    I used to watch this when I was training for another sport over a decade ago, this series is great! It's so old-school and obviously most of the training is sport-specific however there is so much carryover/overlap with strength sports that I picked up a few things/adapted them to my sport. Every athlete can learn a thing or two from these videos!

    i met this guy in zurich in 1991, didn't know who he was. he's a giant, absolutely huge. seen taller, but never seen anyone wider/thicker, ever.

    it wouldnt be in the 500s thats for sure, the all time world record in the clean and jerk is 586 so i dont think its posible for anyone to power clean 500 like that for triples. but this man is one of the best athletes i have ever seen.

      I know several different people who have seen him jerk behind the neck 260+ kg when he was in Lille (France) in the 90's for a competition
      One of the most athletics specimen ever for sure, Jean Pierre Egger his coach said he was the most athletic specimen he has ever seen, which considering his blend of size (6'7 285lbs), strength, explosivness, speed etc is definitively believable.
      ps : power clean must have been in the 180 range

    I need to lie down to contemplate what I've just witnessed....I've never seen a human flick about nearly a quarter tonne with such ease and disdain.

    Werner Gunthor : 2 mètres, 130 kg...La masse, plus la taille pour la puissance des bras de levier. Une biomécanique idéale pour la discipline.

    @mister100m Ratios becoming significantly less valuable as weight increases.

  • @guter2444
    @guter2444 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well first of all tyson was not "small" and in throwing being big IS important having more mass is gonna help you throw the shot farther. not to say you cant throw far while being smaller, just helps. And for the ratio thing who cares if his ratio isnt higher than a smaller guys, hes a track athlete not a weightlifter. The ratio thing is just something people use for being weaker than a person thats bigger, and im 185 lbs, just be stronger than him then theres no debate.

      It's irrelevant, 20 Metres is not good enough for anything.

    Is Gunthor power cleaning nearly 250kg here?...in easy reps of three or four???...Nooooo!...this is not meant to be possible for a Human! The more I watch Gunthor, the more he freaks me out.

      More like 180ish, but he is still one of the most athletic big men ever, if not the most

  • @mister100m
    @mister100m 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guys you all forget about strength/bodyweight ratio; so he could bench 200kg but that " just" makes 1,5 bodyweight and his squat is about 1,8~2*bodyweight so strong yes but compared someone weighting less than him assuming that he weighted about 300lbs/130~140kg.
    I have the same ratio but with my bodyweight

    • @Miiiiiiighty
      @Miiiiiiighty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He was "only" 130kg though.
      And the bigger you are the smaller your ratio for a variety of reason ( levers length, law of diminishing returns, skeletal structure not being able to endure much more force than smaller people ... )
      Btw he did behing the neck jerk with 260+kg.
      Try finding someone who can do that at his weight spewing BS.
      ps : and his lifts were reps in the middle of multi modalities training session, definitely not 1RM's.
      Bench must have been in the 250kg range for sure.
