    Hi Rod....
    a few months back I asked about advise getting a foot in the door driving... you said just persist asking...
    eventually I got a full time job doing metro here in Perth... 3rd week now and starting to relax a bit....
    driving an old k100 (roadranger).
    cheers mate.

      Great to hear buddy, won't take long to get used to it. K100, have driven many of those over the years. Watched a driver back into a driveway, blocking traffic, stopped in the centre of the road, got out of the truck to check his blindside. That is a professional driver putting safety and avoiding damage first. At the end of the day, you are in charge of the truck, doing the right thing will save headaches later. Have a great day.

    I think we're the contrary Rod, I think what ever video you put out will be enjoyable for us! Good to see them finally fixing up the western fwy.
    I like to think that the a doubles are becoming the new b doubles. Don't see a lot of triples and mainly because a doubles have the same turning pattern as a b doubles. Maxwell frieghtlines as well do a doubles.

      Would be great to have duel lanes all the way to Adelaide, I think you are right, beside the container trucks there are waste and landscaping companies heading up the Hume every morning, they are everywhere now.

    G'day mate, the Euro Pantec is an Sar 610.
    Also I thought it might have been you I saw parked up in Coonalpyn I think it was the other week.
    I commend you for making these videos seemingly effortlessly, I tried making one going thru Melbourne cbd with a loaded livestock truck to bypass the tunnel and it was a lot harder to talk thru what I was doing than I thought it would be.
    Good to see you back again, look forward to the next one 👍

      Yes, that 610 twin steer is quite impressive, would be just another truck to our friend in NZ. Yes, that would have been me in Coonalpyn had to have an extra 30 min break, left a little earlier out of Adelaide. Have a great day.

    Hey Rod,
    I have a disability called Galactosemia. I cannot learn from books. And I have not had kids because the disability pension is really bad with living on. I do not want kids. The Irish Gypsies created this freak of a disorder.
    I cannot drink cows milk or eat dairy food because my liver cannot process the GALACTOSE sugars.
    I can drink alcohol and I quit smoking cigarettes 80 days ago.
    I have schizophrenia too. I am an introvert and a hermit.

    Happy New Year mate. Yeah, a reversing video would be good. I’m always trying to explain a B Double to my mates here in the U.K. They think they are the same as a road train. I’ve been out of Australia for 14 years . The last time I drove a B Double was in 2004.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will get that done over the next few weeks, have to be when I leave on a Sunday as I would have more time and it would be during the day. Some B Doubles have got a little longer, but as I mentioned I think the move will be towards B Triples and 2 Trailer Road Trains.

    hey Rod. im 16 and i have been interested in trucking for as long as i can remember. as a kid my dream job was to be a truck driver until i found a interest in computer hardware. as im becoming older i realised being a truck driver would probably be the better choice as i love long drives because i grew up traveling around western Australia with a car and caravan. what would be a recommendation/requirement i would need to get into this line of work. Is there anything i can do to kick start my dream job of becoming a truck driver?
    cheers Jay

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jay, Being young would you ever consider being a heavy vehicle diesel mechanic, doesn't have to be a long-term career, would recommend an apprenticeship with a transport company rather than just a truck repair. Obtain your licenses as you go through the training, show you are keen to be a driver, Driver with diesel mechanical experience, companies love that.
      Another way is to get a job in a transport company as a loader/strapper, get your forklift licence and help load the trucks. Show you are keen to drive I'm sure you will get a driving job. just a couple of suggestions.

    How much money is paid per kilometer for the owner operator in Australia, and how much % remains after paying all the fees? Greetings from Europe :)

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry Billy for the late reply. Not being an owner driver can only give an estimate. I do know that the company I work for gets $2300 per trip approximately 870km that is about $2.65 per km, 5 per week $11,500, fuel $2000 per week. have a friend, his older truck cost him $3000 per week in expenses, newer the truck higher the cost, most European truck dealers offer service package with a new truck, all service cost built into the lease, or finances payments. Could be $5000 per week.
      That will give you an idea of the cost.
      There are so many different scenarios.
