I got divorced years ago. I went to live with friends and their daughter. This lovely little girl didn’t know my personal drama. She loved me. She popped up in my face every morning, to ask ‘“will you play with me?”. She wanted to play. I will be indebted to her for loving me when I needed it. She did listen when I told her”I’ll play with you. After I have some coffee “.

I’m really not a fan of his Mexican accent though! 😒 Maybe that’s just how most California Mexicans talk- the vato voice, but here in Texas there’s very little of that Ja Rule growling sound here! 😂 It’s just another accent! Another pet peeve: his New York Puerto Rican accent is still the same California vato accent. We’re totally different! Keenan Thompson on SNL does a pretty good job of it- but he has lived in NYC for a while now. I dunno Trevor- you’ve got room for improvement on the different Latino Americans!

there are private hospitals and public hospitals in SA. in public, it is free but in private there can only stabilize you and send you to a public hospital because they need to make a profit. if that a definition of a broken country then that great
I live in the US. 24,000 rands is less than $2000 in US money. US medical bills can get into the hundreds of thousands, and even into the millions. I was thinking of his skit here in US terms until I decided to check how much 24K rands actually was. When I saw how low it was, I laughed out loud.
His book tells this story "Born a crime", I was tearing when I was listening to his audiobook. Now I'm laughing about it, not sure something wrong with me or his style of telling a story is so good he can control your emotions
I think his comedy should exclude real life tragedy. I was pretty sure he was telling a true story all the way through, and I couldn't believe any of the audience was laughing. I was waiting for him to get to the serious part where he points out that people can laugh at tragedy if it is presented the right way, but it never came; HE is the improper presentation. He should start with the fact that the injury turned out to be (thankfully) very minor. Otherwise he is a catastrophe comic, which I would never watch.
@@akiramenai4973 he wouldn't include it in his comedy if he didn't want to laugh about it with people. People process trauma in different ways, and for a lot of us, that's laughing at it. You don't have to watch it, but don't judge those of us who laugh.
@@KTGetc When did I judge you? Saying that I couldn't believe anyone laughed is not the same as judging anyone. It's a statement about my own thoughts.

This is my first time really listening to Trevor Noah. Actually I watched the grandmother clip first and I was blown away. Can she please be my grandma? My Koko? She made me love Trevor. So I researched his life and OMG he's been through soooo much. His experience and exposure in life is very very broad - good and bad. So I watched this video and really could see for the first time that he is truly gifted. I don't watch his show; never watched any of the daily shows. And at first I didn't "get" him. Didn't know who the heck he was. But he's funny even with tragedy. I was laughing out loud. My mom shot my father when I was about 8 yrs old. She had to or he would've killed her. Drunk and stalking her. He lived. It was so sad because I loved my father so much, but he had to be shot and my sister and I witnessed it. There's no way I could make that story funny. He died later when I was 10 from diabetic coma. I thank Trevor for helping me process my own tragedy of over 50 years ago. I will watch his show now. I am a fan.
Awwww...Praise the LORD That You and Trevor Made It Through With Amazing Spirits and Precious Souls of Light. I Pray and Hope that You Both Continue On Using Every Chance You Have to Encourage Someone Else That They Can Make It To The Otherside of Pain.

Purely astounding the creative way of being a humorist with stories of serious events. Keeps it serious while placing humor into it; I’m completely wowed!

Edit: I get it a lot of y'all mothers had you or you sibling in their 40s. Guess what? I DONT CARE so pls stop commenting cause I get a notification every time and it's annoying as hell
Actually in the book the story is a bit different. It's his middle brother Andrew who called him and brought their mum to the hospital, and Abel, the stepfather took Isaac who was 4.
In this show, Trevor changes the story quite a lot. In his book, Born A Crime, he says that his brother Andrew called and told him about his mother being shot. His brother Andrew then later explains that as soon as his mother had been shot, he’d taken control of the steering wheel and drove his mother straight to the hospital. Andrew had completely forgotten about his little brother Isaac and had drove off to the hospital. Abel who was Trevor’s stepfather who had shot Patricia, took Isaac to one of his close friends and soon went off to kill himself. Before this, he had had a day of farewell where his cousin told him to man up and to turn himself in to the police rather than escaping the consequences by means of killing himself. So Abel turns himself in and is soon let out with attempted murder on his criminal records…
thanks for telling us what really happened. Never knew Trevor had gone through so much. But I am glad Trevor made it and is famous and doing what he loves. I hope the mum divorced the step father. If something like this happened to a kid in America, they would be going to rehab or counselling.
Stage comedy usually deters from reality in details. The concept could be true, the incident happened but the little details you might find is different for the sake of comedy
what about hundreds of thousands of other trajectories that killed people ? is that satan right there ? looks like "God" is really lazy because he helps a person then takes a thousand days off and goes on vacation !
@@xtensionxward3659 i'm not trying to make the God debate on here buddy. I said what i said. I believe what i believe in. No ones has to agree with it.
I read about this in his book "Born a crime". There was a part in the book when he was on his way to the hospital where he calls his brother back to ask what exactly happened. Trevor : What happened? Isaac : Our father shot her in the leg. Trevor : Oh, that's not so bad. Isaac : Yeah, then he shot her in the head. That's when he broke down.
What I really loved about Trevors book was the fact that it was written in such a fun way and with his great sense of humor that you are constantly between shock and smiling. But when I read this part of the story I honestly cried (I am a very emotional person, sorry). So it is kinda weird to see him, telling this story with his usual wit and to hear the audience laugh.

"*SHE HAS LIVED EH*" - Trevor Noah
I think you tried to do *"this"* right
I don't know how to describe this, but this is the most beautiful joke I have ever heard from Trevor. He literally made beauty out of ashes.
He called the traffic light a robot. I love hearing how people refer to things in other parts of the world.
We call it a robot too in Zimbabwe

Should we be thankful kids are like that, simple minded, it’s much better than wallowing in despair and overdosing oneself from too much anxiety.
Hash potentially, but at the same time, it’s not good because they can be quite annoying for the people who are grieving

That's mad late. Lol

The message is clear in all Trevor’s comedy shows...
ACCENT is REALLY a COOL thing....
Is what made you, YOU...
Don't disrespect Trevor like that
I love how serious the subjects are, but he always manages to tell a cheerful story out of them.
The reality of being a young kid in a very real situation Lolol “I’m never going to play PlayStation again.”
his accents are spot on ! love him
chelsey bainisavu yeah cause he’s South African, that’s his natural speaking voice, I think he’s just doing the American accent
I knew his mom was a badass before but that last line had me rolling.
And by badass you mean a slumlord in S.A., you know that right...
Brett is a liar
@@nizmo1713 No, this is the truth, his mother is a slum lord and subjected her children to an abusive step father, this is the man that shot her 3 times and tried to kill her...please get your facts right before calling me a liar...

No money no treatment. That's a sign of a broken country right there.

@@MiniPeugot y would they force people to work for free ,I dont understand
there are private hospitals and public hospitals in SA. in public, it is free but in private there can only stabilize you and send you to a public hospital because they need to make a profit. if that a definition of a broken country then that great
I live in the US.
Akira Menai he wouldnt tell it the way he tells it if he wouldnt like you to laugh

I am a fan.
This is great story. Thank you for sharing.
I am so so sorry. Thank you for sharing your story.

Damn. You and your sister are tough cookies. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Trevor is really an amazing person.

Did he mention in the book, about how unconcerned his brother was?
@@michaelwestern11 He only said his brother was very calm on the phone, even when he met him at the hospital.
Oh, alright. Thanks!
Because of his delivery.
Olubusola Oke isn’t isaac the baby and andrew the brother who called trevor?
So Abel turns himself in and is soon let out with attempted murder on his criminal records…
its comedy
thanks for telling us what really happened.

So what that was the only part of the book i cried it was heartbreaking
I've read his book too, and yes I had the shock and awe, smiling. Don't remember if I cried tho.
