    I understand the gimbals are moved out towards the side more than the 12 so you can move them to the 11 o’clock position fully and easier while pinching.

    I just picked up the iX14 and so far it is great. I am dying to go outside and fly something and see how it feels. I agree the rear sliders dont feel as nice as the iX12 which I have. I use them on my turbines for brakes and smoke so we will see how I feel after a few flights later this spring. My iX12 would usually take sometimes 20 minutes to load up some days and drive me absolutely crazy and thus the reason for picking up the iX14.

      I can't wait to try it out further as well. Only time I have with the radio is indoors.
      Wow, 20minutes, that's kinda nuts. Do you plan to sell the 12? I haven't decided on this yet.

      @@RCexplained I was going to light mine on fire after all of the frustrations. It did that multiple times to me, with my jet ready to go and beautiful weather and a radio that will not load. I may sell it, but then I would have to face that person later on...

    Comment on Throttle/Collective stick "stickiness" at around 10:31min. This Throttle/Collective stick "stickiness" is pretty much universal across all radios I've held in my hands (VBar Control, several Futabas, lots of Spektrums, most Jetis, USB transmitters, etc). Performing the so called "Teflon Mod" will make all transmitters Throttle/Collective stick from a $50 USB transmitter to a $2800 Jeti DS-24 radio feel silky smooth though the complete range of travel without any sticky spots.

    I watched how Spektrum handled the DX6R and learned to stay away and wait. It's better to be patient Than to get burned by Horizon/Spektrum releasing another product they won't support long term. Eventually they'll get it right but both radios are too expensive to gamble with until they're proven.

    Great radio I guess but at $900.00 I would gratefully forego some of the esoteric programing features blah, blah, blah for a somewhat decent set of gimbals... SERIOUSLY, isn't that kinda one of the most important things on a "quality" radio? I suppose this thing would be great for crawlers tanks and tug boats, as for Heli's?
    I am not exaggerating when I say the radio that came with an inexpensive RTF copter is much smoother than the iX14 even after utilizing all adjustments.
    I am very engineer minded and appreciate value and precision quality. Upon opening the radio to lubricate (fix) the gimbal sliders it was blatantly obvious that the build quality the iX14 gimbal is complete crap.... well for 900 bucks it is.
    C'mon Spectrum, you otta be ashamed! At least offer an upgrade or better yet, price it appropriately for what you're giving us, or give me 900 bucks worth right out of the box!
    Otherwise... LOVE the orange switch nuts and cannot wait till the orange grips come out, (great upgrades) way to go Spektrum keeping your eye on what's important!
    That's what I really need... ORANGE stuff?

    Can I run a 3s battey on these RTR rc car electronic specs?

    Motor- 3650, 3300KV brushless motor.

      @Len_M. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your ESC/Motor are going to dictate what you can or can’t run as far as Battery Packs. The only way you can change things is Capacity wise having more Cells running in Parallel instead of Series. Series increases Voltage where Parallel just increases Capacity. I could be wrong as I’m not super into modding things so if there is a safe way to “safely” over-volting your ESC/Motor I’m sure someone will chime in. I think your best bet would be to change your gearing.

    Sorry, but I don’t like the IX 12. Not only the boot up time and the lag in selecting programs but also the total field of the radio. I’ve owned a lot of radios from the Old Futaba 27 MHz to the gold FGK’s. Then the JR Apollos through the galaxy 8+ the 9503. My first computer radio was the galaxy eight, this particular radio was the first of the computer generation. It was very hard to program, but I loved it dearly. I still own it and it still works. I now fly a lot of giant scale Warbirds. I also repair and build ARF’s Warbirds for customers so I needed a minimum of 12 channels . So I updated. my 9503 to the I X 12 to keep up with the different technologies coming out. I must say I don’t agree that we need these android programs and our flying radios a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi maybe and that’s a big maybe.
    In 2012 I bought what I intended to be the last new radio I would ever need. I picked up a brand new 18 MZ at my local hobby shop. Wow I really like that radio plus it had four sliders on the right and left two of which Would operate from the front or the back. The only problem was learning how to use/program a Futaba system seeing that the last Futaba I owned was an FGK.
    In 2023 my MZ is still working perfectly and I was able to acquire another 18 MZ for 1/3 The price of my original MZ. I love the fact that with the proper receiver, I don’t need to be able to get into the airplane to re-bind to a different transmitter. The other great thing about these 18s is you can easily take the SD card and transfer models between each radio‘s super super easily. 😊That means my trusted friends can also fly my Warbirds. TAKE THAT SPEKTRUM!

    i realize that the ix12 is a little slow on boot up. im still fine with it. i also have a radiomaster t16s max. and there is just no way i can justify spending the money to upgrade to the 14. i just cant. if i did not have a 12 already it might be a different story. i really dont have anything negative to say about either . i hope this helps anyone making a purchasing decision.

    • @RCexplained

    Thanks for the review/comparison video, they always help.👍
    I have a question I know you can you can answer.
    100t spur gear 50t pinion gear, (a 2-1 ratio) 50t spur gear 25t pinion, same thing, the question is witch one is better for use in an rc car particularly a speed run/drag rc car ? My inclination would be the smaller dia gears would be best but you have surprised me before, so thank you for doing a video on this topic if you believe it beneficial in the quest for speed. 👍

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The simple answer is that there is negligible difference, both perform the same. The more detailed answer would be to use the smaller gears for less inertia to accelerate the mass and a lot more feasible to physically fit the smaller gears.

      There's an export function on the iX12 and an import function on the iX14. Use these and transfer the files between each model using bluetooth the exact same way you would on a cell phone. It's really that easy, that's what I like about having the android operating system. Most already know how to use android cell phones.

      I booted mine ix12 now and the Android screen shows in 40s (yours in 1m40s) and AirWare SW is ready to use in 1m40s on mine (2m 30s yours). Switching of models happens in 13s on mine and 25s on yours. Fast model switch (holding of pen button on main screen) happens in only 10s on mine. I got last Firmware and AirWare version v1.19.07 from this year. There is something wrong with your ix12. Investing of $1000 in new radio is definitely not worth. I payed for ix12 around $600 and I became also the 9-channel Spektrum AR9030T telemetry receiver worth of $120. So the ix12 cost about $500 = half of what ix14 costs today.

      Hi Keith. I'm pretty sure everyone can wait the few minutes it takes for the iX12 radio to turn on. It's not exactly about that but a performance metric used to determine how good the hardware is. The poor performance explains why my iX12 suffers from mid flight crashes. More than likely because the processing power can not keep up and gets overloaded. I don't think getting out of bed earlier will help with this problem.

The other issue I have with Spectrum is where’s their “Ski Masks, gloves, Stun gun and Duct tape?” Cause every time I see anyone mention them and I don’t feed into them I feel like a bank customer who snuck out of a bank while it was being robbed. I’m of course kidding but I just still can’t see spending the amount of money “Spectrum” wants for their radios.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🙂👍💯
