Just finished doing mine! Bought a rx welder from amazon and it worked like a charm

Glad that thing is hidden behind the glove box. 😅. For a cleaner and quicker job, use a dremel and epoxy.

just careful the mechanism is set so it doesn't go too far .. almost think I need to get a new one or will have a part 2 of adjusting the run to fix .. mine worked but just traveled too far so now actually have a Allen key with flexible wire to close/open manually so it doesn't break it again .. I know the new part is like 60 bucks on amazon(but does it work right?) .. will be a toss up if I can adjust run I did see a turn pot .. main worries was car would seem to 'reset' every once in a while... you'd hear it turning and try not to panic it'd bust n ya have to do it again ..that and the mechanism seemed to stop working until I jiggled it *maybe wire loose?.. so remove til i mess with again and still have heat ... spending $0 .. just keep an ear on things cuz the root of the problem still may need a fix .. glad I could help!

sorry I legit got the idea off a forum post n didn't know yours existed idk why I searched for 2011 equinox maybe .. I just watched and yours would have helped cuz I didn't even know what the end looked like that broke .. took extra day of searching to even find what I did and guess .. then just posted it.. if it matters to anyone check buddy's video it is basically the same as this one .. I will be having pt 2 as the motor adjustment is out.. and am using a hair tie shoe string and piece of wire to hold open or closed.. hoping I can stop it from going too far adjusting turn pot .. again wish I saw your video when I needed it

just fyi tried opening motor up drilling hole over adjustment pod .. no good didn't turn.. put back in and found possibly it was slipping due to broken plastic lock holders/clamps idk what else to call them ..electrical tape has it held down now to not pop up and is working ... so no adjustment possible ...let me know if you find different ..again hope you find this useful .. they shouldn't design this without an access to replace without having to remove dash

I had to do this with my 2010 chevy equinox but problem is my fiance lost the pieces he cut out so now i have a hole i cant fill and also now have no heat in car

it's all plastic.. ..you could try and find another hunk of flat plastic if the cut out is what you lost a junk yard will have plenty of that kind of plastic just get type that looks like stuff used in car off another..hopeful the 'pivot' hole the vent fits in wasn't cut out.. either way can use the solder iron and plastic or jbweld to first get the pivot hole/circle the part fits back into and then cover the access hole .. at least you can buy a new vent the links are further down in some comments.. that would be the only part you could not do without... .. it doesn't need to be pretty and I did use different plastic tho the same type seems to mold better and be stronger... if you still have vent you could duct tape the hole.. melting the plastic does way better than duct tape but.. this does take some skill and am sorry but loosing the pieces is absolute worse case scenario ..fyi the heat is on the bottom so the vent needs to be like / to just get you heat ..you can even use an allen key in the end of the vent that the motor attaches to manually set it to heat / in that position .. again sorry ..good luck! .. it sounds still fixable .. I had to do the manual way for a bit until I found that the motor was coming apart (in addition to the broken vent) and needed to be taped closed .. a little more work vs trashing the car ..as I saw it if I could not fix mine was going to the junkyard

I did search 2020 you may want to double check your year etc so it's the exact one for yours ..2011 motor looks different .. the following is the motor mechanism for a 2020 equinox

wish I could ... don't have the money and need heat ..so do what I could .. 70 bucks might as well be 1000 for a new part when you don't have it.. believe me first try it broke and had to do again I was freaking cuz I have crap circulation and cold isn't my friend with winter around the corner .. lol .. its not flying it's falling with style ..it maybe a good time to double on disclaimer to do this at your own risk and do buy new part if you can ..links are in another comment on where to get on amazon .. I'd not normally cut into a vehicle if it was under 10 years old as a rule of thumb as well...but ..heck the car is probably worth the price of a shop fixing the part and removing dash.. before someone does it just because.. I've bush fixed things for years so pick your battles ... it's a tight fit for anyone with bad hands as well to try and do and maybe don't try if your DIY skills are low.. otherwise good luck, and thanks for mention as someone needs to consider this stuff before doing
