The Fastest Trowel on the Block Competition, hosted by the Mason Contractors Association of America, is a showcase of industry craftsmanship and a testament of both the speed and skill of our industry's workforce. Only those journeymen masons who have the skill, confidence and courage to face-off with the industry's best are invited to compete. This is a contest that also proves how important teamwork is in accomplishing a final product.
The competition pits journeyman masons, accompanied by their two favorite tenders, against one another in a show of both speed and craftsmanship. Each contestant's goal is to complete as much of a 30 foot long long wall as possible, using 8"x8"x16" CMU and the provided mortar in a twenty-minute heat. Contestants must have a high degree of workmanship using normal masonry practices and hand tools.

At about 4 minutes 54 seconds on their clock the camera pans around one of their leads with the sunlight shining on it you can see how bad they lip I bet those walls look like s*** up close

They're donated to the homeless.
Recycle the motar into concrete dust or used to fill-in holes. Blocks are cleaned up and used to be sold as second hand products.
Everything is always recycled, crushed down, even rebar is melted down again to form new steel bars.

Were they only judging on quantity alone? What about level, plumb, range, cleanness, etc - or were these automatically assumed? Brickies hitting their levels on the wall!!! Not necessarily the best technique :(

good. A masonry Exeter. I work masonry but I lay toilets as building units.you use block, brick, stone: I use toilets for units. I can make stack bond, stretcher, soldier. But I have to stand the toilet with the boll pointing skyward but after we're done, man does it ever look gorgeous. Anand people notice our work.

Good thing it gets covered by dirt...I payed the patlan bros $30/hour to block my foundation. In the end, I had an 8 foot basement and they each had $90.. You would try and charge me an extra $10,000 to make it look pretty.. scammer
