    a good trick for cars is to wait for 2 trucks to pass, then you can contact the truck going to other way, he'll give you the right info as he'll think its the other truck, some give dodgy or no info when they know its a car contacting them

      Australian Trucker Rod All Good mate.I grew up in trucks as my father & one of his brothers owned & operated all their life.I’ve been behind the wheel 32 years & as an owner/driver myself the last 15 years having a T900 then in 2009 bought a new T 408 SAR.Both had UHF & CB radios.The SAR from new come with both.I sold my trucks now & have been driving for a mate for about 10 months now & 2 weeks ago got a brand new K200Aerodyne.Guess what? Only come with a 80 channel UHF & no CB.I ask the salesman about it when we picked it up & he said that they are just about obsolete,no one uses them.I used to like my AM BAND CB.I suppose everything in life changes.

    All the Truck and body Builders are doing record builds not shocked that it has a few issues, on build. Wiki has close to correct info on CB info,i don't ever talk unless there's a hazard,or another truck has a issue such as insecure load. I just let it scan all channels. Depanding on companies some will use a set channel away from the main channels. Alot of dills in Melbourne misuse CB's which is a pain. CB also saves your phone bill company chatter,which will have CB around still as long as the government keeps it free.

    Those Thorpe K200 are some of the best looking trucks around. I love the blue Mainfreight one that's getting around, which has a very similar spec except it's blue obviously. Is Thorpe a good company to work for? Seems like a dream drive to me.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. Thorpe is good to work for. Maintenance is kept up, your truck is washed, you can take passengers, a recent pay rise. The downside is the companies we tow for can be a problem at times. My job is easy just dropping trailers, some drivers load and unload. You are right, the trucks are basically the same.

    Great video Rod, I was on gas tankers and the laws about CB’S was horrendous, if I loaded out of ConocoPhillips in Immingham they made you take it out along with your night heater and leave them at the gatehouse. All pet reg lorries have master switches to out the power of the lorry but still ConocoPhillips made you take both items out, the customer that I pulled for would shop about for the cheapest gas, some places like Esso at Southampton would not bother, the loader would test the master switch then power it off and load you. It was a real pain taking out the night heater as they were fitted under the bed and you had to move all your stuff to get at it and unscrew the 4 nuts and disconnect the fuel pipe to take it out just for 50 minutes. Yes I enjoyed the CB Rod but as the years went on you got more idiots, for the want of a better word, you got people with huge burners, large amplifier, wiping out you signal so I gave it up, funny thing is Rod I still have my CB, it was a Rotel 240.
    Have a great weekend Rod.
