    I saw him play this song almost 50 years ago, and to this day, still remember the feeling as if time stood still during his solo.

    Mike was the most melodic blues guitarist ever. He was otherworldly good.

    Arguably the best blues guitar player of his generation.

      @@goldenbutterrevue517 he is way too busy in his playing. Blues needs to breathe. Mike just plays way too many notes for my taste. A flurry here and there is ok but not just constant stream of meaningless runs.

    Loved attending Michael Bloomfield concerts at The Fillmore and other places. I've never seen this one. I live in Bellingham, WA.,next to WWU now and going to play this and some history of Mike tonight. Love this song!!

    Wow. Only Bloomfield could play with this much raw emotion. It wasn't always like that, especially getting on toward the end like this one is. But when he was on his game and into it, no one could touch him for blues playing.

    • @judyburton9712
      @judyburton9712 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think Clapton plays with that raw emotion as well.
      He was definitely an influence for Eric.

      Having said that it would have been a simple matter to remix this and bring Mike up and turn the vocal down. If I had time I'd do it myself. But this video has already had 42,000 views! All well deserved.

    Thanks for posting this. Bloomfield was one of those players that when he was "on" he was "ON". This is one of those times he doesn't rush it and plays what he used to call "sweet Blues". Although the Blues masses concentrate more on remembering other artists I always was and will remain a Bloomfield lover. Him and Albert King. Cheers.

      Bloomfield lovers we both are! I was lucky (or not) enough to have seen him live once ( I saw Paul Butterfield Band right after he left! Damn!) in Montreal in a small club. It looked like he had put together a quick pickup band and was constantly coaching/managing them on stage. His playing, that night was not what I hear when I listen to Fillmore West etc.. He was a disappointment and I was young and stupid and became angry and confused that such a prodigious player did not live up to my expectations (or his brilliant recordings). I really wanted to talk to him to tell him how I loved his music but reacted harshly and stupidly proud. I regret that. Everyone i sallowed to have off days. He died a few months after. I don't have all but a lot of his recordings. I loved and still love his soloing. Stone Blues! Again thanks for putting this up. Your love for Bloomfield shines through. Cheers.

      Excellent clip and salient point about his rushing. Saw him many times as a kid and yeah, when he was on he was phenomenal. Straight, clean, loud thru Twins. But to be honest that was not always the case. He never got sloppy like Bishop but MB would rush so bad things sounded like a train wreck. As a guitar player he was my first inspiration, even before Clapton and the Beano album. When I first took serious lessons from a maestro in Chicago said I wanted to play like Bloomie. He replied, "Well, let me show you arpeggios." Still playing them.

      Jim: You nailed it as does Bloomfield here. He often seemed to want to rush or simply play too much. I love how he breathes on this one. Great tone, great performance.

    Mike is perhaps the finest example of what the blues was ment to sound like! This from a hippie that was in Chicago in 65’ then in cal 66-68’ the blues baby!
