- In this second video of my River to River trail series, I’m diving deep into all the planning and prep I’ve been doing for my thru-hike! Join me as I lay out the route I’ll be taking and share how I plan to navigate the trail while I’m out there.
I’ll also chat about the towns along the way, which are perfect for resupply stops, and what kind of weather to expect in the Fall season. Plus, I’ll give you some tips on how to deal with wet feet (trust me, it’s important!) and share why hiking during the autumn is such a joy.
If you're curious about the trail or planning your own hike, check out the River to River trail website at rivertorivertrail.net for more info. Let’s get ready for an adventure!
I'm excited for you! Sounds like a great time. I did an overnight with my son and daughter a couple years ago partially within the Garden of the Gods area. I could not believe I was still in Illinois! It was beautiful. Enjoy the planning and prep too, that's half the fun!
@@cadleclan9 thanks I really appreciate it! Since discovering the Shawnee I too am baffled that such gorgeous woods are in Illinois! Thanks so much!
I’m really excited for your trip, my man! One day, by golly, I’ll make it to that trail! And when I do, I’ll definitely look to you for some advice. Thanks for sharing! (And don’t put me in the giveaway since I won last time! 😉). Happy trails, Glenn!
@@tridudyonthetrail thanks! I too am very excited! I love this trail! I hope someday you are able to hike it. And absolutely, I'd even be willing to show up to give you some trail magic along your hike! Hope all is well, my friend!
Good luck! I've tried thru hiking the trail 3 times. Made it once. Completed it in 8 days in June. Tried west to east and made it to Garden of the Gods before my knee just wouldn't let me go any further. The third time, made it to Giant City from Etown before injury cut me short. That was in April. It's always harder than you think it will be.
@@steelbob3 I've followed your hikes on your channel before embarking on my own! I too hope to enjoy this trail someday with my son. Thanks for your support!
