Another great video! I've been binge watching your content 😉 I've been hesitant about going live due to being a newbie with a tiny amount of subs..... The fact that TH-cam treats live streams as just another upload is really a good thing! Not only will going live help me get more comfortable on camera it will also allow me to practice engaging with my audience in real time! I'm sold and I'm ready!!!

Great idea of scheduling your live videos ahead of time and using a standard thumbnail. I've been going live on FB however looking forward to going live on YT again as I get much more engagement
Yes going live on TH-cam helps build your channel too! I still like Facebook lives for selling products though. It's both for me, not either of. What would your thumbnail be about Herman?

Thank you! It's just as easy to go live now on TH-cam as it is on Facebook. With the added advantage that YT livestreams build your channel and search authority. You should have no problem!

That's great to know Bonnie. I'd suggest jumping off the deep end with live video and doing one even if you don't quite have a topic worked out. It could be the general theme of your channel: handmade crafts. Good luck!

The boost your channel got is awesome, and congratulations, you deserve it. But, how can you tell if the amazing result is due to the videos being live, rather than just being an extra video a week, with the longer run time?
Hi Judy, great point! The cool thing is that there's no difference in how TH-cam sees a video upload - recorded or live. So once your live is over, it's treated as a normal video upload.
So to your point, the result might have been the same had I just added another scheduled video.
However, it was much easier for me to add a live stream than do another recorded video because of the time involved in scripting/production/editing of recorded videos. So in terms of time savings, live videos give me a better return on my time.
That said, what are your thoughts on going live on TH-cam?
That is kind of a relief to hear for someone who is reeeal nervous about going live. Heck, I'm nervous about going on camera - live or not, at least at this stage. I'm sure it will become easier with time and experience. A paperbag with two holes for the eyes might help, lol.
I get your point about the practical advantages, which alone makes it worth trying, as does the direct interaction with your community.
The upshot for me is, I will start without live once a week to build confidence and at least a small community, then add a second (non-live) video and see if that makes a difference (opportunity to experiment and give feedback), then swap the occasional second one out for a live video and increase those if I find them to be worth doing.

I have been avoiding going live on You Tube because I have such a large audience on TTok and am afraid of having too small group of listeners on YTube. However, I am open minded to learning and do want to grow my You Tube channel. I realize going Live here will help grow my channel. Advice? What is the optimum length of Live? Thanks
Invite your tiktok audience to come see your yt live and chose a compelling topic. You'll get some overlaps and will grow from there. A small audience is a blessing when you're first starting out because it allows you to connect deeper with people and they are more forgiving of any mistakes. You got this.

HI Salma - thanks for the advice again. Love you structured way of doing things. Good for a freestyler like myself ;-) My Q is - how will you organize your live videos within your channel - are you making a separate playlist? Or do you keep them off playilsts?
Great question Anja! So I have 3 options:
- put the live videos in a separate playlist but not share the playlist on home
- share that playlist on my home page
- Not put the live videos in any playlist
For now, they are not in any playlist. But maybe later I'll put them in a playlist, just to find them easily, but not share that playlist on home page because I don't think many people will go back to watch 1 hour broadcasts months/years from now.
What are your thoughts around going live on TH-cam? Will you try it out?

I'm intimidated by being in front of a camera. Not going to happen for several months.
I'm intimidated I might say the wrong thing and it will be it the forever or I'll need to delete the video. Can you edit after the livestream is over?
I would literally encourage you to get on camera with the intention of deleting it later. I have several videos that are deleted or made private because they were my early efforts. Only way to get through the fear is to go through it.
Great video. We went live last night for the first time. I struggled with tech issues in the beginning - but overall it went well. My question is NOW WHAT? I edited the title & thumbnail and uploaded it to my channel - but people aren't being notified that it's there - like when I put up a new video. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Like I said - brand new at this! thanks
Great job going live!!! 👏 Live videos aren't meant to perform like typical uploads. Use the lives to interact with your community, share info in real time and build rapport. You can then repurpose the livestream for nuggets of info, or unlist it since people will rarely watch the full replay. Use livestreams to connect with your audience on a much deeper level.

Go live you mean? Yes absolutely, you can go live on TH-cam using just your phone so from literally anywhere :) I agree - a ton of possibilities!!! So what will your first live be about? :)

Yes you can go live when if you don't have 1k subscribers but you have to do it using third party software such as obs, restream, stream yard, etc. And not directly via TH-cam.
Am not able to use mobile live but my live is on on laptop i have 1000 sub but still show some pop up in mobile

Hmm? Not sure what you mean? I'm just sharing what I've learned. You can choose to follow or not.
I think it helps if you have something to do or your cute I think you have both also I would like to see live stream. data for males and females analytical data
Unfortunately Case I have no such gender or demographic data! All I can tell you is that if your content is valuable to your audience, then your videos (live or recorded) should do reasonably well. The rest will happen with time and practice.
How to plan a live stream
I have a whole playlist on making live videos. Find it from the home page on my channel.

Yep, you can't on desktop (unless using streaming software) But you can via mobile.
