The message of Metal Gear is that there are no villains. No good guys nor bad guys. Just people carrying out their philosophy. This is an excellent video by the way
+ShyanTheLegend What? That isn't really the message, the message runs more along the lines of "Die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". Some of these guys do some truly horrific shit, there's no doubt they're evil (and Hideo Kojima himself CALLS BB evil), however the way in which some of them get there is what's interesting. Nobody comes out of the womb evil.
Mitch Manta I don't know how people think BB is anything other than a villain, "muh SS kills people" he kills terrorists, for the mission, agaisnt people with intentions to you know drop nukes on the world, Big Boss takes child soldiers and wants eternal war, threatened the world with nukes too, anyone who thinks otherwise should educate themselves. At best he's an anti villian.
"If you had been in my place back then, maybe you wouldn't have made the same mistakes I did. Ever since the day I killed The Boss with my own hands, I... was already dead."
Many don't see Big Boss as a villain. But even Hideo Kojima says "It is important for me to explain to the players how this hero became an evil to the entire world". And when you think about it he runs nuclear equipped mercenary company. The entire business model depends on the world being in a war. His operations are run by blood money, hires child soldiers, hides nuclear weapons from UN...
All the character that you mentioned are not mindless villain, they are humans with their character, emotion and actions which seems reasonable to them. Maybe you should have used antagonists instead of villains. Anyway, Many people knows Big Boss from MGS3 and never played MG1 and MG2 so they don't know that he is the main villain for these games :P Keep doing what you are doing :D
Go back and check the MSX games, he felt like a warmonger who rise child soldier!! He is a villain pretty much, he has his reason. And for me I prefer Solid as a person, not saying BB is bad.
You might be right but Kojima is mostly hinting for a darker BB We'll see how it turns out in TPP maybe there is a good explanation. Plus, he seem to be raising some child soldiers but that is just a speculation. And as I said before, MGS has people with different motivation and reasons, there are no good and evil, just like real life.
How is Ocelot evil? In the grand scheme of the things he was doing, he was as heroic as Solid Snake. In '64, he was a spy for the CIA and helped Snake. In '84, he helped Venom Snake stop Skull Face and stop all English-speaking people from being killed. In Shadow Moses, he was once again a spy for the U.S. Gov. In the Tanker/Big Shell incident, he tried to help Solidus overthrow the Patriots. And during Liquid's Insurrection, Ocelot was revealed to have brainwashed himself to believe he is Liquid so that he can try to take control over G.W. because Ocelot knew Solid Snake would brave anything to kill Liquid once and for all, and he knew that Snake would also destroy G.W. if he had the chance.
Solidus was a black hero, he did very bad things but in 2 he tried to free the people and give them their Civil Liberties by destroying the Patriots. Raiden was a operator for the Patriots, because Solidus was going against them, they sent Raiden to deal with him.
Ocelot was a hero, in the end, as was Big Boss and even Solidus to an extent. But what they did to achieve the goal makes them villains, at least in the MGS universe. There is no true evil in the MGS universe, not true villain, just people trying to interpret another's will, but none of them fully understand, and so they demonise themselves, intentionally or not. I guess the one enemy in this universe is war itself, managed through The Patriots. Also, Venom Snake never did anything wrong, he isn't a villain and in fact tries to save everyone he can (at least when I play MGSV lol), I wouldn't call him a villain, but I would say Big Boss was, as he was willing to let a whole hospital staff and patients to get slaughtered, just so him and his legacy (Venom) would survive, so he could escape the public eye and escape death for the moment. However, we never see Big Boss pull the trigger on innocent people or on children, he himself may never have killed anyone, apart from The Boss and eventually the already dying Zero, depending on how you've played the games prior to The Phantom Pain. I typed way more than I originally set out to do here lol, but the main thing is, there is only one clear villain in the Metal Gear universe; war.
Jaymes Shoreman well, Volgin is as close to a true 1 dimensional villain as we van get in the Metal Gear universe. Not trying to undermine your point, just saying
Jaymes Shoreman solid Snake and liquid are the main bad guys from my point of view I wish I could time paradox solids Mario mustache looking ass in a venom V.S solid fight
@@JohnnyDominion so.... That just makes your point worse. Because if his memories were altered he could've forgot his combat skills (and he probably did)

I saw a video analysis from MGS fans stated that Big Boss is not really a villain in the end. We are playing a different character who thinks he's Big Boss in MGS5....yeah sounds ridiculous but that video really blew my mind as it seems they really dig the clues that Kojima is hiding...anyways...this video is awesome!
The definition of villain to most people is a heartless killer, a man of evil, these characters follow a different definition, seen as a villian by the eyes of the media.
Big Boss's will was always to create a home/base, for soldiers of war. In the MG games I actually viewed Solid Snake as the villain because he was blindly following orders of Langley and the Patriots. As for the child soldiers...they are better off in Big Boss's army than in cages, if you recall one of the MGS5 trailers. So as of now I do not see any reason why Big Boss should be labeled a villain.
In order for Big Boss to have a home for his soldiers, there has to be constant war in the world so that they are always needed and respected. So he doesn't give two shits about innocents or anything like that just as long chaos and blood is being spilt, there will always be room in the world for him.
GentxScholar Venom tried to rescue the child soldiers from Africa and look what happened, most of them rebelled and escaped, stealing a half-broken Sahelanthropus, a helicopter and kidnapped a pilot to fly it. They were born and raised on the battlefield, most of them wouldn't want to give that up. Maybe its best to just offer them a chance to leave or continue fighting.
Ricky Lowell I don't particularly like that part of the plot. Someone would've noticed huey rebuilding a giant metal gear lol I try not to think about the mgs story too much though.
GentxScholar But the thing is: Huey didn't rebuild Sahelanthropus, the only Metal Gear he only worked on was the custom Walker Gear and the Battle Gear. How Sahelanthropus got repaired was because Huey was chatting with the children every now and then and they would bring up the topic about how to repair it and Huey would say how he would've done it if he were to do it, meaning he unintentionally gave step-by-step instructions so the children could steal his supposed-to-be statue of steel representing Diamond Dog's triumph.
Well, he isn't really that important or reliever for that matter. While he may have beaten Snake in his prime, Snake did beat his ass in Guns of the Patriots if I remember correctly.
Gracjan Idziaszek he killed the creator of the Patriots AI Emma. He was raidens main antagonist. He did most of the grunt work in mgs4 and mgs2. He is the best nanomachined powered dude who can deflect bullets with his knife, run of the side of big shell, pilot a jet, and was just such a bad ass. Him killing emma severely complicated MGS story. If sunny never showed up, they'd never be able to stop liquid.
+Emerson “Troy” Hodgson I see your point, but mine still mostly stands. He's comparable to the Orcs in Lord of the Rings. Sure, they did and caused a lot of trouble for the good guys, but they aren't really the biggest threat at the moment. Also, IMO, Raiden's main antagonist is Solidus. I mean, sure, Raiden and Vamp had a small rivalry, but Raiden had that with Sam. Solidus had the most impact on him out of all the villains, therefore, again IMO, he's his biggest antagonist
Snake was no longer at his prime during MGS2. He wasn't the exhausted dying old man he was in MGS4, but not the powerhouse he was in MGS, either. And despite being a super soldier, Snake was never created to counter the likes of Vamp. Snake is basically a soldier at peak level, but Vamp is still a supernatural freak. It took Raiden to turn into a skull and a spine attached to machinery to counter his shtick.
Dude Big boss Not a evil JUST another man trying to unite the humanity together to make the world in peace But in the Wrong way like always In the real life In Game life
A lot of big boss's child soldiers where volunteers like Chico weren't they? Unlike the other pic or military groups who created child soldiers through drugs to make them fearless like with raiden aka Jack the Ripper
Let me tell you this guys, THAT Big Boss in MGS5 that has a horn in his head and a prosthetic arm is VENOM, also known as Punished "Venom" Snake in the Phantom Pain. He is just a doppelganger for the real Big Boss, Venom is actually the one who Solid Snake killed with just a can of hairspray and a lighter, he is not the real deal. To know why he was the main protagonist in the MGS5 PP, just play trough it, then you'll understand.
+Nathaniel Tiamson Well your half right venom snake is the one you play in mgsv and solid snake does kill him but in metal gear and in metal gear 2 he kills the real big boss with the hairspray and lighter how is this so hard for peapole understand it's in the end credits in mgsv
Well it's a long answer but i'll try to keep it short its the real big boss that solid snake meets at the end of mgs4 what happen's is after solid snake beats big boss at the end of mg2 the patriots recover big boss his alive but just barley they inject nanomachines in his body to induce a coma 15 years go by raiden finds his body for eva she uses liquid and solidus dna to restore his body then when sunny uploads foxalive in the ai system he wakes up boom there you go
The message of Metal Gear is that there are no villains. No good guys nor bad guys. Just people carrying out their philosophy. This is an excellent video by the way

You should how done liquid ocelot no revolver ocelot
Liquid Snake and Sniper Wolf are my fav
No vamp? He is literally the only character who overpowered solid snake in his PRIME! He also goes toe to toe with Raiden with his suit!
Well, he isn't really that important or reliever for that matter. While he may have beaten Snake in his prime, Snake did beat his ass in Guns of the Patriots if I remember correctly.
+Gracjan Idziaszek *relevant
WHY DID YOU MAKE ME THE MOST SILENT CHARACTER?!
"..." Quoted by Big Boss
Ocelot works for every company in the world
More more more !!!!!!!!!

Can someone explain to me how these guys are villains?
Dude
Big boss
Not a evil
JUST another man trying to unite the humanity together to make the world in peace
But in the Wrong way like always
In the real life
In Game life
Kooooonaaamiiii...
Want about major zero and vamp and skill face
Oh yeah? Then who is the "Big Boss" that solid snake met in mgs4? ;)
Well it's a long answer but i'll try to keep it short its the real big boss that solid snake meets at the end of mgs4 what happen's is after solid snake beats big boss at the end of mg2 the patriots recover big boss his alive but just barley they inject nanomachines in his body to induce a coma 15 years go by raiden finds his body for eva she uses liquid and solidus dna to restore his body then when sunny uploads foxalive in the ai system he wakes up boom there you go
damn you proved me wrong :D i didn't know that because of the long ass cutscene, i literally fell asleep
Yeah mgs4 is infamous for having some long ass cutscenes
