.
The other characters in the line aren't to hard to track dow., so if you're not trying to be a completist, which would be tough at this point, you'd probably be safe cherry picking the other characters you want later.

I get 11 Eels and post them online and people bitch like I bought them all like little girls. Normally I only do 6 per army building but I did go 11 Eels and 10 Grunts.
The way I see it, it's about whatever makes you enjoy your collection! If you're happy with a smaller army than do that, and if you're like you or me and want to go crazy, as long as you have the means, that's OK too!
I just hope Hasbro continues to recognize the desire to troop build and produces enough so that either camp is getting what they want!
Believe it or not I still don't have any Eels in my collection. I'm waiting fro them to go back n stock on Amazon. Loving the numbers you did for the Eels and Grunt. I'd be happy with at least eight Eels, but I wouldn't mind 12 myself!

I don't really mind it. If they have a helmet on, they are no longer Robert Graves to me. They are Steel Corp troop builders in my eyes.

No I don't, but that's part of the fun! I like it when my figures have to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds! I hoping to acquire at least 10 Steel Corps two packs so I have decent arial division. I plan on using the extra male helmet from those packs and putting them on my 16 or so Breaker figures to turn those bodies into army builders. I also would like about eight or so Tripwires so I also have a small bomb squad as well. Thanks for watching!

Oh wait! Hasbro hates Sci-Fi & won't make him. Shit characters like Kamikura, Bazooka & Big Lob are much more important.
I hope Hasbro leans into the more modern designs they were coming out with at the start of the classified line even if ti has to be its own sub-line. I really want the tattoo sleeved Storm Shadow with the bladed tech gauntlets. Hopefully getting characters like Helix is a sign of things to come!
How did you get them online for 11.99
For about a month or so, Target either had an error or a sale that marked this figure down to $11.99. Many people were able to find him in store for the cheaper price and he occasionally would pop back in stock online. I was fortunately able to take advantage of some lucky in store finds and one of the online restocks, all at $11.99 a piece before the price jumped back up to $24.99.

@@therealunclassified It was hit or miss for a lot of collectors as far as in store finds went. I heard some say that Target wouldn't sell the Grunts until an October 1st street date, while other stores limited it to just one per customer.
